Hi TN,
Amazing update as ever, while I never thought I’d want a page builder, the implimentation is fantastic, and such a time saver. Thanks!
Looking at the new Image Gallery Element, I was wondering if a future style could include titles and captions, which idealy could be placed in another row/container via a shortcode?
Thanks again, Peter
Hey Peter, I’m really glad you dig it!
I definitely will be adding additional styles to that element going forward and i’ll note your suggestion
Cheers!
And so my problem has been resolved. After 25 years in the marketing and support business, I can tell you two truths:
1. It is more important how fast bad news travels in your organization than good news.
2. How an organization responds to a problem is more important than glowing references.
My intention with this thread was to ensure that item number one was occurring with support and to see what my long term expectations would be in reference to item 2. Moreover, my comments here were not intended to maliciously criticize this developer, but merely share my experience compared to other themes I use.
I can honestly say that this theme is incredible and well documented. And when support did get to my ticket, the ticket was resolved thoughtfully, thoroughly and frankly, exceeded my expectations. At times, the ticket time may be a bit longer because of backlog. However, the capabilities of the theme and its simplicity, in addition to the thorough response and level of effort of that response make it worth while. I would still rate Salient as one of the top 5 themes here on this site, after using many of the products on Themeforest. You cannot go wrong in purchasing this theme and I would recommend it to anyone.
Hey again bigtime32, I appreciate that a lot and again, apologize for the initial delay. Now that v3.0 was finally finished & released I’ve been able to dedicate myself even more to the forums so the average wait till will be back to normal soon
Cheers!
Dude! I just updated to v3.0 and you have crushed it! This is exactly what I was talking about in my comments to you in private ticketing. Wow! You may have just put together the best theme here! Very, very excited. Thanks for such a great theme.
Hey bigtime32!
I’m so gad you dig it
Cheers!
Hi The update is great, congratulations. After I have the update installed, between the header and slider a white surface. How can I fix it?
Thanks
Hey dc-motion!
Please check out my two new tutorials regarding the page builder to answer any questions you may have – for this in particular, see this segment: http://youtu.be/N4mt0lOJ888?t=3m25s

Hi Nectar,
I have a question about webm video in the nectar sliders.
When I use this: http://themenectar.com/demo/salient/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/onemore.webm .. the webm video runs fine. My own webm videos don’t run though. When I download the onemore.webm video and place it on my server with FTP, it also doesn’t run.
I didn’t have a .htaccess file, so I created one in notepad and put mime type info in it: AddType video/mp4 mp4 AddType video/mp4 m4v AddType video/ogg ogv AddType video/webm webm AddType video/webm webmv
I put this file in the root of the server (where wp-config.php is located) with FTP but it doesn’t work. Any ideas?
Hey robin1971!
If the videos are not parsing on your server only then the issue must be in relation to that .htaccess mod. You mentioned you didn’t have an .htaccess to begin with, but WordPress automatically creates one for you in every install so you might have somehow ended up looking in that wrong place (even though your location sounds right from what you’ve described). I would contact your hosting company and ask them to ensure those media types are able to be parsed.
Cheers
Thanks for you reply! I overlooked something crucial, I am running this on IIS instead of Apached
.. After messing around with webconfig files I decided to just add the mimetypes on IIS level. Problem fixed!
Great update to 3.0 btw! Keep up the good work!
That’s great to hear
Cheers!
After updating to the latest version of the theme it’s not loading in any images which do not have the full URL. If we use image URL’s such as /wp-content/uploads etc these do not work. We now have to go through the entire site and add our domain name to the front of each image URL. Frustrating!
Hey superflymarketing,
nothing was changed in 3.0 that could effect such a thing – if you could supply me a URL to a page that’s failing to load your relative image sources I’d be glad to take a look at what the problem is
Cheers
That’s odd, it was occurring on every single page where images were loaded within shortcodes that didn’t use the full URL (e.g a full width section background image). We’ve now gone through the whole site and added the domain to the front of the URL.
