Hello, It’s another day and I have installed the Avada theme. I am working through the documentation which is actually proving to be quite straightforward. Good!
I want to give some creative comments here which would clear up any ambiguity arising from the package wording…please read this with a ‘newbie’ head on. The downloaded Avada package has an obvious PDF which says read me first. The information is for updates and the only link in the PDF takes you to the (forum?)and requires you to do all the signup things. This in itself is a distraction from the install. After signup it wasn’t obvious where to go next so I went back to the package for another look.
I looked at the other folders and scanned the contents of each. I was looking for anything that said ‘Installation, Install, Get Started, etc. Today I found inside the documentation folder a plain text file that pointed me to the information I required (why the archaic plain text, why not make it obvious?) – double click on the index.html file it said. Why is this not blatantly obvious and highlighted in the PDF, why do you have to delve into the folders, why call it ‘index’? In the UK the word documentation suggests files not necessarily for immediate use…a better word, ‘instructions’, suggests immediately to anyone, that is where you look first – combine that with word, Install, and boom! No cranky customers! All the pertinent first contact info should be wrapped up in a PDF with links not worded in web jargon, you get enough of that later on. I want to state here that your instructions, when you find them, are actually very good! Yesterday, you suffered the wrath of someone who did all the obvious and was left exasperated by vague instructions. Please make it immediately clear on your opening statement in the PDF that some hosting companies limit uploads. And please make the link to the instructions a priority file not called, index! Please update your install video… Apologies for my tone yesterday! All the best
Thanks for the feedback, I’ll discuss this with my partner.
This is also why we have the “read me first” file in each area. For example, in the documentation file and it tells you what to open. But really the main thing is our documentation file, it has everything you need and it’s online at our support site.
Take a look at the comments here, you will see several posts from us with large bold text stating how to get support, our online docs and other important info.
We can’t include a install off with the theme zip because t makes the file too big and will cause even more users to have the file limit size. We put our support forum info everywhere we can and include those read me first files as well pointing to everything. Maybe we can create a very simple install file but we feel our video tutorials cover that. Install and support is the first part of our docs.
But as I said I will revisit this and see what we can do to help users who have never installed a theme or many themes before.
Thanks, and if you have further questions or need help, sign up at our forum and post a new thread. We also have a for video tutorial showing users how to sign up and use it.
Thanks!
Roger, that! Thanks for listening! I won’t post here again…
No worries, we understand and want to help our users and listen to feedback. Anything we can improve upon we certainly will. I can see a “getting started” type of guide beig very helpful. We can add something additionally o the reade first file maybe. Thatcher be better than having two separate files.

Hi there, This seems to be a cool theme, good job! I have a few questions about Avada: 1. Homepage: is it possible for the slider not to take the whole box space, in order to include a “sign to our newsletter” panel right next to it (see here for example: http://www.productlaunchformula.com/)
1.bis. Is it possible to customize the size (height / width) of the slider?
2. Hover / preview effect: is it possible to add a preview effect on some given words on hover, so that an image or text is displayed?
3. Multilingual: is it possible to have icons (flags) in the header to choose the language of the website?
4. Sidebar: it is possible to change the color of the sidebar to mark the difference with the page content
5. “Ajaxized” header / sider / footer : it is possible to have only the page content reload during navigation?
Thank you!
Thanks!
1. Yes, you would need to insert the slider shortcode in the psot content field, then insert your widget in a sidebar. Or you can put the slider in a 2/3 col, and the newsletter signup shortcode (assuming the plugin you use has one) in the 1.3 column
2. You can use the tooltip for that to display text. See it on our home page, hover over the green body text
3. Yes, you need a language plugin and there is none better than WPML
4. Yes you can do that, there is one global option in theme options to change the color on all pages. Or if you need to do it individually, then you can use CSS to target the page id
5. No sorry bot at this time.
Thank you! a) Concerning 1., is it possible to work with one of your designers for specific requests? b) Concerning 3., does WPML allow to have the language selection button in the header? (I will not be using a sidebar on the homepage) c) does the theme have a “back to top of page” button available?
Hey!
1. We do not offer customization work, but we do offer free support for regular theme use. But it doe snot cover design requests or customizations, but we can help you learn how to use the sliders if you dont need to
b. Yes , it allows you to choose the main menu or the top secondary menu.
c. not at this time, but will be added at some point. But our sticky header is good for that, users can access the menu anywhere on the site/page.
Dear Avada Admin,
i saw BUG in ur theme that after scrolling page when we hover on menu then whole drop down is not able to visible and visible up to screen height( for example hover on shortcodes menu in 13inch screen the all sub menus is visible up to only screen height )
please solve the issue quickly i am going to buy this theme as soon as you remove this bug
Hey
This is not a bug, you are using hte “Sticky Header” correct? The sticky header scrolls itself with the page, so if you are using that half way down the page then a menu that is very long will only show what is on the screen. You need to use the top menu to scroll further down on dropdowns.
That i just how sticky menu’s are, and most likely you will not have menus as long as we do, those are long for our demo to shows users what they can do.
Hi! I just bought your template and I would like to know how can we have 2 langauges pages. Some pages display the langauge icon at the top of the page. Do you have any short code for that?
Hey
There is no shortcode, but you need to use a plugin like WPML for a language switcher, its the best way to go and Avada is 100% compatible. http://wpml.org

