I have purchased the ‘Regular License’ for my own personal use, a music blog. Your product is fantastic.
However, I work for a company that develops websites for small businesses. We are currently using proprietary software that in my opinion is terrible. I would like the firm to use your product on a large scale. After reading your entire FAQ, Marketplace Terms, and Extended License documents I couldn’t determine if this is acceptable.
Ultimately, I would like to ask [1] Is it possible for my firm to purchase your product, extended license or regular, to create and sell websites for small businesses. [2] If so what information is important to know and [3] Is there any legal issues I should be aware of?

I’d be happy to explain the license process.
The best way to think of the regular license is that it can be used for a single use/project/domain. The extended license does not allow unlimited use, however you would be welcome to purchase a unique regular license for each client’s site in which you were wanting to use X. We work with several agencies and groups that do this and would love to work with you all in this capacity. Where on earth is the control buttons for the shop, says in the description that you can change the theme into a shop with a click of the button!!! – cannot find anything relating to the shop in the theme settings, really annoying

I have a small problem. I was brought on by a client to do development work. The old developer can’t be contacted that purchased the theme. Therefore, I don’t have the username or purchase code to put in a support ticket. The client has messed up the homepage shortcode and neither them or I have the theme documentation. Is there anyway you can email it to me and also allow me to access support for this?

Greetings from Australia. – Pre Sales Questions, You have provided so much excellent information it’s hard not to become quickly confused, when trying to make an expedient buying decision.
I think your X Theme from what I’ve seen in the Demos prior to purchase is just simple Stunning. I wish you every success, your team has obviously worked very hard with superb results to show the world. I’m glad I found X The Theme, If I can’t use it for this project I certainly can use it for others! Well done.
Question 1) My Client likes the look of ETHOS, and the Shop from ICON Can they both be used together, or does each shop style need to stay with each version of X the theme as shown in the demos?
Question 2) My Client has a massive Inventory of products as well as more than 100 product categories. In your 4 shop demo styles for Woo, I see nothing anywhere resembling the potential for a mega menu to accommodate and organize a quantity of categories. Please enlighten me about this, I may have missed understood from your Sales presentation.
Question 3) Can the shop part be used as a catalog with no prices initially and be converted to a have Add to cart buttons and price later?
Question 4) The Project I have in mind for this theme, My Client needs to have Twin sites in different directories on his domain. Retail Site in the Root directory and Catalog Wholesale Site in a separate directory on the same domain. As I would be buying the license on behalf of my client for this one project, would I need to buy 2 x licenses, or 1 x License under this circumstance.
Question 5) Multiple product upload via CSV file, is this possible with your X theme and Woo commerce ? I do not like the thought of entering thousands of products one by one from an existing product database.
Question 6) Can I use other Woo Plugins with your X theme; example the Australia Post Woo Plugin for live shipping quotes. and Woo Sensi Plugin, to sell educational courses, and the New Woo Bookings Plugin to take contractor bookings and appointments ?
Question 7) My Client also needs to have the function of Live Chat, instant messaging is there a known compatible plug in for your X theme to include this function.
These necessities as mentioned above inclusive of plugins for functionality are necessary for my Clients project.

Thank-you for the kind words!
1) The Stacks can not be used interchangeably as they are unique designs, so if Ethos is activated, the Ethos design will be the one used for the Shop.
2) We have a MegaMenu functionality you can see on all of the 01 Demos for each Stack (hover over the “Shortcode” menu item for each). This same feature can be activated on a Shop as well.
3) You would be free to customize the Shop as needed post-purchase if this were a desirable result. Keep in mind that our support does not cover customizations, however customers are free to do whatever is needed functionality wise once purchased either with their own customizations or through hiring a developer to assist.
4) 1 license should be sufficient based on that setup (since it is the same domain). If you had 3 different domains that you wanted to use X on for example, then you would simply purchase 3 regular licenses.
5) This would be more of a WooCommerce question as we simply provide an integrated design (in our case multiple designs – one for each Stack) for all parts of WooCommerce. You can read more about the features of WoooCommerce here.
6) Customers are welcome to add any 3rd party plugins they would like, however we are unable to provide supports to 3rd party plugin extensions.
7) Not that I know of, but there are many 3rd party options in this space (same support policies apply).

Looks like a great theme
For my website though, i like to use a theme with a built in event feature. As i run events weekly, monthly etc…
Do you have a feature like this on your theme? Or is there an addon i can get that will work well with your theme?
Also i would like to upload some music to my website. But would like my visitors to be able to rate the songs, maybe with a 5 star rating. Is this something that can happen?

Can I have a holding page that everyone goes to when visiting my website. with say 4 images/links on that page Which when clicked on, will take the visitor to each different part of my business. Basically 4 different website within one main site. Each website looking slightly different (with colours, etc…)

We do not have a list like that but any well developed plugin should play nicely as X was created to development best practices. While we cannot provide support for solutions not integrated into the theme in some way, customers are welcome (and often do) extend the functionality of their sites with reputable 3rd party solutions.
Regarding your other question, yes you can do that. A multisite install would be best so you can manage the different installs of WordPress in one place.