Weird – perhaps you could still swap one of them back to use the relative URL so I could check for any errors?
Cheers
Hey Nectar,
I’m having problems when I import any picture. What could be the problem?
Hey edercapoia,
what’s the issue/error that’s happening when you import your images? I’ll need that at least to be able to point you in the right direction
Cheers!
Hey Nectar,
Just some questions about customizing the blog area some.
1- I’ve chosen the Masonry blog with sidebar style and was just curious as to how I can change the color of the box that the content sits in?
2- How would I go about placing a drop shadow underneath the pictures in blog posts?
3- Blog page background color?
4- I have the Really Simple Share plugin and the issue with it is that the share buttons appear in a few places that they shouldn’t. For example, on the default full width style portfolio page (salients preset default page) at the bottom and below a super simple about me page that only has a 1/2 1/2 in it.
As always, you’ve blazed your own trail with this theme. I’ve never seen anything like it and congrats on it’s selling success…. .
-CS
Hey CSMurphy!
1. Add this to your custom css box:
#search-results .result, .masonry-blog-item {
background-color: #000!important;
color: #fff!important;
}
2.
article.post .content-inner .post-featured-img img {
box-shadow: 0px 1px 4px rgba(0,0,0,0.3);
}
3.
.blog .container-wrap {
background-color: #ff5e54!important;
}
4. Can you supply me a URL showing this so I can help out?
Cheers!
Is there a way of supplying you a link without having to turn my maintenance mode off?
I would need a log in so I could bypass the mode – you could open a private ticket on the support forums in regards
Cheers!
It seems all but the drop shadow code for blog posts is working correctly.
Any thoughts?
I’ve taken maintenance mode off for you to look at . I’ll keep it off till I hear from you.
csmurphy.com
The share buttons also show up at the bottom of the contact page.
I also noticed a thin white line that appears at the bottom of the header on the home page that only shows when you scroll upward.
Sorry for all the replies. It’s been a rather brain fart of a day.
Hey again CS! Unfortunately it appears your maintenance mode is back on – could you disable it one more time so I could see today?
Cheers
Hey Nectar I started a ticket in regards to this.
Thanks – I’ll be with you shortly
Hi,
I love your feature in the desktop view when I scroll down, the logo will be smaller but if I want to make it smaller than your default setting? Is that would be possible? Which code I need to mend on?
Also, the white area for the menu can I scale it to be shorter than it should be?
Many thanks, Yota
That’s alright. I have figured out the first part.
But still have no idea for the 2nd one. How can I make the menu bar (white header area) shorter and move the menu items a bit lower to the content area?
and 3rd question. On contact page, the image is uploaded but there is no sign of custom marker appears in the map. Please help.
Many thanks,
Hey Yota!
2. Add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel:
.sf-menu {
position: relative!important;
top: 20px!important;
}
3. Make sure you’ve turned on location #1 as well, just entering a lat and lng for the center point won’t add a marker.
Cheers!
Thanks a lot, it all works great apart from the menu bar, there are still some more issues about it.
I think I will move this to your support ticket system.
Please could you assist me from there. Best
Hey again Yota, I’ll be with in on that ticket as soon as I can
Cheers
Is the blue tint on the video on this page added on manually onto the video or can the blue tint over the image done through the theme? And if it’s done through the theme, how was the tint achieved?
http://themenectar.com/demo/salient/about/about-us-extended/I’ve figured out that it was added on through the theme, which is amazing. Can you add tints to images as well through the theme or is it just for videos?
Hey buzzer555!
As of now you can only add color overlays to videos, but I will look into extending that for the next update
Cheers!
Hi, I’m a prospective buyer and I’d like to know if a fully functioning grid portfolio can be added as an element on a single page scroll website, as opposed to being separate on a standalone page.
Thanks!
Hey johnnyloh! Yes, you can place a portfolio anywhere on any page
Cheers!