Hi ThemeFusion,
Great theme, I have pre-sales question.
Does this theme include any layout manager to create new pages?
Hey
All pages are built using shortcodes and you can combine them in any way shape you’d like. Rearrange them to your liking and vuild your own custom pages. There is not a “page builder” yet, but we are adding one in the future sometime. But you can build custom pages and rearrange stuff as you wish.
Thanks!
Hi ThemeFusion
I have been watching Avada for 8 months, and only reason/s I didnt buy….sticky menu and woo comm!
Only complaint I have, what took you so damn long!!
I wouldn’t mind seeing parallax in the future, would be nice.
Congratulations, great theme
Hey
Glad you came on board! And yes, we are adding a parallax slider in the future, but right now you can do sections on pages.
http://theme-fusion.com/avada/home-version-16/Hey there, I was just wondering if it was possible to have a sliding menu that eases in when someone mouses over the menu item (home, sliders, headers etc.)
This is the perfect example, just mouse over any of the menu links.
Hey
Its possible but would require code customization. You could add this to our feature request thread though on our forum, that is the best place to put request for updates http://theme-fusion.com/forums/topic/avada-feature-requests-3/
Thanks! heading over there now to add the gazzilionth request lol!
Awesome, thanks! I think this has been asked at least a few times now so the more we see it there the higher chance it gets added.
Thanks!

Hi, I am thinking about buying this template, but I do have a quick question… On the home page where the rotating banner if pictures is would I be able to embed videos rather than have all the slides be pictures, or is it only coded for pictures? I need to be able to embed videos there, but all I see in your’s is the photos? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!
Yes you can embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo. See our slider options on the demo under “Sliders” menu item. There are several video examples.
Thanks!
I’ve been designing for 15+years. Never used themes until I started getting clients who wanted WP. Never found any… ANY….. EVER…. that covered everything I was looking for, until now. Absolutely the best WP theme available.
Wow thank you for the kind words!! That’s very nice to hear, we appreciate the feedback!

Hi, please visit my site at http://customindprods.com.s164537.gridserver.com/test-2/
Under the slider, theres the three call to actions, “beautifully simplistic, free support, blissful layout”
My question is, I want the background of each of these three to be different. I know how to change the background color, but it changes them for all of them. What would be the best way to approach this so all three can have different background colors of my choice?
Thanks. Great theme.
Hey
Unfortunately there is not an easy way to do this, you would need to customize the shortcodes.php file and know how to edit PHP. Its setup to have one background color per set of boxes.
Thanks!
Have a quick question. I want to install buddypress on Avada for only
managing user profiles (including profile related bp plugins) managing user messaging
Will this theme support?
We have not tested buddypress or have dedicated styles for it but from one user report, it seems to be working with well Avada.
We have not tested it ourselves, but a user just told us the other day that it works without issue. You can see his comment a few pages back, it was about a week at most ago. We do have plans to fully test it at some point but I do not have an ETA for that.
Thanks!
Hi,
is there any possibility to get the full change log with: - files added - files modified with lines affected
It would be very practical for the theme update process.
Thanks a lot for your help
I’ll try to document file changes from the next patch hopefully but documenting each code change might not be possible.
Hey
There is a full changelog with all changes. ITs on our item page, and included with the theme download (changelog.txt)
But the actual file changes is not done, we dont give that info out. Most of the time so many files change that its not worth it. Secondly, we use to do this and too many users tried to update individual files and did not do it correctly and it create a lot of wasted time for us in support.
But we can revisit providing the file changes for very small updates. I’ll discuss this with Muhammad.
Thanks!
I’m already using this theme for some of my clients as well as our own portfolio. Nice work! If I could suggest one development for the future it would be to make the theme wider, or at least have that as an option.
Hey
Thanks for the purchases! Yep, we have plans to make it use a wider framework in the future.
Thanks!
Great! And while I have the microphone, what about an events function/calendar? And… I’m always on the lookout for good restaurant themes. A restaurant menu option maybe? (I’m not demanding, but I know you guys like to keep busy.
)
For events calendar, the theme is compatible with Event Espresso, or there are several more out there to choose from. For stuff like that, its best to keep that functionality in a dedicated plugin.
Thanks!
Thanks for the info.

