Another quick question!
I love your nectar slider and I really wanted to use it to showcase my nature photography, and while all of the horizontal images load beautifully… the vertical images are blown up and look terrible… is there any way around this?
I would really like the images to function like my old template did: http://cantedpictures.com/nature/As you can see there, the first image is vertical and completely shown without being blown up. Is this possible for the nectar slider?

1. WordPres automatically appends the version number of assets to the files i.e. the ?v=3.2.1 – if you want to remove them please see this http://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-remove-query-strings-from-static-resources
2. Unfortunately it’s not that type of slider as the images are set as backgrounds hence the zooming when using very different aspect ratios. For slides that need a portrait image I would just insert an image tag into the caption field directly:<img src="your-image-source.png" />

Hmmm ok. But theres like 50-60 px on top and bottom and the image goes smaller when enlarging. Whould have been sweet with a scroller.
It also depends on the screen size viewed – on my desktop monitor it enlarges to much bigger since there’s more available space

Hey, I’m trying to login support page but it doesn’t work!!!!
My issue:
The Portfolio home page, in Masonry mode, has a problem which the thumbnail images are not automatically generated… that’s a suck.
If I choose manually the image, we have another problem: if you add a new project all the old images thumbs have to be uploaded again, because they don’t crop… they follow the original size.
In short: The automatic thumb generator is not working, definately.

Ticksy was down for a few hours yesterday, my apologies – the automatic cropping of your featured images would only work if the images were uploaded after activated Salient since the theme has custom image sizes. If you have images you’re using that were on your server prior to activating the theme, just use this to regenerate all the sizes: http://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

Even uploading them after the theme activation we still have this problem. I mean, we’ve tried the both ways. The images were really uploaded after activated Salient.
It only works if we upload them manually. Project by project…
Then, using this plugin doesn’t make much sense considering the fact we are trying to create a new portfolio item.
Could you help us somehow?

I’m a bit confused as to what you’re saying now – you mentioned it it works if you set a featured image project by project which is the normal way to create portfolio items. How are you trying to do it all at once? And what plugin are you referring to?

Featured Image: It works, but only manually. What we wish: Upload a project and then the template generate for itself a thumb based on the images we have choosen. Is that possible?
About the plugin: The one you suggested us “Regenerate Thumbnails”.
In short, as far as I understood we ALWAYS have to set the thumb manually, right? So that when we need to update with a new portfolio item we should use de “Regenerate Thumbnails” soon afterward, right? Assuming that Masonry Mode is set to different thumb sizes.

Hey again – no, you only have to use regenerate thumbnails one time and only if you had images on your server prior to activating Salient. Using the plugin will simply allow those images to be cut at the correct sizes. And you do have to set a featured image for each project, that’s the only way to display the image in the proper size.

Hello, Just wanted your advice on something. I want to create an online web application that will have large databases from saving users information. Do you think it will be wise to use your theme for design, and then stick in a web application onto it where users can logon? How difficult will it be to integrate an application with Wordpress and your theme?
If you think it would be good to do so, what coding language should i use, would it be php and mysql? If you dont think this is a good idea, what other option should i go towards. Thank you!

I don’t see how it would be a different process in terms of the theme you use – you’re going to essentially have to essentially do the same thing regardless of the theme you use since it’s going to be all custom development – for the language, since you’re already in WP you might as well use php/mysql for streamlining

The sharing icons within the salient them (facebook, twitter, and pinterest) have count numbers that keep resetting.
Numbers are resetting on pages and blog posts that we haven’t changed so we can’t tell if new pushes to the website are causing this or what’s happening.

Hey Marc,
the share count is not kept on the site – each page load they are pulled based on the URL from each respective service. Therefore the only reason for a reset would be if you changed the URLs/Domain

Hi Nectar. Regarding the transparent Page Header, it would be nice to be able to add a png image when selecting a colored background. This would also us to use solid colors, but add different patterns, like noise, etc. Also, it sounds like your adding the ability to add an overlay to images. Hoping we can upload the overlay image or pattern. Regards.
Sorry, a few more requests. On the transparent Page Header, it would be nice if we could select an Opacity and/or Pattern on the background image. On the Portfolio page header, would also be nice to have a sub-title. Thanks!!

Hi Nectar. I have created child pages under a parent page and I would like to have the parent menu item to be active (bold) when displaying the child pages. Right now, I’m not using a drop down. The child pages are accessed from various other pages. Is there a way I can make the menu item active? This is really critical from a UX perspective. My second questions is that I assume this works correctly for Portfolio items, correct? Thanks as always.

1. That’s how WordPress handles active classes by default so that would require the use of a plugin or custom development.
2. Yes, assuming your portfolio was named “portfolio” in your menu – if not, open up the init.js file and alter this: //portfolio more details page menu highlight

Hey Manish, the video BG available in the Nectar Slider is not meant to be used that way – it’s supposed to be a design element so controls were intended. However, if you want controls you could either use a video lightbox through a button in the slider as mentioned here http://youtu.be/FLU9Pxo_RD8?t=7m20s or simply don’t use the Nectar Slider and place a video embed into a row set to full width content to allow it to span the entire width of the screen
