Hey! I got this theme for a client on an account i created for them. Love the theme but i’m having an issue with the slider it was working before but now it only shows half of the image and cuts off the rest so i can see the title. Any help?!
What i just realized its that the Demos the carousel slider is responsive, but on my homepage it is not. If i make my screen smaller it shows me the whole image.

Hi! I bought the theme (very nice) and I have two questions: 1) I activated the slider but it doesn’t work; 2) the posts in homepage (only there) have a frame of dots. How I can solve these two issues? Thank you in advance for the answer!

1) Have you already selected any posts to appear in the slider? Instructions on how to do that you can find in the documentation under Pages > HOME Page > Adding a Slider to the home page: http://www.files.red-sun-design.com/marni/readme/readme.html#pages_help
2) The dots mean that those posts are sticky posts. You can simply uncheck the “Stick this post to the front page” checkbox in the Publish box of those posts or if you wish I can give you some CSS code instead to remove the dots.

Hi, Nice theme. Just wonder if a feature image is required for video posts when shown on home page and facebook feed. Also, would it be compatible with WPML? Thanks.

1. A thumbnail for video posts is only needed for
- the slider
- the previous / next post links and related post links at the bottom of each single blog post and
- the popular posts widget
For those areas you need to additionally upload a featured image on the right hand side.
A useful plugin that automatically creates those thumbnail images for you is the “Video Thumbnails” plugin. More detailed info on that and how to use the plugin you can find in the Marni documentation under Posts > Post Formats: http://www.files.red-sun-design.com/marni/readme/readme.html#posts_help
Sharing a video post on facebook will not show a video thumbnail.
2. Yes, the theme is translation ready and compatible with WPML.

A few more questions…
1) Featured image Is there any size/dimension options? The theme seems to use a lot of square images. I am planning to apply this theme for an existing site which featured images are 1000px (16:9 or 2:3).
2) Can the wordings such as “view post”, “Highlights”, category names be translated using WPML?
3) I suppose I can hide the post date, comments, and view numbers for each post. Is that correct?
4) Are the youtube videos ARVE or I have to add that to the url?

1) Yes, for all thumbnails (post feed, popular posts widget) you have the option to choose landscape, square or uncropped format. (You can see the options in the Marni Layout Options Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJYENnImQw&feature=youtu.be ) Landscape images are 4:3 though. You could adjust the landscape image sizes in a child theme. There are a few areas where the images are always square, like for example the recommended and next/previous posts at the bottom of single blog pages.
2) Yes, the theme is fully translation ready
3) Yes, you can see those options as well in the YouTube video mentioned above.
4) I’m sorry, what is ARVE? I didn’t find an answer on that in Google

ARVE is the plug in for youtube videos. Other than being responsive, it stops other suggested youtube videos from showing up next. So in the text editor, I am now using [arve url=”https://youtu.be/....”]
Is your video post editor different?
I am thinking about applying it for an existing website which featured images can be any dimension. So I set it to 3:2 which is a common camera setting. Having a fixed 4:3 means that I will have to redo all the featured images?
Please advise.

You pretty much just add the YouTube URL or embed code into a custom field.
In order to remove the related videos, you can simply add rel=0 to the embed code. For example <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5HNM-fIrR-Q?rel=0"></iframe>
Marni already includes the fitvids ( http://fitvidsjs.com/ ) plugin to make all videos responsive.
2) If you install a new theme to an existing blog, you will have to run a Thumbnail resizing plugin, like for example https://wordpress.org/plugins/ajax-thumbnail-rebuild/ . This plugin will automatically create all the necessary image sizes.

And here is the solution: Either unzip the zip file that you’ve downloaded from Envato and look for the marni.zip file – or when you download the theme, simply make sure to click “Installable WordPress file only” and upload this zip file to your WordPress installation.

I have sent you an message via support email but haven’t heard from you for 3 days! I have installed the layout style but it doesn’t work. Only the Instagram the the menu bar were shown. The home page was still pulling my old content which becomes some text boxes.
Then I installed the demo data but it still doesn’t work and there is no pages, no style shown. Please advise.

The Google fonts are being loaded by the Kirki plugin that is required with the theme.
Maybe you are trying to use a font that has just recently been added to Google Fonts?
In the changelog of the Kirki plugin I can see that they updated the Google fonts families on May 16th. So any fonts that have been added to Google after that, will not be available yet in the Customizer. I’m sure the plugin developers are going to add the newest font families to the next plugin update.

Is it possible to increase the depth of the white header to fit my logo? Is it possible to insert a welcome video on the home page that will span the width of the posts below it?

Yes, the header will automatically adjust to your logo’s height.
The theme includes a sidebar above the posts (see main demo, “most popular” posts section above the posts on the home page). Into this sidebar you can insert WordPress’s video widget. The video will span all across the sidebar.