I’m having (I assume) a jquery conflict with a video plugin I’m using; Sublime Video HTML5 http://wordpress.org/plugins/sublimevideo-official/
On Salient theme, the player doesn’t work. On all other themes I’ve tried, it does. I couldn’t find anything specific in the /js/ folder it’s conflicting with … has anyone tried this plugin with Salient? I have a paid account with sublime so I don’t want to move plugins …
Actually, might have fixed my own problem
That’s good to hear Sean
What did the problem turn out to be?
Cheers!
I never quite worked it out; but they unleashed a new version of the plugin which fixed the conflict it seems.
Can see it in action here http://www.weareneverleaving.com
Oh I see – well I can confirm I don’t see any issues in Firefox or Chrome with the video player currently
Cheers
Loving the changes, working through converting the odd thing here and there that needs to be changed.
Hoping that this is where Salient moves to (as in from now on – so we don’t have to do this again to suit another style editor!!)
With regard to the new map shortcode, I gather you can only have one instance of the map shortcode on a page?
I made a master map and then smaller maps next to text elements and the master map at the top of the page only had the one location displayed… Any idea if this can be changed? Kind of limited…
Many thanks (keep up the great work!!) Dan
Hey Dan!
Yes, currently the map element can only be used once per page – which is still a big step up from the functionality from pre 3.0 as you could only have one map period displaying up to 10 locations. I have noted to extend this further to allow multiple instances on the same page, but opted out of that development for 3.0 because time was limited.
Cheers
Thanks for the quick reply, would it be possible to extend the map to the page sides and not just the central position (ie: margins)? The old map was as wide as the screen was wide but this new map is only as wide as the page center.
Yes, please check out my new video tutorials regarding the page builder as all the fundamentals are covered like this point: http://youtu.be/N4mt0lOJ888?t=2m23s
Cheers!
Cool!!
Thanks so much for the video, explained it down to the tee!
No problem at all
Hi nectar,
Your theme is really great but for some reason when i try to view a page i wanted to start working on the page wasnt showing any content.. It was supposed to show the dummy about page content.
Can you plz help?
Something with body.scrollTop is deprecated in strict mode.
..
Site is http://wsr-argo.nl/over/argo/ and its supposed to look like this page http://themeforest.net/item/salient-responsive-multipurpose-theme/full_screen_preview/4363266
I got this issue with multiple pages.
And some pages have a weird padding-bottem: 40px in their css, what looks really weird in the page.
This is the error i get:
body.scrollTop is deprecated in strict mode. Please use ‘documentElement.scrollTop’ if in strict mode and ‘body.scrollTop’ only if in quirks mode. body.scrollLeft is deprecated in strict mode. Please use ‘documentElement.scrollLeft’ if in strict mode and ‘body.scrollLeft’ only if in quirks mode. event.returnValue is deprecated. Please use the standard event.preventDefault() instead.
Hey GodsHiron! That’s pretty weird – I can’t see that specific error coming up in the console, but if you can allow me to log in I’d be glad to take a look at what the issue is
Please open a private ticket at http://themenectar.ticksy.com/
Cheers!
Hello guys,
Thank you for nice theme! Now it’s much easier to manage content with Visual Composer, great addition
I’ve noticed one bug: it’s impossible to add 2 and more Google Maps into one page. I tried to add several maps into different tabs, rows etc. But unfortunately it doesn’t work, only the first one is displayed
I’ve noticed the same issue with 2 portfolio items added with shortcodes into different tabs – as result only first portfolio carousel is visible.
Could you please say me how solve this problem above? Thank you very much in advance!
Hope you can answer me soon.
Hey Nekto!
It’s true that the contact map element is only meant to be used once per page – I will note to try and lift this, but extending the functionality of that in the current state would require some significant mods to the map.js file unfortunately.
