I could use some help installing the update. I’m not familiar with using FTP so I’d rather stay away from using that but I’ve deactivated my current Avada theme and tried installing the new theme but I get the same error that the folder already exists. I’d rather not try anything else before I get some solid direction because I’d hate to screw something up. Thanks!

FTP is the best way, but if you do not want to do that then you need to delete the current Avada theme via wordpress. Once you deactivate it, then you will have an option to delete it. Once you delete it, you can install the new one without issue.
And if you want, email me your FTP info and I can install it that way for you. But either way will work, your content will not be lost if you delete the theme folder, the content is stored in your database and will still be there when you install the new one.

Oh man, I installed the new theme and now my whole site is messed up. I should have never updated….

Updating is always a good idea, something must of not been done right.
How did you update the theme? Did you read the READ ME FIRST file about the plugins? Did you do this all via Wordpress or via FTP?
You cant have both old and new plugins installed. Email me your FTP and WP login info and I will check it out. It sounds like you only need to delete the old standalone plugins from the “wp-content > plugins” folder.
I know you are not familiar with using FTP but its no different than moving or changing files in your regular computer structure, all you are doing is accessing the files for your website on your server.

The text inside the box is changed in your theme options. There is a h2 heading and body copy. In theme options there is a heading color field and a body font color field on the “styling” tab, along with many others, but those are the two you need to change.
Our v2.0 and higher version of Avada has all of that accessed in theme options. If you only want to change the heading and body copy inside the box, but still have other headings and body copy different, then you would need custom CSS as I gave before. If that is the case, then email me your URL of your site and I can give it to you.

I’d like to put a tagline under my logo in the header like, “we make the best stuff in the world!”, so it will appear on every page, but I can’t figure out how to do this. Any thoughts?

You would need to make it apart of your logo file. If not then it would take numerous code adjustments.
Add the tagline to your logo file, then upload the new logo.

Hi, I’m wondering if it’s possible to use the recentworks shortcode twice on a page and/or to call the carousel twice. Any tips on what may need to be modified in jQuery or otherwise in order to do this would be great. I’d like to use the same code snippet to feature another scrolling section on the site’s homepage. Any ideas?

Not sure why it wouldn’t work for me, but I’m not using the newest release and when I use the shortcode twice on the same page, [recent_works][/recent_works], only the first instance displays.
I’ve also tried just using the carousel div markup outside of the shortcode, (see below), but I have the same issue. This works fine on its own, i.e having one instance of the slider on the page, but as soon as I add a second slider, only the first will work. I’d like to have two as we’re using the recent works to display portfolio content, but the client wants the same style of carousel to display Sponsors & Press, like in the code below…

Maybe its due to the new release, I would download and install the new version. I just tested it out on v2.0.5 and it works for us.

I’m using content boxes and want to only showcase one category in them. I have added cat_id=”12” but then I don’t get any content at all printed out.
What am I’m doing wrong?

Do you mean the recent news or recent work shortcode? Content boxes do not take categories.
For the cat=””, you need to input the slug name, not the number.
That will work for either the recent news or recent work shortcode.

Within FlexSlider How can we keep image sizes the same on the slide so that the overall look is consistent? This might include outside images which aren’t hosted on wordpress. I haven’t been able to do this.

Yes the best thing to do is make sure all your images in the slides are the same size. the slider is responsive so it will adjust for each image.
for example, our demo has all images in the FlexSlider as 940×434 so its all consistent.

Yep, the Revolution Slider and the Layer Slider both take any type of HTML content. So you can create an HTML form in either of those sliders.

No problem … Yes you can use any slider on any page and use it anywhere on the page via shortcodes. And any slider can be any size you want, just input your sizes and specs in the slider settings

Why doesn’t the revolution slider work like it should? My experience with the revolution slider is you can move layers around with your pointer – instead of manually entering it in. Why doesn’t it do this?

It should work and does for us. I have to assume you are using Wordpress 3.5 and an older version of the Revolution Slider.
The old version is not compatible with WP 3.5, so it wont work and will have those issues you described.
Download the latest version of Avada, v2.0.5 and update your theme. It will contain the new Rev. Slider plugin that works with WP 3.5.
Also, please read the READ ME FIRST file, specifically No. 5 in the list, the plugins are now integrated into the theme and explains how the update will process.
Update the theme and the new plugin will take over and work.

We are using Avada theme v1.0.9. Because the site is already made, we can’t risk using new theme v2, so we need a solution for some issues regarding Portfolio.
1. How can we in Portfolio with 3 columns show 12 items instead of 10 items per page? 12 items look better than 10 items per page, as we have 3 columns there. I can’t see option inside Theme options in back-office. For example: http://www.filipsmarina.com/gallery/
2. In Portfolio page, when we want to filter the category, in portfolio-tabs part, it only filters portfolios on loaded page, doesn’t load first 10 items from selected category.
Which PHP scripts and/or parts can we check this and change?

1. that’s easy, just go to the basic tab in theme options and change the “Portfollio Items Per Page” to the number you want.
2. Yes, this is how filters work in Wordpress, the only way around that is to insert -1 in the “Portfolio Items Per Page” option I described above. That will always show all items on one page, therefor the filters will work for all items.
No PHP or scripts are needed for that, just change the theme options.

Portfolio Items Per Page did the trick (I don’t know why I didn’t see that from theme options. Also, we’ve split the gallery into several gallery pages which are accessible via menu, so the filtering options were not needed anymore. I didn’t catch right away that we can have several gallery pages loading only one category. That did the trick.

There is huge vulnerability in LayerSlider 3.5 that allows anyone remove it without access to admin + a bunch of stuff. Take a look at line 50 in layerslider.php

The layer slider has been updated from the author, its now v3.6 and its included with our new Avada v2.0.5.
Download the latest version and install it. Please read the READ ME FIRST file, specifically No. 5 in the list, the plugins are now integrated into the theme.
Also, the layer slider is not made by us so any updates or issues have to come from Kreatura, the author. But they are very good about keeping things up to date, and have released the new v3.6 already and we have included it with our new update.

Yes you can use one slider selected in the page options box, that will be the main slider that shows up top directly below the header.
Then if you want a second slider to show, then insert it in the post content via the shortcode [layerslider id=”1”]
Just verify the shortcode is correct, then insert it in the post content field.

Yes , you need to go to the menu section of your admin and set the “main” navigation in the “main navigation” box.

Great theme which is exactly what I was looking for.
However, when I click on ‘Revolution Slider’ I get the following error.
View (sliders) Error: fetch – Table ‘db439639143.e75o3ea4kcwp_revslider_sliders’ doesn’t exist

I am using version 2.0.5 and I have reinstalled WP 3.5, with no effect, any suggestions please ?
Also, in this release when going to Widgets, they seem to be disabled and cannot be moved to a sidebar, is this correct ?

All themes are like that on Themeforest. The purchases have to be verified, and the only way to do that is to download it from your account when signed in.
This is not something we specifically do ourselves, this is just how it works for Themeforest themes.
All of them are like that here. There may be a few themes that worked in an auto updater, but the authors take a huge risk in doing that. There is this little thing called “piracy” that happens online and unfortunately it does affect themes greatly. Themeforest does not have a solution for auto updates at this time and the way they do it is for the authors protection.
But its easy to do, just download the new version and replace the current “avada” theme folder via ftp. Or deactivate the current theme via wordpress, then install the new one. It only takes a minute or two, its really not hard or time consuming.
As soon as TF gives authors an option to auto update themes and verify the purchase, then we will be the first ones to jump on it.
No, you don’t have to update to v2.0.5, if you are happy with your site then there is no need