You are talking about the slider on top of the home page, yes?
You can either crop the pictures in photoshop before you upload them or edit them in Media > Library.
Then go to Appearance > Customize > Layout > Slider, select the slider type “carousel” and make sure “Images Auto Width” is set to “ON”. That way, your images are displaying the way you upload them and are not cropped any further.
Yes the slider on top of the home page! I want to choose whats shown in the home bar slider crop, but the photo in the originally post shouldn’t be cropped. Is that possible?
Hello! I have som questions. 1. Everytime I want to upload an image, it says: This response is not a valid JSON response. What does that mean and how do I upload images? 2. I have choosen the thumbnail ratio to be square on the front page, and it looks right in the “customize” page, but when I’m looking at the real website, it’s not cropped.. how do I fix that? 3. It automatically puts my categories and websites in alpabetichal order in my grid posts at the front page, and I don’t want that – how do I change that?

Yes, in the support tab above, click “Contact Author”. It would be really hard for me to help without actually looking at the issue. You can create a temporary user for me and then delete the user as soon as I’m done.
Hi! I’ve got a question about the newsletter. I wanted it to edit with MailChimp and add a field for the first and last name but somehow the css is different than the one of the email field (other width, other font). How can I change that?

Hello ! I added a menu with my categories but when you click on the category I have this link mywebsite.com/category/name-of-the-category and it displays a white page. It should display a list of the articles in this category, I don’t know what to do! Why the links display a white page? Not even an error page, it’s juste white! Currently the theme does not include a sticky header. Since this feature has been requested a few times now I am thinking about adding it to a future update though.
Until then you can use a plugin for that. I just tested the My Sticky Menu plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/mystickymenu/ and it seemed to work well.
In the plugin settings, simply add #header-regular into the field “Sticky Class” to make it work.

1. This would be possible with a little change in the theme files. I can send you a child theme with the changes if you wish. Just get in touch via the support tab above.
2. If you don’t want your images to be cut in the slider, please select “Images Auto Width” in Appearance > Customize > Layout Slider. Here you can also adjust the Slider Image height.
3. I am using the column shortcuts for that: http://marni.redsun.design/shortcodes
4. I’m sorry but you would have to manually do that for each post separately
5. I am using the popular posts plugin that is recommended by the theme to display the page views. This is the information that I found on the plugin FAQ site at https://github.com/cabrerahector/wordpress-popular-posts/wiki/5.-FAQ : Since WordPress doesn’t keep track of page views, this plugin will log them for you. But the plugin can only count views from the moment you installed it.
In the support forum of the plugin I found this info here, which might be helpful to you: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/post-counts-before-installation/ and https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-manually-set-a-certain-number-of-views-for-a-post/ Also, displaying the page views is optional and you can hide the post views in the theme customizer.

Hi, first of all, congratulations because this theme is really great. I have a site full of content and I have not had much difficulty in changing the theme. To perfect everything, I have some questions: 1) RECOMENDED FOR YOU how can I set up graphic display in order to have all the images of the same size? How can I set the number of posts and categories defined? How can I set up English / Italian languages by having a multilingual site? 2) when in a post I click on the image the character of the description of the image is huge, how can I resize it? can I choose not to display the description text but only the enlarged image? 3) my site is three years old and with the change of the theme the VIEW are zero and it’s terrible, is there a solution for this? 4) it is possible to change in bulk all the cover images on FEATURED IMAGE putting all the images in Widescreen + Overlay Title mode? 5) Is it possible to edit all the photos in FILE MEDIA instead of the ANNEX PAGE? 6) MOST POPULAR how can I manage languages as my site is multilingual? 7) in MOST POPULAR I do not like the numbers that appear on the left side, can I delete them?

1a) The recommended posts are displaying a square image. All images should have the same size. If you had existing posts before installing Marni, you may have to run a thumbnail resizing plugin to display the images for the old posts in the right size. You can for example use the Ajax Thumbnail Rebuild plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ajax-thumbnail-rebuild/ 1b) The recommended posts are showing posts from the same category. The number of posts can only be changed by making changes directly in the theme file (file inc/template-tags.php line 177).
1c) In order to set up a multilingual page, I can recommend the WPML plugin: https://wpml.org/ 2) Do you mean the image caption when the image opens in the light box? I can’t see this issue, can you send me an example link?
3) I will see if I can come up for a solution for this.
4) I’m sorry but I can’t think of a way right now to change in bulk all featured images to widescreen.
5) I’m not exactly sure what you mean here?

7) The widget has an option to remove the numbers (checkbox “Display Counter”). I just realised though there is a bug with that checkbox and I will fix it in the next theme update!
