Regarding header height, logo always resizes to fit the height of header / menu. What exactly is the problem on your end?

size of logo adapts to header height. So if you increase header height logo will adapt to it. You can adjust header height in Qode -> Header and Footer options page.

It’s not only CSS, there is also JavaScript function calculating the size of the logo based on size of the header. You can try to find them in default_dynamic.php in js folder and default.js.

You can make change to the code to quote post type and add featured image to the single blog post. We always recommend making that change using child theme, so you can upgrade main theme later.
