Hi
I just bought your theme. However, somehow I bought it twice! at the same moment, and my Credit Card is charged double? Can you please refund me 1 of these?
Hope to hear from you soon
Best, Koen
Hallo Koen,
Please submit the refund request and confirm us when it’s done.
Best, J
Refund form submitted. Thanks for support
No problem!
I really like your theme but I just have a question about tweaking it. Is there any way I can remove this text under the article titles (http://demo.nicethemes.com/flatbase/help-desk/article-category/account-settings/) to make it look neater? If not, can I show more categories on the home page (http://demo.nicethemes.com/flatbase/help-desk/)?
Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to us! Yes, you can always edit the files to make them look as you want. We always recommend to use child themes. You can either customize the template or use WordPress filters.
Yes, you can use more categories on the home page.
Best, J.
I know my support has expired but can you please kindly provide a few steps on how I can achieve either one of those options..? Best regards
Thanks for the follow-up. Unfortunately, the idea of the extended support is that we can only provide support when it’s still valid. Best, J.
I have extended my support. Can you please provide instructions on how I can remove this text under the article titles (http://demo.nicethemes.com/flatbase/help-desk/article-category/account-settings/) to make it look neater?
Hi,
Thank you for extending your support. You can add this code to your functions.php file in order to remove the article meta data on categories pages: https://gist.github.com/juanfra/a0e6cc1dd584bebb15d3ddd0f1d8c13b
Best, J
Thank you. I followed your instructions and added the below to Theme Functions (functions.php) under ”<?php” then hit “Update File” and nothing changed. What else should I try?
add_filter( ‘nice_article_meta’, ‘flatbase_article_meta_custom’ ); function flatbase_article_meta_custom( $html ) { if ( is_tax() ) { return ’’; } }
return $html;
Disregard, I see that you removed the ”# of views”, “Duration”, “Heart” buttons but the text is still there. I only want to remove the supporting text and would like to keep the buttons please. Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for the follow-up. So, you want to keep the icons but remove the text of the article meta on the categories page?
Best, J
correct
Hi,
Thank you for the follow-up.
Well, that’s unfortunately not possible unless you customize the function or its output. The function is nice_article_meta() and it is in the following file /flatbase/includes/template-tags.php
Best, Juan.
Okay, can you please explain how I can customize the function or its output?
Hi,
Basically that requires PHP knowledge, are you proficient with PHP?
I’m just curious why you’d like to keep the icons and not the text. And why is that it didn’t worked for you to remove the section.
Best, J
No I am not proficient with PHP. I’d like to keep the icons because without them the page looks bare. Can you please tell me what to modify to achieve this in your template?
Hello,
You can add the following code to your functions.php file: https://gist.github.com/juanfra/e5cbf148b8c2a2dcc47e16378f0b5bcb
Best, Juan.
Thank you for your assistance. I tried adding that code to my functions.php file and it made the icons look funny and the text is still there as shown in the attached: https://ibb.co/sbkrPy5 I’d like the icons how they were with no text (red X over this) as shown in the attached: https://ibb.co/C8DMVKH
Hello,
Yes, the icons are there but without the text beside them, I thought that’s what you asked. If you want the icons as they were you should remove the code I sent you.
To remove the excerpt from the taxonomy templates, you can create a child theme, and then copy the taxonomy files from the original theme (taxonomy-article-category.php and taxonomy-article-tag.php) and for each one of those, on the child theme you should remove the part where it says ‘the_excerpt()’
Best, J
Thank you for your response. Can you please provide more steps on how I can achieve this. How do I create a child theme? How do I call this child theme and not change the existing theme I purchased? Thank you
Hello,
The theme package comes with a zip named “flatbase-child”. That’s the basic child theme that you can use. If you activate a child theme, in WordPress, then you get all the look and functionality of the parent theme, but you can customize things in your child theme. Then, whenever the theme is updated you don’t lose the changes and everything goes smoothly. You can learn more about creating a child theme or using one, here: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2016/01/create-customize-wordpress-child-theme/
What I’d recommend you is to use the child theme that comes with the package and then copy the files I mentioned on my previous message (taxonomy-article-category.php and taxonomy-article-tag.php) to the child theme folder. On those files, you have to look for “the_excerpt()” and remove it.
Best, J.
It worked! Much cleaner!! Thank you for your assistance J. Have a good one
My pleasure. Have a nice day.