Hello, I purchased this theme last night and today I have spent four hours trying to upload the zip file? The package downloaded contains a zip and many other folders and files. If i click on the zip file it produces an Avada folder – this folder when selected via the wordpress ‘upload’ method does not work nor does the ‘raw’ zip file – both produce the wordpress error ‘Try Again’. There is no obvious zip file or obvious folder to upload? Your Youtube video is out of date showing WP 3.2 and an incorrect description of how the package looks when downloaded? Why is this so complex, is there an issue with the downloadable files? Thanks
You can just upload the extracted Avada folder after extracting Avada.zip file through FTP in wp-content/themes/ folder and then activate from WP-admin page. Your host might have file size limit on uploading through wp-admin page.
Sorry, why do I have to ftp with Bluehosts? They don’t have a limit! Besides, where are the instructions for Avada FTP installations? I’m about three seconds away from finding another theme!
I also bought last night another theme from Crikova called Socha – he hasn’t sold too many, but he provides a nice PDF that you can open alongside as you install. Easy! It only took a moment. I read that the Avada theme was well documented, where are the documents please? Why are they not with the download package?
They are available when you download the main package instead of just theme zip. However, they are also hosted on our site http://theme-fusion.com:
http://theme-fusion.com/avada-documentation/ http://theme-fusion.com/avada-shortcodes/ http://theme-fusion.com/avada-video-tutorials/You host might have a limit and there is no other reason that you cannot upload a zip file.
Hey!
Im sorry but yes … if it wont upload via WP then its absolutely a file limit/memory limit. That is the ONLY explanation. And here is info form you host talking about this exact thing. https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/110
Just install it via FTP, its easy to do.
And yes, we do have full documentation. Its included in the main files download from themeforest, and also online at our support forum,
http://theme-fusion.com/avada-documentation/And we have a READ ME FIRST file included with the avada.zip file that explains all of this.

Hello, These are your advertising words on themeforest – ‘Beautifully Simplistic. If you’re a code nerd or a Word Press newbie, Avada is for you. It’s simply built for everyone, and can be as simple or complex as you want it to be.’ Read that Bluehost post you suggested and any ‘newbie’ would die! Why can’t Avada be uploaded through the normal means? The zip upload is generic to WP – every video and help file says the same!
Hey,
Did you not read our message? Your host, blue host has a file limit size and from what we read online it only allows 2mb size, which is very small. Avada is about 10mb in size and if wager 90% of themes here on Thwforest are well above 2mb in size. You have to upload it via FTP. That is so easy to do and takes 1 minute.
This is not somethig we control , upload it via FTP or contact your host to increase the file size limit.
Nobody, out of 33,0000 users has ever had an issue with this. Yes, some have to upload it via FTP, but they do it quickly and without issue. Your hosting configurations and limitations are out of our control.
We provide you with info on how to upload via FTP. There is nothing else we can do and this is not an issue with Avada or a downside. It’s simply the facts.
Please refrain from continuing to post such comments, it’s completely unnecessary and unwarranted. You could have easily installed the theme via FTP long ago.
If you need help, post on our support forum. We will gladly install it for you via FTP.
Thanks
Bluehost is not a small company. Yes, I looked and saw the file limit was two meg…sorry for not being up to date in your world! The whole point about WP is that it is supposed to eliminate all the unnecessary complications associated with website/blog creatition. Where is your setup documentation? Where does it say…if your host has a limit of 2mb upload you will need to FTP? The Themeforest-Avada spiel portrayed is not an accurate account of what a customer can expect. It is so easy to supply facts to people if there is someone testing the possible permutations in the field. I have bought your theme in good faith and have found it lacking. You are irked that I have hit on a raw nerve. You need to provide an Installation PDF for WP 3.6 and update your videos to fix the issues you are not speaking of…
I’m very sorry but what you are saying is wrong. The size of Bluehost has no relevance on the situation. Those are the simple facts, and installing a theme via FTP is simple, it does not complicate thing and does not remove any added bonus of using Wordpress. Its very difficult to understand where you are coming from.
Where is your setup documentation?
As I’ve already stated and provided you link’s here is our online documentation that states how to install , and the error message you amy receive if your host has a file limit.
http://theme-fusion.com/avada-documentation/#wpInstalling on WP 3.6 is no different than installing on a different version of WP.
And no Im not “urked” in any way shape or form. The facts are the facts, and Im simply giving them to you. You have overreacted to the most imple thing that might be required. And this is not unique to Avada in any way, most themes here are well over 2MB in size. A theme that is 2MB or under, is a very simple theme, liek a default Twenty Twelve theme.
Again, Im baffled as to why this is an issue. And as IU stated before, we will gladly install the theme for you if you post on our forum. There is no reason for you not to take us up on that offer and no reason to continue to complain about this non-issue.
Please excuse the typos, I’ve been typing on my iPhone.
Just to reiterate to be sure you understand some things …
1. Your host has a file limit size of 2MB. That is very small and has nothing to do with our theme. You need to upload it via FTP or call them to work that out. We are not in control of Bluehost
2. Documentation – we have full online documentation, its a full web page with a TOC and has big screenshots, and videos along with very detailed information. These docs are online, and also included with our “main files” package.
3. We also include a READ ME FIRST file that shows you where our docs are at, and also our support forum where we provide free support. We provide more than enough information for our users.
4. We will gladly install the them for you if you are uncomfortable with using FTP. Or simply check out our docs for detailed instructions on how to install via FTP.
