Hi Raj,
It’s difficult to know without looking at your setup but check to see if your menu is configured.
Email me via my profile and we’ll get your account on Hero Themes sorted
Thanks
Hi Chris, great theme btw I just want to ask, is it easy to change the css to RTL?
Hi there,
The theme hasn’t been designed or tested with RTL so I don’t know unfortunately. Sorry about that.
Thanks
Can you please list which files have been updated with 1.1.6?
Hey there,
/framework/wysiwyg/wysiwyg.js category.php functions.php home.php
Thanks
Thanks a lot! So much easier to update when knowing which files, especially if any of these was edited for Child Theme.
No problem, glad it helped
Another question. I noticed that the theme comes with a required plugin: MediaElement.js
However this functionality has been added into WordPress Core already in April last year.
Why is the plugin then still required?
Hi there,
The theme will only require MediaElement if you’re running a version of WordPress < 3.6.
Thanks
Thanks Chris, found the condition in the functions file
Hi Chris, I have a quick question. Although you announce that your KnowHow theme is compatible with WPML it has not been listed as such on the official WPML Theme Compatibility page. Also the theme doesn’t seem to include a wpml-config.xml file, which is a must if you want to be able to translate the theme options. Can you please elaborate? Thanks, Piet
Hi Piet,
Thanks for letting me know about the wpml-config.xml issue, I will be looking at getting this included in the theme and certified in the near future.
Thanks
Hi Chris, thanks for your reply. So basically you are saying that the theme in its current shape is not compatible with WPML?
No not at all. For 99% of customers it’s completely fine. All the front-end translations functions for WPML are supported.
It’s just the admin side translation support that could be improved.
Thanks
But what about the theme options then? Search text, faq permalink slug, footer copyright text, exclude (sub)categories (IDs) on the homepage, I can’t find any of those back in WPML String Translations nor in admin text translations. Am I missing something? Thanks.
Please submit a support request via http://herothemes.com/support/ with your admin details and I’ll take a look into your setup to see what’s going wrong/
Thanks
Hi Chris, that will have to wait as I am doing an assessment for a client who has already purchased the theme. I don’t have the admin details available.
I can assure you though that there is nothing going wrong in the theme setup, I just want to know whether you have made the theme options translatable or not.
I have been looking through the code and I cannot see anywhere how these variables should make it to the WPML String Translations, simply because your theme doesn’t have a wpml-config.xml file.
Take for example the WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast, that even comes with such a file to make it possible to translate the various options.
You have announced that your theme is fully compatible with WPML and even have used their logo for credibility purposes, however on the official WPML theme compatibility page your theme nor your company shows anything towards that credibility.
If you now also cannot answer a simple question, I’m afraid I have to draw my own conclusion, which is that your theme is full incompatible with WPML in its current state.
Hi there,
Thanks for making me aware of the issue. It’s not something that’s has been highlight before by other customers.
I’ll be preparing an update to fix these issues which will be available soon.
Thanks
Cool, I look forward seeing that update. On the WPML website you can find tips on how to put together the config file.
Saw your post about 3.9 shortcode issues. I haven’t found any other issues besides this.
Do you have a temporary workaround for column shortcodes? Specifically, what is the format for the 3 column shortcode (so I don’t have to wait until the update release)?
Hey there,
Here’s the 3 column shortcode for you:
[row][col_third] Column [/col_third]
[col_third] Column [/col_third]
[col_third] Column [/col_third][/row]
Thanks
Is this theme compatible with BuddyPress?
Hey there,
BuddyPress works with any theme out of the box, but this theme doesn’t supply any specific styling/integration for it.
Thanks
Thanks Chris. I’d like to build a knowledge-base that registered users can add to. Do you have any thoughts (through experience, or your customers sites, etc.) on a social networking or membership plugin that has worked well with this theme?
Hi there,
I’ve not tested any solutions myself so unfortunately don’t have any experience in that area.
Thanks
Hello there. I am working on a project involving a website that includes a knowledge base section. The website, as per request of client, is based on another theme (corporate look, etc.). But the KB section you have on Know How theme is just what I’d need: any chance it can be released as a standalone plugin? Thanks!!
Hey there,
It’s only available as a theme at the moment, although that might change in the future
Thanks
Can ANYONE tell me how to activate the CONTACT US page on this template?
Hey there,
The contact page uses this contact form plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/
Thanks
Hi,
I checked the theme demo and I don’t see a video in any of the video posts. Is video embedding from YouTube & Vimeo functional or something you plan to implement in a future release?
Thanks
Hey there,
YouTube & Vimeo embeds are already a feature of the theme. I’ll add a demo page to better demonstrate.
Thanks
nope it does not work with 3.9 numerous errors…
Hey there,
We’re only aware of one issue with the shortcode functions, so please let us know via http://herothemes.com/support/ with the errors you’re encountering and we’ll look into it.
Thanks
Safe to update to WP 3.9 using this theme?
Hey there,
We’re only aware of one issue with the shortcode functions which we’ll be releasing a fix for soon. We’re still testing a few other areas to make sure there are no further issues.
Thanks
How can I fix that? Thanks!
Hey there,

hi, is the Rating System in your plans?
Hey there,
We don’t have any immediate plans for adding a rating system, but it’s not something we’ve ruled out.
Thanks
prepurchase question – we need to build our procedures manual, want to have a forum, faq, news – with 2 different levels of login & access.
what are the differences betwen your “support desk” theme and “knowhow” theme.
which one should we use?
Hey there,
If you want forum (BBPress integration), FAQ and News section, Support Desk has all these features, whereas KnowHow only has a simple FAQ and Knowledge Base.
// 2 different levels of login & access
You would need to use a plugin for this. A popular one would be: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/members/
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks
thanks, buying now!
I am having an issue when I turning sidebars off universally, or on an individual page. They remain. I was told this is a bug 8 days ago. Has this been addressed yet? Thanks!
Hi Carey,
Jonathan has passed the bug report onto me and it’s been added to our queue. We’ve just launched our latest theme, so we’ll be pushing out an update at the weekend.
Do let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.
Thanks
Is it possible to implement a 3 hierarchy system? An example would be Section, Category, Article?
Hey there,
It’s not a default feature of the theme. It may be possible with customizations but it would depend entirely on your specifications.
Thanks
Looking at this theme for our company knowledge base, but we want to also house documents (PDF’s, Word Docs, etc.). I know we can upload documents into the Media section, but does this theme have a way to easily navigate and download documents?
Thank you!
Hey there,
The theme doesn’t have any documentation management, it’s a knowledge base only.
Thanks
Thanks, Chris. One other question—Are articles searchable by tags?
The default WordPress search engine doesn’t take tags into account, but you can use plugins such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/relevanssi/ to achieve this.
Thanks
Hi Chris,
I’m using the latest version of your theme and is great, good job! I do have however a strange issue when I upload a logo… it shows fine but there is a warning above it with the folowing message:
Warning: getimagesize(https://MYSITE/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/logo.png): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden in /homez.XXX/MYSITE/www/kb/wp-content/themes/knowhow/framework/styles.php on line 60
Please, could you help me?
Thanks
Hey there,
Some servers don’t allow this function so the easiest way to solve this would be to remove/comment out line 58 to 62 in knowhow/framework/styles.php
For any further issues support is provided via http://herothemes.com/support/ please submit a support request there and we’ll help you as best we can.
Thanks
Thanks for your fast reply, problem solved!!
Great work
Is there any option that I can buy it without wordpress ? I mean only the static files.
Hey there,
This is a WordPress theme only and it can only be purchased as a package for WordPress.
Thanks
