Hi tagdiv team,
we have several projects with your Newspaper theme. We’ve updated them from 9.x to 9.7.3.
And then the chaos began …!
We’re using Post Templates & a Child Theme.
This doesn’t work anymore since the latest update. No matter which template we chose (if in panel or single post), in frontend default template is used.
With active Newspaper theme everything is fine!
We’ve tried it out on various projects & also on a “naked” test installation with
- resetted Newspaper settings - inactive plugins except relevant ones (TD Composer, TD Cloud Library, TD Social Counter) - child theme with nothing but basic code (functions.php & style.css)
Is this another side effect of swapping theme files to the plugin or a bug that will be fixed soon?

This problem can appear if you are using a child theme ( the post template will not apply ), there will be soon a and update that will fix those problems.

Can we switch the layout design from from one to another ( demo layout) , without loosing the contents in it ( Like Avada provides ) .

hi, how do i disable the images in posts from hyperlinking to the image attachment? all my images are now linking to the attachment after install of the theme

The image url can be changed from the image setting on each image in particular. Unfortunately there is no setting to affect all images in bulk. Sorry. If your images have been set to link to the attachment template when they were created, then you will have to change the option from the WordPress setting for each image separately. This is a WP functionality though. The theme has no influence over how images were implemented on the posts.

Hi! one quick question, if i deactivate any size into block settings > Thumbs on modules/blocks, and then i regenerate thumbnails… that images will delete from my system?
The problem is that i have all sizes actívate and website ocupped more than 32GB, and i want to reduce that space with sizes that i don’t use.

you will need to use a regeneration plugin that can provide the needed functionality. Some delete unused thumbs, some do not. You will have to check and see which one can delete older thumbs

Is there a feature to have a rating system and display the TOP 5 highest rated articles on the top of the homepage?

Yes, our theme has the mentioned option. This can be achieved by using the theme review system: https://forum.tagdiv.com/reviews-2/ and you can filter a block based on the highest review and limit it to 5 articles. https://www.screencast.com/t/xEHZ75bvN This way you will have a top articles based on reviews.

I’m having problems with two elements: Image Box and Inline single imagebox. In both the same error is occurring: When trying to insert the image, it does not load and a simple error message “Invalid data” appears and nothing else.

I love the Newspaper theme! But the theme constantly records files like xx-100×70.jpg – xx-218×150.jpg – xx-265-198.jpg. Is there a way to prevent this? thanks!
Hi,
The theme uses thumbnails of the featured image in all its’s modules. This is a feature of the theme, displaying thumbnails is considerably efficient than resizing the original image for example.
There are multiple sizes created because there are multiple modules. These modules form blocks and grids. If there are sizes which you do not need or use anywhere in the website, they can be disabled in the theme panel block settings https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/

I have an old Site that used Newspaper 7 will I be able to import all those pages and use this new theme with ease or will I have issues with the formatting of the pages and blog posts?

There have been many changes since Newspaper 7. A changelog containing details for each update can be seen at the bottom of this page https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
It would be better if possible to try updating to the latest version on a development copy of the website first, to see what happens and if there are any problems. Remember to update all the theme provided plugins as well. Here is an update guide https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/ The most recommended update method is by FTP.

You need to access the site from a mobile device as Whatsapp even though has a whatsapp web option, is still a mobile only network. Please try it from mobile.

Sorry but we have not tested Elementor or other page builders. We have our own in house built page builder called tagDiv Composer which we prefer to develop further and beyond. We do not plan on adding compatibility for other page builders at the moment.

Why do I disable the ‘tagDiv Composer’ plugin and disable the theme? Also, as mentioned above, if you disable the ’’ tagDiv Composer ’’ plugin, you will not be able to write news paper elements in the ‘WPBakery Page Builder’. Please make improvements in the next version.