I came across your Ethos 1 theme today and thought it was the best one I have ever seen! I want to purchase it but I had a few questions.
I know that the theme is described as more of a magazine or news style theme, but is it possible to run it as a static site from the homepage? On my header, I mainly want the about me, blog, products, resources, and I was looking to do a static page similar to this one: http://sweetpotatosoul.com/ which when one scrolls down they are able to see- join the emailing list (I may need to buy a plugin for that) – as seen on…........ (that is a simple text widget though I think) -
Before any blog posts are shown, I would like to put 7 hexagon shaped photos that when someone clicks on one of the shapes they are lead to a static page. I want to make this the main focus of my site because it is all about those 7 shapes which will represent week 1, week, 2 and so forth. Does the Ethos web builder give me the flexibility to do this?
When a person is directed to the page, I want to have a video, content, links to other sites, and other resources on that one page.
Also, is there an option to change the color of the header/footer? Is there room for a logo? Will it be possible to include other plugins?
I would appreciate your assistance, as I am very interested in buying this ASAP. I am making a decision by Thursday. (sorry for all the questions lol)

Many of these questions have more to do with customizations which are definitely possible given your own expertise or hiring a developer post-purchase.
The best way to learn what is possible out of the box is to check out all of the features including this video of our Customizer in action.
Also, Ethos is a Stack (completely unique design). I would suggest reading up more on Stacks and the unique Ethos features.
There is an option to change the header/footer color and there is certainly room for a logo.
X was developed to best practices so well-developed 3rd party plugins should work well with X however due to the near limitless nature of things that can come up when using 3rd party solutions, we cannot provide support for plugins not integrated into the theme in some way (Gravity Forms, Revolution Slider, etc).
Hi there! I’m setting up my website using the Ethos stack of X, and I downloaded the recommended slider plugin, but I’d like to have the slider just feature the most recent posts and I can’t figure out how to set it that way given the built-in options. I also don’t understand what the “featured post IDs” option refers to. Please help!

Also can i add a phone number in the header and make work on phones so that when you click it on it it call you. i would like the email to do the same.

There is not an automatic update feature for the theme currently. There is for our Shortcode plugin (and we are working on an automatic update feature for a future release).
Certain browsers turn phone numbers into clickable links and for others that don’t there is some markup you can add to a number that will do this (same for emails).
Regarding Maps, we have a shortcode that you can read about here. If you need any sort of expanded functionality beyond that, you could simply customized as needed.

I would suggest me you integrate the automatic update through WordPress as Its easy to update with wpremote which I use for all my sites I have about 40 and looking for new theme for all 40 so for me this one feature I must have so seeing you don’t have this is a big disappointed. Your the first theme that I have come across that does not have this I would suggest this to be added to the next update. I think this the only thing missing and for the price I would have thought it would be automatic update through WordPress. Can I ask you to add this asap. Ones you do let me know so that I can buy this theme. Thansk

Thank you for the suggestion. We are familiar with WPRemote and have investigated multiple other options as well. Many themes do not have automatic updates due to the number of moving parts to automatically updating a theme, however as shared above it is a priority for us to add in a future release.

Hi, there—On the fence. One thing that we need is the ability for a Lightbox style image enlargement on the portfolio, instead of each item being linked to it’s own page (with a text link, or the link icon, as the demo’s vary). Is it possible to have magnifying glass icon pop up on hover and clicking, the photo pops up with a Lightbox?

First thank you for any help you can give me. Like others I am new to WordPress and website building. I have been very lucky to get some great help on a direction to head. Your X theme was recommended to me and I have dam near fell in love with it. I have a couple of questions that I could not find answers for in the comments section. I own a catering & events business and have been looking for a STRONG, CLEAN, CLASSY website theme, your Ethos fist that but I appears to be for magazines and blogs only, could I use it for a regular website do display our food and services? Could the carousel on top be used as links to other pages or do they have to be directed to articles or blogs? Also I need a very strong contact page, I would like for our new and existing clients to be able to start an initial design for their events is that possible with in the template or would I need to use a plugin module and are most WordPress plugins compatible with the X theme?

The Ethos Stack is definitely geared for blog/magazine sites, however it can certainly be used for other purposes. The carousel feature is for linking out to certain featured posts. A contact page can easily be added just keep in mind that is not a theme feature per say. We do provide integrated styling support for Gravity Forms and Contact Form 7 so your contact forms will look great! Regarding new and existing clients being able to start a design for their events, that would not be a theme feature and would require custom code or using a 3rd party solution (outside the scope of what we provide support for). X was developed to best practices, so well developed 3rd party solutions should play nicely with X, however due to the nature of development, we can’t provide support for things that were not created by us or integrated into the theme in some way (Revolution Slider, Gravity Forms, etc).

The carousel slider on Ethos is unique to the Ethos Stack and can only be used to link out to featured posts. You can read more about the unique features to the Ethos Stack here.
We have integrated several plugins into X (Revolution Slider, Gravity Forms to name a few). You can see a full list on our listing page.
We do not have a list of guaranteed to work plugins, however since X was developed to best practices it should work with well developed plugins.
We are not providing development services at this time, however it is something we are looking into should there be enough demand from our customers.

I had asked a question on here before, and had posted something in the forum last week with still no answer, so I’m going to try this again:
I can’t seem to change the background color of the Ethos theme on my website. It’s just the standard white every time. See screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/WNYAVDx.jpg
I go into the customizer, click on ethos, then I clearly see where it states ‘Background Color’. I change it to a color I want but it still remains white.