Hello J! Will your knowledge base theme search the content of PDFs that I upload into my website’s media directory? If not, are there advanced search plugins that are compatible with this theme?
Hello,
Thank you for writing. I hope you’re doing well. Unfortunately, that’s not possible. The search functionality is based in the WordPress search engine and it does not search on PDFs. I’m no aware of any plugin that can make a search on a PDF. Sorry I can’t be of help.
Best, J.
Pre sales question. I’m experience of discontinued wordpress theme. I like this theme but I can see last update one year ago. This theme works only with classic editor plugin that will be dismiss in 2 years. Are developments on the topic just planned?
Hi,
Thank you for writing. The theme can be used even without the classic editor plugin right now. As the articles are a custom post type, they will be automatically administrated with the classic editor. If you install WP > 5.0 you will get to see the block editor for pages and posts. And in that case, you may want to keep the classic editor. We have plans on bringing some compatibility on that front. And we’re also planning to launch a maintenance release soon. The fact that it was updated last year (we’re in January, though) means that the theme is pretty solid regarding the functionalities that it brings.
Thanks again and have a nice day
Ciao, J
is it work with Wordpress 4.9.X ???
Hello,
Yes it works with WordPress 4.9 – For WordPress 5.0 you will need to install the classic editor plugin.
Best, J
Would I be able to customise this theme so the search bar stays on the top of every page?
Hi,
Thank you for writing. I hope you’re doing well.
That cannot be achieved by customizing the theme via options panel, but you can always add some custom coding to make that happen.
Best, J
Hi,
Thanks for an awesome theme. Please let me know what is the easiest way to add a widget to a single article page that would contain anchor links to the article sections, and these links would be added automatically depending on the article headings?
Hi,
Thank you for writing and the kind words
We hope you are doing well!
You could use the “Article Categories” widget in the Article sidebar in order to have links to the different sections.
Best, J
Thanks, I have one more question – is there a way to order category sections on the home page? It seems that they are ordered alphabetically.
My pleasure
You can use the following plugin to order the article categories: https://wordpress.org/plugins/taxonomy-terms-order/
Best, J
Hey there, how can I also have the sidebar at the article category page? So if I go one step back from an article to the overview of all articles of a category – I have no sidebar. Can’t find an option to set this.
Hi,
Thank you for writing. It appears that you haven’t bought the theme. Are you using the comments on another account? I’d kindly ask you to create an account on http://nicethemes.com/support validate the purchase and create your support ticket.
Best, J
Hi there, thank you very much for your answer! It is more like a pre-sales question as I saw a colleague run it but with no sidebar on the category page. With your demo, I can see it.
It can be used with a sidebar by using the category page or using a page directly, with the shortcode within the content.
Best, J
Hi J, I just checked your documentation, which does not contain any shortcodes? Am I wrong?
It has. Please if you need assistance, register your purchase and create a ticket at http://nicethemes.com/support
Best, J.
Can new people to the website edit content after joining? & Are their content level restrictions?
Hi,
Thank you for writing, I hope you are doing well. The user roles and content level restrictions are configurable by WordPress directly. You can create users with the editor role and they should be able to create articles. The theme doesn’t add any functionality to that feature.
Best, J
Hi having issues with the homepage, trying to contact with the purchase code but on the form i Cant? can i send your the screenshots and issues on an email please, i can forward to you. thank you
Hi,
Thank you for writing. I hope you are doing well.
To create a new ticket in our support platform you will have to create an account and then on this page https://nicethemes.com/dashboard/themeforest/ Insert the purchase code you get from themeforest. You can find a tutorial on how to get that code here: https://nicethemes.com/article/find-themeforest-purchase-code/
Best, J
The given purchase code has already been registered. This is what it is saying, can you please help?
Hi,
Thanks for the follow-up.
It seems that you have two accounts. One with the same username you have here and the other one with the username markbr**&^i (hid some characters for obvious reasons). This last account is the one with the theme registration. Please be sure to use that account to post and not the first one.
Best, J
You guys not developed a theme it’s a virus. One of my client buy this theme we try different way to install the theme but it’s not working.
We if try to upload the theme via C-panel you will get this The file you uploaded, flatbase.zip, contains a virus so the upload was canceled: {HEX}a2.edoced_46esab.1.UNOFFICIAL FOUND
2. VIA FTP When active the theme your entire website will get 500 errors
3. VIA WP ADMIN If you try to upload the theme via WP admin it’s not working.
Please do not buy this.
Hello,
Thanks for writing.
The system records indicate that you haven’t purchased the theme.
It doesn’t come with any virus. Perhaps you just downloaded it from a page where premium themes are shared for free and they put malware on them.
If you or your client have purchased a copy and still on the support period, feel free to validate your copy and create a ticket at our support section.

