I have version 1.9.1. In my Dashboard – Updates it says the theme is up to date. What is the current version? And if 1.9.1. is not the current, how do I update it without losing my website. I will of course make a back-up.

Hi, many thanks for your reply. You understood perfectly, thank you. Now seeing it working, it isn’t quite as I had hoped. I was hoping the might be able to populate a custom field in the back end of products and then the grid would pull it from that named field. Using the current method someone would need to dig to find the each post grid throughout the site and update manually each time a product is added which isn’t ideal. Could you clarify your suggestion of post_thumbnail_html and how that might work? Many Thanks

post_thumbnail_html() filter is a native WordPress hook that allows you to filter images: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/hooks/post_thumbnail_html/ Of course this requires the use of the child theme and some skills in WP. The no-code alternative is the one I provided before, instead.

Thanks for your pointers they helped one thing I notice though when building the post grid using the module, is that the option to add a “read more” link disappears when using products, but shows if using a post. Why is that? Is it not possible to add a read more button to the product grid?

Hi creativ3y3! No sorry it’s not possible have the “read more” with products, sincerely after so many years I never saw a product with this element. The products have the “buy” button. Moreover, even if we are flexible we never show this as an option in all our demos.

I agree it is most likely not going to require it in most situations of ecommerce. The need i have is less of a “read more” and more of a “Discover” or “learn more” about the product as this particular usage is not about buying the product, but rather learn about it. Out the box it seems to show a “read more” on roll over, but I would like to make it more obvious. Would you be aware of a hook or filter that may be able to add this functionality after the excerpt? Adding with javascript creates an issue due to the lazy loading, as it will only show on first shown products, not the rest that presumably load with ajax…

Currently the image when you rollover shows an opacity and a read more bar that appears only over the image, then there is the excerpt beneath the image and no button under the excerpt. I’d like to try to get a more obvious button beneath the excerpt, like this: https://paste.pics/9KDT1

Thanks, appreciate it. As I say I did get something to work with Javascript, injecting a botton in, but the downside being that when it lazy loads it wont fire the script and the buttons don’t appear on the freshly loaded products

A developer will look at this next week, we’ll give you a quick fix (and we don’t guarantee that this is the final implementation, so from the next update it’s possible you’ll have to insert the option back). Thanks really appreciate that. I have one last question, promise! On the build query of the module, when you insert a Taxonomies (Post Types) to filter by. There is also “Selective Elements” underneath that says “Only entered posts/pages will be included or excluded in the output. Note: Works in conjunction with selected “Post types”. When I add a product in selected elements I had hoped to exclude it from the output. But it just brings back that product only. Is there something extra I need to do to make it exclude instead?

You have to click on the “plus” to transform in the “minus”.

Hi codingcrazy! I don’t think this is an issue of the theme if everything worked fine and not something it’s broken (moreover an issue of the theme is replicable in all the installations). Also the consent issue is not replicable in our demo, and we don’t have other reports, probably it’s related to some cache issue but it’s not possible to debug in words from here.

I checked and the video issue seems to be related to the cache in fact. When logged (not cached) there is no issue. If I exclude the page from caching, there is also no issue. I asked to WP-cache team to look into it since makes no sense to exclude every page that has a cookie consent.

On the other hand, regarding the long wait for admin-ajax.php I see some of your pages taking up to 10 seconds to fully load, although admin-ajax.php calls will have no more than half a second wait.

Any idea what can be going on there?

Hi codingcrazy! If you have a Vimeo video in all pages of your website all the pages are variable upon user consent, so these cannot be cached as explained in the documentation.
admin-ajax.php is related to server resources or possible extra plugins you use, the requests that are used are very light and only for the use of Adaptive Images.

I will make a fresh instance (lightsail) and install the theme for testing purposes, to add the plugins one by one to see if I can find out when the admin-ajax gets slow.

Well having a closer look the major delay on admin-ajax comes from the Async Adaptative Images loader… turning it off greatly improves page loading, making it a couple seconds faster. I just don’t understand how something that is supposed to improve page loading actually makes it worse.

Yes this is exactly what you told you above, the admin-ajax.php is used by the Adaptive Images but this where you see the problem, not the root cause of the problem since any Uncode installation use this feature, the problem is that now for some reasons the admin-ajax.php requests are slow on your site.

Well, I don’t know what to tell you. I tried deactivating everything that is not essential for the theme (left only your recommended plugins).

Fastest load is 1.8 so let’s take that as the baseline for the server, database, etc… regardless of plugins. Which is good all considered.

If I add the plugins one by one, then some don’t change at all the oad time, some add a little bit. But all and all, the most I get is 3 seconds. Which I would also consider acceptable given the circumstances.

Now, if I use Async Adaptative Images the time doubles. On top of that, I use EWWW (one of the plugins you list as compatible) which works perfectly for the full size, thumbnails and Uncode Adaptative Images (async or not)... BUT, if I ask to use webP images rather than JPEG, the website don’t change the smallRes picture for the real one after ends loading (either stays the bad resolution picture, or the blurred one if you activate the blur effect). So not only takes longer, it doesn’t even show the right picture. I checked and the images are created, and there is no errors on the console.

Yes I was just updating the font sizes, I have the following:

Default – 14 Large – 18 H1 – 35 H2 – 18 H3 – 15 H4 – 20 H5 – 16 H5 – 15

Plus a lot of custom font sizes. What is the problem?
