Hi. I’ve purchased the theme about a month and a half ago. I’m trying to change the colors from Admin>Appearance>Styles & Colors but it doesn’t change any color at all. The changes are saved and shown at the backend but obviously not shown at the frontend. I have to make the changes manually through the style.css file. Shouldn’t the changes made through the admin area be saved and shown at the frontend as well? Is there a bug with this version of smartmag? I would really appreciate a heads up on this matter. Hey Rusel,
One of common issue is that when users run two copies of WordPress – one in root and one in a directory like /wordpress/. And then they set the the site URL of root to /wordpress/ which serves all the CSS and assets from from the sub-directory. That causes an issue if the main page on the sub-directory (/wordpress/) in this case, gives a 404 Not Found error.

Nice Theme, I am very happy with it. I was able to configure 99% of the theme without help. I have one issue I can’t solve.
How do I control (change categories) of the slider in the Home Page (Advance) template, located in the first block of the “Main Home” page.

Glad to know you were able to configure it without issues.
When you edit your home-page, there are two slider options. The first uses posts you manually marked as “Featured Slider Post?”, whereas the second option shows the most recent posts automatically.

it seems either your webhost is a little slow, one of the plugins is slow, or there are too many plugins. SmartMag executes within less than 1 second on most webhosts but it’s taking longer there.
A cache plugin is generally not really necessary, but in your situation, you must add a cache plugin like W3 Total Cache – that will greatly improve your load times. If that doesn’t help, please create a topic at our Support Forums with your admin info (in a private reply) and we’ll check it out for you.

This is a great looking theme, but I have a question about images if you don’t mind before I go ahead and buy it – how are images added to articles in this theme?
Is there an easy way to show the image author and a link to the author with each photograph? For example, we currently use Wordpress captions to add images, as in this link – http://bit.ly/1gLtLy2 – can we do something similar with this theme?

1. The default featured images do not include captions but there’s a small modification available at support forums to achieve that – it will be added as default feature in future version. Or you can continue using the same method as in your current theme by disabling the default featured area via Theme Settings and using your image + caption method instead.
2. Trending is just a label. The posts shown there are latest news. You can change the label to anything such as Latest, Fresh In etc.

When you activate the theme, it recommends you to activate few plugins. If you skipped that, go to Appearance > Install Plugins and activate all the recommended plugins.

hi, I just bought it, and I use Polylang. I cannot create two different homepage, the layout that is built using Page Builder gets synchronized between the two versions…even if I deactivate Polylang’s custom fiels synchronization.

Oh well, I’ve hundred of pages translated through Polylang. Simplest fix I found is simply create two pages and not link them, and using a 301 redirect fr.site.com -> fr.site.com/acc and en.site.com -> en.site.com/home works

Pre purchase question. I know this sounds dumb, but can I make ordinary webpages with simple text (incl. home page) and then have a section for my blog. I want to make corporate site – I have looked at all of the templates and this one really is the best.

Do you wish to know if you can add your own text on homepage instead of those post list blocks? You can disable the Sidebar and use the normal WordPress “Visual” editor (the one that’s used to make posts) to enter text into the body (between slider and footer area on left). Not completely sure of what you’re after.
If that wasn’t your question, can you please explain a bit more?

Thanks for your response. I want to add my own pages with text between the header and footer. For example, a page on services, about us, loan types etc. Much like a standard corporate website and then a blog section. Hope that makes sense.

There aren’t any special blocks (such as meet the team or portfolio) available for Corporate sites as it’s a magazine theme. You can definitely create the pages and you can use normal text and Common Shortcodes. But if that doesn’t cover your requirements, then you will have to consider some other Corporate-specific theme.

Hello, Is it possible to put a video (youtube) instead of a “featured image” in the posts ? So in the homepage we can directly play videos instead of clicking in the post to enter the page and watch the video.

By default featured videos are only shown on single post due to performance reasons. You can use “Featured Video Plus” plugin to embed them in other places though.

Hey, Pre-sales question: My friend recommended me this theme for my new Android blog, and I noticed that the thumbnail sizes differ post by post. In the highlight feature type post or any other type, the thumbnail sizes isn’t static (i.e. all thumbnails 250×250px, and so on). Is that feature in the settings i.e., to have a specific thumbnail size? Can we do that with a plugin? If no, I would not be satisfied as looks and speed is my first priority right now.

There thumbnails in the demo are pretty consistent in all the blocks. Obviously due to aesthetics reasons and design decisions, the sidebar and footer widgets thumbnails have a different size. If you aren’t referring to the demo, it’s mostly the thumbnails had to be generated but the user skipped that step on the installation.