Great theme! If I purchase it, what WPML do I require to translate it in any language? https://wpml.org/purchase/ Will “Multilingual Blog” be sufficient? And how much time does it typically take to set this WPML plugin up on your theme? Thank you
Hi,
Thanks for writing and the kind words.
If you get the “Multilingual Blog” license you won’t be able to translate:
- Widgets - Custom fields (options)
I feel you’d like to get those translated. But it depends on the site you want to create. It should be fairly simple to set WPML with the theme, you’ll have to set WPML settings to translate the article post type and then translate options when you change them.
Best, J
Thank you for your reply. If I purchase “Multilingual CMS” will I be able to translate everything? Is the setup still straight forward?
Hi,
Thank you for the follow-up. Regarding the translations perhaps you might want to contact the support team at WPML, but ideally, everything would be translated quite smoothly.
Best, J
Okay, thank you! I’ll purchase it now.
Perfect, thank you
I’m loving everything about this Theme!! Thank you!!! I just have 2 quick questions, how can I tweak the sidebar of “http://preview.themeforest.net/item/flatbase-a-responsive-knowledge-basewiki-theme/full_screen_preview/7264664?_ga=2.40620129.2135583351.1535306816-1999249480.1501943932” to only include Recent Posts, Recent Comments and Social Media buttons? How can I hide “Website” under the comment input box? Thank you!
Hi,
Thank you for writing and the kind words. The link that you sent is not working. Would you mind creating a ticket on http://nicethemes.com/support so we can give you more personalized support?
Thank you, J
Ticket submitted. Thanks
Thank you
Gostei muito do template porém tenho uma duvida, é possível translate to url site.com/article/ for site.com/servicos ?
Olá robertinho,
Unfortunately, that’s not possible via theme options, you’ll need to customize the code.

Hi Juan a pre-sales question: Is it possible to have multiple Knowledge-Base sections on one site (eg. for different topics)?
Thanks! – Moritz
Hi Moritz,
Thank you for writing. I hope you’re doing well. You can structure your articles and categories to have child categories for each “big” category and then use the knowledgebase shortcode to have like “separate” knowledge bases.
Best, J
Hi Juan,
Thank for putting this theme together.
Recently we received an recommendation from our SEO team to redirect the /feed URL to the base url i.e. flatbase.com/article/help-doc/feed to flatbase.com/article/help-doc
We have used articles menu option to document our help pages.
To help with the redirect we have tried changes to .htaccess & SEO redirection plugin neither of them have worked.
Pages which are written via posts are redirecting as expected but content written via Articles menu option are not redirecting.
Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
Regards, Shuhaid
Hi Shuhaid,
Thank you for writing.
Unfortunately, that’s something that is out of the scope of support. What I’d recommend you is to try to do 301 redirects (you can even use a plugin for that). And set as many redirects (permanent) as you need.

I want to change the icon on home page categories section please suggest me

Hi, it’s good layout, but am facing some issue in wordpress, when i installed the theme flatbase I would’t able to custom navigation, custom content..

How can we change the design behind the info boxes, for e.g. I want to add a rectangle box behind the info box ? see e.g. page https://support.cloudways.com/
Also how do we link to knowledge base main internal page which shows index of all articles – after click or on click of knowledgebase we just have to scroll below articles. ?
Hi,
Thank you for writing. I hope you are doing well. Unfortunately, that can’t be done via options, you will need to work around some custom CSS to change that. You can check this demo as a reference: http://demo.nicethemes.com/flatbase/startup/
I’m sorry but I don’t understand your second question. How would you like to link that page?
Best, J
Hi,
Thanks for putting up a great theme. Its been really useful for us to document our product for our users.
We had a query related to the article side bar. Is it possible to make the sidebar floating? As it is useful for users to navigate across a long document. We have tried using the combination of TOC+ and Q2W3 Fixed Widget to help achieve this. But the fixed widget option does not seem to work.
Any feedback from you will be appreciated.
Best, SL.
Hi,
Thank you for writing. I hope you’re doing well.
Unfortunately that’s not possibile via theme settings. You’ll need to add custom CSS (and perhaps some JS) to have a floating sidebar.
Best, J
Hi Juan,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I was able to solve this using the TOC+ & WP Sticky Sidebar plugin. Posting this just in case some one else is looking for a solution to the same problem
Best, SL
Hi SL,
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing
Have a great day, J
Hi
I have few pre-sale questions…
1. The articles which is being search from the search bar is post or “custom post”
2. What are the plugins that the demo site is using for layout?
3. Can we show articles thubmail with title in article sidebar and related article in bottom?
Thanks
Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
Regarding your questions:
1. The articles included in the live search functionality is a custom post type. You can add more post types by adding a code like this: https://gist.github.com/juanfra/72c242ec4c4b352630552. The plugin doesn’t come with any page builder or anything like that. The layouts are defined by the theme options.
3. By default that’s not included, but you can create a widget and then use the included related articles. Please have in mind that our scope of support doesn’t include custom development.
Best, J.
