How do I set up the initial screen for the blog section with the summary of the blog posts, like the one you have here (http://themeforest.net/item/salient-responsive-portfolio-blog-theme/full_screen_preview/4363266)? I believe this is probably very easy to do, but I am new to Wordpress so I am having a little of difficulty.

“If you’d like all of your videos to default to HD, just go to your account settings and select the “Videos” tab. Under “What about source files, mobile, and HD embedding?” select “Always play my videos in HD, when possible” and then click the “Save as default” button.”
Yeah, I didn’t do anything special to the external videos on the live demo, just pasted the embed code right in

Yes, as you mentioned above, I didn’t do anything special. That user just uploaded the video in HD.

In the text view of your editor add the class “pp” to any image link. Here’s an example:

Good morning! And thanks for this very useful theme. I have few questions for you (consider I’m new to both Wordpress and CSS):
1) how can I change the font color to the slider’s subtitle (in your example “Check out the blog”, etc.)?
2) what should I do in order to reduce the font size to the footer widgets?
3) ... and to avoid the “auto reduce font size” when adding html tables?
4) last but not least, how can I have the beautiful mouseover effect on the icons you have on your example (“110% responsive design”, etc.)?

I am in the mist of customizing theme, and I just wanted to reach out first to say thanks for the great work on this, your organization with the theme made it so easy to figure out. I wanted to ask one thing. The Salient logo has a different font than the fonts included in the file. Looks similar to a Sans font but I was hoping to use the same font for another logo. Might you be able to share which font it is specifically?

is it possible to resize the main image from full-width to narrower?

Are you referring to the home slider? If so, you can upload whatever sized image you want.
Thanks. So, will the appearance will be ‘boxed’ or full-width depending on the image size..? I prefer a boxed/framed image to the full-width on the home slider.
Is the background color changeable via the panel?
kberg, changing the BG color would require custom CSS modding; only the accent color is easily changeable via the panel.
Is there an option to have a boxed rather than full-width siider? Are you saying that the image size determines this (in your answer above)?
The arrows will still be on the edge of your screen, so the entire slider will not be boxed, that would require CSS modding.
Amazing theme!!! Quick question – I have an image that I want to sit over the background image in the default template header. So, when the page resizes, it stays the same width / height, and stays vertically and horizontally centered over the top of the header image. And to boot, I’d like a different image on each page!
How would I go about doing this?!

Unfortunately, that would require some additional custom development. There is no way for you to use more than one image in the header setting as of now, so you’d need to make another metabox to store your 2nd image for each page. You’d then need to also set up the new CSS rules to match the behavior you just described. If you don’t feel comfortable taking this on yourself, I have a developer I can recommend

I am trying to help a friend customise your amazing theme.
We are trying to replace the Parallex slider on the Home page with a Revolution Slider.
I deleted the div id”featured”... and its contents on the html and replaced it with a Rev slider call function.
Now everything seems to be working except for a +-20px gap below the Header which I can’t seem to get rid of.
Is there a simple solution to replacing the Parallex slider with a Revolution slider so it is flush with the Header?

Hey, amazing theme, I’m almost sure I will purchase, but had a few quick questions:
- Is it possible to allow for a lightbox for images in a portfolio post? Like if it’s a large infographic which is best seen at its original size? Or a fullscreen gallery for photographs?
- Is there a way to adjust the responsive page breaks/widths? On an iPhone, when viewed horizontally, most of the content is still the same width as the vertical view on the iphone, leaving lots of space on the side that could be filled with the content. Wondering if this could be adjusted (I’ve done it to certain templates in Joomla, but wouldn’t know how this particular theme is setup in WP until installed.) I understand that from a UX standpoint, most people browse in the vertical position, but it’s almost natural to sometimes switch to a horizontal view to fit more in the screen.

1. You can easily add you’re own lightbox images by adding a simple class to the link around your images.
2. You can create your own media query in the responsive styles to target a phone horizontal if you please and have some knowledge of CSS

Hello there. Thank you for the well developed theme. For the question, I would like to use fix the width of header, body and footer. For now, when the browser reaches the certain point, the header, and body, and footer become wider. But minimum width is good for my website and I prefer to fix the layout. So would you let me know which css file should i edit?

Hey vitaonwax! If you open up the responsive.css.php file, there’s a media query right near the top that creates the wide layout. Here’s what it looks like:
@media only screen and (min-width: 1300px) {
.container {
max-width: 1100px;
}
}
Just remove that and you should be good

Hi there, I’m planning to do the following structure with Salient:
Home page in blog style with a list of most recent articles – only excerpts and then linking off to the actual articles
Example, using Salient: http://blog.iconfinder.com/
My question: How could I accomplish the above? There doesn’t seem to be a template for the home page (or any other) that comes close to what I would like to do.

You’d essentially have to create you’re own layout file for that. You can copy the entire contents of index.php as a starting point, then you’d just need to add a query for blog posts with your desired number of posts to show
