I have tested your demo website for pagespeed and mobile friendly layout, however, there are 14-page resources couldn’t be loaded (see: https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly?id=mmvlDYiqfRaMgaRFT-kmcg) which is not good for search ranking signal as per the google – https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2018/01/using-page-speed-in-mobile-search.html

That may happen on resource heavy pages, I believe the test simulates the loading of the website on a bad connection. You can see that even the Google search page has issues loading resources if you should test it

Also the results seem to be different each time a test is made with the same website URL. Draw your own conclusions. Also be sure to search more online, there are many topics in the matter.

I did not update few previous updates.. I am on 8.7 .
can you provide patches to upgrade the theme? I have made some changes in original theme actually. so cannot just replace whole theme

Updating using the patches will have the same result. If you skip a few updates, the changes will be many even with the patches. It is recommended to replace all of the theme files if you skipped more than 2 – 3 updates. You can check the list of modified files between versions in the change log. Hi, I set in them panel (SHOW DATE Enable or disable the post date (on blocks and modules)) – ON. But on block 21 date not showed (https://i.imgur.com/LJiaU1K.png). I replace my current template (version: 8.8.1) width last version: 8.8.2 and date showed, but site broken. 1) Our theme has it;s own amp plugin built in house. We have not tested the plugin made by Ahmed Kaludi. If you want to use an external amp plugin, try the one built by Automatic, the WP developers.
2) If you receive a 500 error again. it could be a memory allocation issue. Please try to set 256 mb of memory to wp in wp-config.php and also use this guide to make sure your install meets the requirements for newspaper: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

First of all, I really love NewsPaper since day 1. I just want to ask a question about the theme and your plans. It may not be entirely related to the theme but it is related to specific features of the theme.
In its current state, we can add Google AdSense and Google Analytics codes to the NewsPaper theme which allows us using those services. But as you may know this makes our sites not compliant with GDPR. Because in EEA areas, our websites should never set cookies unless visitors give specific consent. So somehow cookies should be blocked before consenting. Now, some Cookie Consent plugins prevent certain cookies but they are not working perfect with caching scripts either. So they are not solving anything either. Using an Analytics plugin creates only first party cookies but whether they are first party or third party cookies shouldn’t be there before visitors give consent according to the GDPR. Besides, if we add the codes to the theme, it is nearly impossible to prevent them creating cookies at the moment. So I want to know what tagDiv is planning to do about GDPR compliance for their themes. I really love NewsPaper and I never want to change it because it is perfect for me. But this custom js codes working uncontrolled makes websites not compliant with GDPR. Please release GDPR specific update or what so we can keep on using this great theme with AdSense and Analytics services from inside the theme as before without having to fill the site with lots of plugins which may create further complications

Our theme already is GDPR compliant but it does not ofer any cookie consent notice. This will have to be implemented through plugins. The GDPR implementation was made already in version 8.7.5 https://www.screencast.com/t/xCe0pSjxkThe theme is GDPR compliant meaning it does not collect any data by itself. This is the case since WordPress 4.9.6 and theme version 8.7.5. WordPress introduced privacy settings, you can also create a privacy page

Thanks for your quick reply. I know it is not entirely about the theme. It only relates to Ads and Analytics sections of the theme. About GDPR compliance, yes you don’t collect any data. But Ads and Analytics features are there for us to add their codes. Adding any codes there makes any website using this theme incompliant with GDPR instantly. Because those codes generates cookies and cookies should be blocked BEFORE any user give consent. I think somehow a change to those sections should be done to clear the theme designers’ responsibility.
Adding a privacy policy alone does not make any website GDPR compliant. A “Prior consent” is a must. This is why I needed to write here. I know I can delve in the mess of plugins. And leave the theme’s Ads and Analytics sections alone. But then what is the point of those sections? Any java script code that I will enter there will create cookies anyways.
I know I didn’t expand my support here. But this is a presale question since I am thinking about buying more licenses and this is a huge issue. In fact I can even expand my support if you are willing to solve it for me. Your Ads and Analytics sections are there to use so why do I have to install more plugins to do that job for me? Can’t tagDiv do anything about it? Can’t you just create another useful plugin to block js codes, create a beautiful consent that work with this great theme? Your other plugins do very good job. I only use your plugins on my website. I honestly don’t wanna be pushed towards that big mess of GDPR plugins. Most of them doesn’t even block js codes like they say they do. I trust you guys.