You should be able to place the actual portfolio shortcode in multiple tabs, but I’ll also test with the project carousel in tabs too. In general using dynamically sized elements in tabs can cause problems when they would work fine outside of them.
Cheers
Thank you for quick response! Ok, I try to solve it by myself. Hope you will fix this issues in future updates
You’re welcome – and I’ll definitely be trying to for the next release
Hello,
Loving the theme. One question – is there an easy way to link to a portfolio page sorted to show one category?
E.g. photography and design categories, and separate links on my homepage that both direct to the portfolio page. I want to be able to link to the same portfolio but show the one specific category (specific to the link clicked) when the page loads. (sort of like an anchor tag)
Thanks!
Hey angusware,
unfortunately there’s no way to switch the starting category within the same portfolio page dynamically, but you can link to a direct category by doing:http://your-url.com/project-type/your-category
Cheers
I’ve recently updated my Salient install on my website. Everything looks good except that there is a noticeable space to the right between the scroll bar and the container wrapper.
I’ve messaged you a link to show you what I mean. Any way to fix this?
Hey Olimess! I just checked out your link and can’t seem to see anything out of the ordinary like you’ve described – tested with Chrome & Firefox on a Mac. Have you cleared your cache since the update?
Cheers
I’ve figured out the problem. I use AddThis to add social sharing to my website. The problem has to do with AddThis injecting a Div with an ID of _atssh. This Div adds unwanted space in the latest Salient update. I used CSS to target the _atssh ID and fix this issue.
#_atssh {
position: fixed !important;
}
That’s great to hear – thanks for letting me know what the issue was
Cheers!
hello…pre-sale question. does your version of visual composer allow you too add sidebar widgets? thanks!
Hey klvo! You can place a widgetized sidebar, yet – but not individual widgets outside of a sidebar area.
Cheers
Just want to say v3.0 rules! it is amazing to see how much it became easier to use this template! I love it now even more!
But as I cannot help my self for asking more: -Custom Navigation bar menu (it can be nice to have them anywhere in the page they can be part of page builder element?) -Navigation bar for blog pages!
Thank you again
Thanks so much ekapkin!
Good idea – I will note this for the next release
Cheers!
After the update I have a problem with my homepage. The code is not showing up in the editor anymore, but the page is still there when i view it. The code from my other pages do show up in the editor, its only the code from the home that is not showing up.
Hey juistevorm,
anyway you could allow me to log in quickly so I can see what’s going on? If so shoot me an email at themenectar@gmail.com
Cheers
Fatal error : Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in /public/sites/www.juistevorm.nl/wp-includes/js/tinymce/langs/wp-langs.php
Luckily it’s an easy fix! Here’s the steps to take:
1. Add this line to your wp-config.php file which is located at the root of your WordPress install:
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '128M');
Cheers!
Needed to upgrade my hosting as 64M wasn’t enough.
Thanks for posting back with your verified solution
Cheers!
Hi ThemeNectar,
Thank you for the excellent update! It is awesome
I have a question; I want to make the font of all text elements in the homeslider: (1) colored white (independently of the headers in the page content) (2) use open-sans font as they appeared in previous versions
The update seems to have undone my existing custom CSS settings, so an updated custom CSS solution will be highly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.
Hey tomsato!
Can you also share a URL for me so I can see what’s going on? The Home Slider still has white open sans text styling by default.
Cheers
Hi ThemeNectar,
it appears to have been a problem in my child theme file, when I actually switched to parent theme the problem disappeared!
Sorry about that… and thank you once again for the superb update and your fantastic support
OOps found a different problem, my animated bar graphs no longer seem to be working at all since updating to version 3, it was working fine in previous version… can you please tell me what needs to be done to resolve this?
My URL is shown here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/86001863/URL%20link.txtThank you in advance
Hi Themenectar,
I managed to fix the problem, a plugin turned out to be the culprit!
Hey again!
I’m glad you sorted the issue
Also, in regards to the bar graph not animating – that sounded just like a cache problem.
Cheers!
