Hi Chris !

I started using this last week and i have set up 4 categories and need to show at least 5 post per category. I have also upped the number of post showing at one page to 20. But it does not seem to help. Number of post showing per category is set to 5 but only shows 2 or 3 although the total number is 5 or 10. I tried making 5 posts sticky as well but no luck. What am I doing wrong?

Hello I need to add a support area for my web page but I can’t decide which one to chose the know how theme or the support theme. I need basically 3 categories FAQ, video tutorials, articles and that’s all. Which you recommended me ? Thanks !!!

Show Category Counts?

This Option is not working! It always shows Category Counts

Does this Knowledgebase have Article Relevance (“was this article article relevant radio button”) and stars like most of the knowledge bases out there? Any plans to develop that?

Hi there,

The theme doesn’t unfortunately. Sorry about that.

Thanks

Hi! presale question.

1. Can i have the FAQ Accordion inside any “post” via shortcode? i need to have multiple FAQ inside multiple kb posts.

2. Is this compatible with Polylang for multilingual support?

3. Can i have different KB?

Thank you

Hi there,

You can only have one knowledge base, but you could setup multiple categories/subcategories to split your content up.

Thanks

Thank you Chris, can see on the demo i can have a list of the categories on the sidebar as a widget. I would like to show the topics of the category im in also. For example if i choose Category 1 OR a topic in the Category 1, i would like to see all the topics in this category as a list on the sidebar. Is this possible?

Also can i protect some content with any role plugin out there? (ex. have one category that only registered users can see)

I ask because i dont know if the topics are created as posts? are they custom post types?

Best Regards

Hi there,

1. You would need to use a widget that could display posts by category. Our plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/heroic-posts-widget/ should have you covered there :)

2. The knowledge base in this theme uses the standard posts. So you should be able to use a role plugin such as http://wordpress.org/plugins/members/ to lock categories

Thanks

Just purchase your theme and extract files to my desktop, I am confused. there is 2 themes..

What is "ChildTheme"?

- Your theme is very lightweight which is really impressive. ;)

I just read about ChildThemes on wordpress website.

Hi there,

Glad you found the information you needed. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks

Can i play with the orders of the articles i put in a category ?

Hey there,

You can use a plugin such as: http://wordpress.org/plugins/my-posts-order/ for this.

Thanks

I would like to globally place the sidebar on the left instead of the right side. I read that there is a way to do this in Theme Options but there is only a setting for the home page. Is there a way to do this globally without modifying the theme or creating a child theme?

Can this be easily modified to be used for Internal (Login Required) and External (Client) Knowledge Bases?

Hey there,

You would need to use a plugin to lock categories to registered users only. Check out wordpress.org as there might be a plugin out there to help you.

Thanks

Hi Chris, this is a great looking theme! I have one question, I was previously using a wp theme called “Support Press”, and like this one a lot more. I’ve purchased your theme and have it all installed. I’ve exported my old wp database (into the importable xml) however it fails to import in the fresh wordpress install. I think it has to do with custom taxonimy of the support press posts. I realize this is outside the support you would probably render, but if you had any pointers how I can get my articles out of my old support press site, and into this new site, that would be incredible! Thanks for your work!

Hi Cris, feel free to disregard, got it figured out. Had to dust off my xml foo, but was able to change all the custom taxonomies to normal category and post types. Imported no problem and look great in your theme! Thanks!

Hey there,

Glad you got it sorted. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks

Hello,

I installed the theme and it seems to be working fine. However, I am confused as to the difference in how this theme uses “FAQs” and “Articles”. It seems that when I create new Articles, I can categorize and tag them and they show up as expected on the home page. Great! Then what are the FAQ items for?

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian,

The FAQs are to construct a page like this: http://demo.herothemes.com/knowhow/faq/

Thanks

I apparently am not quite getting how to do this. Is there a document somewhere that tells you how to setup FAQ’s like the one you link to above? I checked the knowhow directory that I downloaded and didn’t find any documentation.

I can’t access theme option. When I clicked theme option button, then only General options, homepage options, styling options tool bar and restore defaults, save options buttons only exposed. How should i do?

Hi,

I am having small issue with your theme. No matter what kind of wp-built-in permissions I choose for users – they can edit and delete all articles made by theme articles system- even those made by other users. How can I fix this?

great theme by the way

Hi Chris,

Very nice theme, simple, great work.

Its compatible with Disqus Comments plugin? has a full panel options to customize the colors, background?

Cheers

Hello,

I added a “Text” widget to my sidebar. I’ve added a unordered list but I’m unable to get the bullets or (even better) the article icon. This is what I used for the <ul />and <li />:
<ul class="clearfix"> <li class="clearfix format-standard"> </li></ul>

Do I need to add something else or use another widget?

Thanks.

Hi Chris, My company wants me to come up with an inexpensive way to create a knowledge base, and relatively quickly. I’ve blogged personally with WP.com for years and did a little website management with the WP.org admin interface, so I googled WP and knowledge bases and found KnowHow. Looks ideal, but I have questions, since I apparently don’t fully understand themes (more than just a formatting template—news to me). Here they are:

1) We use Cascade Server in house as the CMS for our bug tracking in Team Foundation Server. It would be great if I could leverage that, and Cascade Server claims to work with WordPress via a “connector” for WP and Twitter. Would KnowHow work with Cascade, or would such a CMS be redundant here?

2. To use KnowHow, would I need anything besides an Apache server and a WP.org account?

3. Alternatively, could I make a demo of KnowHow using a free WP.com account?

4. Your main page here says that setting up a KB with KnowHow takes “less time than it takes to brew a coffee”. I can brew a cuppa pretty quick, but otherwise I’m not very smart. What are my chances of getting a KnowHow demo up and running in a couple days?

Thanks!

Hi there,

1. This is out of the scope for the advice I can give. However I can answer any questions relating to the theme.

2. KnowHow requires a self hosted WordPress installation. If you’ve got WP setup, then any theme will work.

3. Premium themes only work with self hosted WordPress installs as WP.com is a closed system.

4. The theme is fully documented so you should have any issue in configuring the theme itself. If you do there’s support and help for setting it up.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response!

what is the difference between “support desk” and “help desk”?

we need one of them to build out our procedures manual, and as a FAQ resource for employees

Hi there,

Do you mean Support Desk & KnowHow?

Thanks

Hi. Pre-Sales Qtn.

I’m looking for a template for a Logistics Company, where a client can track the progress of a parcel. Any tips/comments ?

Hey there,

This theme doesn’t fit your needs.

Thanks

in shortcodes.php

remove_filter(‘the_content’, ‘wpautop’); and the call in wptexturize(wpautop($piece)); on line 237 is creating

tags in mediaelementjs – showing duplicate players.

Another issue is using the field to put a video URL does not work but putting the shortcode [video src=] works .. not sure but figured id let you know

Hi there,

Thanks for letting us know about this, I’ve made a note of it on our bug tracker for us to investigate soon.

All the best