I understand but unfortunately for the moment there is no such implementation as you require. A notice can only be implemented through third party plugins at the moment. We made sure the theme itself is GDPR compliant. We cannot provide any options for the type of ads you use or the analytics code or other external resources you may implement. The section of the theme panel is not an “analytics” section, but rather a general header code section. We mentioned analytics as it is the most common resource used in that spot. As for the ads, they are general ad spots where users can place any type of ad, not just adsense. The theme provides ‘general spots’ where the user can implement his own scripts. It is up to each user how he/she implements those scripts and what is done about the GDPR law after the implementation. We cannot add such notices in the theme because they do not apply to everyone. We thank you for your suggestions though and I will add them to our list for future updates and see if our development team will decide on implementing any extra measure for the GDPR law, but for the time being, the theme itself is compliant. What a user does with the theme is up to each individual to make the implementation they use GDPR compliant. The theme cannot cover all scenarios.

If our development team considers this is a must have, we will definitely implement it into our theme in future updates, but for the moment there is no solution I can provide except recommend plugins that can offer this feature. No, thank you. I don’t need a refund or money. I only needed a little bit of emphaty here. I will just look for “unknown” plugins by “unknown” developers, purchase them, try them for this issue.
Regarding your replies, I have been using this theme since I bought it. In your messages, you act here like I wanted you to be my web designer and create something entirely different of what you have been doing for years. But it is not true. It is related to your theme (themes). GDPR is a real deal. It covers entire website from WordPress itself to the theme and plugins. You said you are compliant and you don’t collect data but you have Ads and Analytics/JS Codes sections which may lead to collect data and I requested them to be somehow compliant with GDPR. It is your right to not honor this request of course but it only ruins your reputation and our trust in you. But know that those sections are part of your theme and although you are not directly responsible of what we put in them, you are responsible for their existence and you will have to make something about them to be compliant with GDPR when your other customers start complaining about fines etc. I just wanted to warn you beforehand.
Besides, you have been telling me what you CAN’T do here, but since last year when I purchased this theme I have seen what you (tagDiv) CAN do. You have created an entire theme. You have done so many things, added so many features, created so many plugins – in short, you set the bar so high that I started using only your plugins because they work with this theme better. I didn’t have to look out for more plugins. I deleted my third party plugins meanwhile, started using yours. Google released AMP and you released an AMP plugin. This is why I felt I trusted you. This is why in the case of GDPR I thought and expected you to show the same approach and add a few of user friendly GDPR features for us to keep on using your theme more conveniently and build more trust in us. I did not ask anything you CAN’T do here. Blocking some cookies that are set by a theme’s feature shouldn’t be harder than creating that theme, right?
Regarding scenarios, you ended your previous reply with “The theme cannot cover all scenarios”. I didn’t ask that. You yourself should have thought about COMMON scenarios though. Is there anyone not using any Google services anymore?

Believe me, I understand the issue perfectly and we do care about these issues, but please understand our position. I did not say we cannot do it as a theme developer. I merely mentioned i personally cannot provide a solution NOW for an issue that has to be investigated and a implemented accordingly. These types of implementation do not happen overnight. They have to be discussed and decisions made in this regard by the whole team and then the proper implementation created and tested across multiple scenarios. It will take weeks if decided upon. That is what I meant, not that we as a developer cannot create such an implementation. I already mentioned I will pass this information and raise this problem in our future meetings. I’m not sure what more information I can provide now in this regard.

It seems that the style.css is not loading. Maybe the cache is still holding the old file and not letting the new one apply. Please clear all caching from your plugin or cdn server or even hosting side cache if the host offers such a solution.
