Is it possible to do 2 menus using X Theme? I love the idea of a ‘single page’ layout where the menu tabs slide to the content but I want to do this not for my home page but for my product page.
I would still like a way for the customer to navigate off that page using the main menu.

Sure, there would be a couple options. The easiest out of the box would be using our Promo Shortcode (that links shows what the Promo Shortcoe looks like when using our Integrity Stack). Keep in mind that one of the unique features to X is the Stacks we have built in that allow for completely unique designs without having to change themes. If you’d like to see what the Promo Shortcode looks like when using the Renew Stack you can see that here, the Icon Stack here, and the Ethos Stack here. The images can be set to be clickable with a link.
The same applies for all Shortcodes in X. They are styled uniquely based on which Stack you are using.
Another option would be to create graphics that are placed in a 1/4 column that have links associated with them to the page of your choice.

hello! i’m just building my 1st site with x, and so far its pretty impressive.
I’m making a ticket site, and I decided to add the tickets ( or event ) as a Portfolio item. trouble is once you select a Portfolio item, you can really go back, is there a way to maintain the menu ( sub menu – not main nav ) when you click on a Portfolio item. So effectively you have a widget custom menu, on a portfolio item? thanks for the help in advacne. chris

There is a Protected Content Shortcode (that link is to one of our Integrity demos however the Shortcode works across all Stacks).
If they are looking for a more end-to-end solution a custom plugin or 3rd party solution would be best for something like that as the solution above is for password protecting certain content on your site in a simply way.

The client wants to create a protected area on the website for journalists only, on which they have to be able to download pictures, zipped files, .pdf’s and such. Is there any plugin that you would be able to recommend that works well with X in this matter?

There is not a plugin that immediately comes to mind, however customers are welcome to extend the functionality of their X-powered sites post purchase with whatever solutions they deem appropriate. While we cannot provide support for these modifications of 3rd party solutions, it is a very common practice to include something like this to achieve the desired functionality.

There are unique features to each Stack, so be sure to check them all out here.
Renew is the only Stack that allows the header and footer background colors to be changed. You can certainly set a background color, image, or pattern no matter the Stack.

So every site ever made with “Integrity” stack is either black or white? There’s no way to change the colors other than the background behind boxed in pages?
My mistake, you can check out the Stack features here.
No, you can certainly change the background color or a page and you can also change any element via CSS, however since each Stack has its own unique features, there are certain features that are unique to each Stack.
For example, on Integrity you have the option of adding transparency to the header/navbar (that is unique to Integrity). On Renew, you can set custom colors for the backgorund of the header/navbar, footer, etc. That link above shows the unique features to each Stack.

I’m weighing the differences between X Theme and Genesis (plus a child theme). Most of my colleagues use Genesis, but I’m actually leaning towards X.
So … I’m hoping this isn’t putting you too much on the spot, but can you give me the top five reasons why you think X is a better choice than Genesis?

I’m not quite following the question as X is a WordPress theme and as such it can only be used in conjunction with WordPress. It obviously outputs HTML when you are viewing the source, however it is not an HTML template but a WordPress theme.

Hi! I’m really close purchasing this theme (with Ethos) to replace an old unsupported theme at my site www.mkse.com. However, the mkse.com site has grown during the years and contains over 4000 articles with several categories, images etc. Any advice on a smooth migration, and preparation before I start? Please help me decide on this theme and get started by a quick visit to my site and the current article layout. I’d be nice to hear you don’t see that many obstacles

Transitioning to X would be no different than transitioning to any other premium theme. There are definitely things to take into consideration when changing themes, however this is not a theme question as much as it is dependent upon how your content is configured on the current site.

The only place that I see a demo of the visual composer in the X theme is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZjPV_l8RBg
The one shown at http://vc.wpbakery.com/ looks more graphical and shows you what you’re doing in real-time, where as the one in the X theme review video above does not. Is the one in the youtube video out of date or something?

We have a customized version of Visual Composer integrated into X (to use with our own Shortcodes).
The video you mentioned was made a while ago and does not necessarily reflect the latest version in X. Since we have highly customized our integration with VC to work with our Shortcodes we do not include all standard VC options nor all updates/releases unless they are security related. There is more detail on our listing about the purpose of the VC integration into X, so be sure to check that out.

So now that I’ve purchased the theme, I’m seeing that ‘WPBakery Visual Composer’ needs an update from Version 4.1.3—> 4.3.2. Is this OK to update or will X no longer work right with the new version? thanks

The filter is only for the portfolio, however you can have multiple portfolios, so you could filter anything that is using the portfolio functionality.

Thanks. If I would like a filter for a company’s STAFF page so that it works like the portfolio filter, will most programmers be able to help me customize one using your theme? I like everything about Ethos, the only missing piece is the Filter for the company staff page. It is a large company with many employees and I need a filter to sort by departments such as accounting, marketing, IT etc etc.

Yes, a portfolio can be used for any number of things (such as you described). If filtering content is necessary, the portfolio is the place to do that
And yes, any developer familiar with PHP and CSS (and of course WordPress) will be able to assist with modifications. The code is clean and well organized.

1) Is it true that I can purchase the license, test it out on www.domain1.com (live but no contents right now) and when I feel comfortable with all the features etc, I then officially use the license for my active site, for example www.domain2.com ? I will not have to purchase 2 licenses for this as long as in the end I only use your theme on 1 domain? Just want to be sure.
2) Also, do I have the option to have tile layout for Ethos’ home page? I really like the header above the menu on Ethos home page, but prefer the rest of the page to be tiled rather than linear.

Great. My active domain has a lot of existing pages, so i am nervous I will corrupt or mess up all the existing pages on my active domain while testing your theme. Therefore I want to test your theme on another domain that has no contents right now, and when I feel comfortable using all the features of your theme, then I use your theme officially on my active domain. Yes, the theme will be used on 1 domain only at any given time. Glad i do not need to purchase 2 licenses for that.
As for my 2nd question. In Ethos main demo, the area BELOW the slider where you have all the blog posts showing up vertically one on top of the other, I wonder instead of having the blog posts vertically aligned one on top of the other, can I have the blog posts appear in a grid like side by side .
Just to clarify my 2nd question, for example, right now you have the blog post “MENS FASHION 101” aligned vertically underneath the blog post “POST A COMPELLING QUESTION HERE”, I wonder if I have the option to have these two blog posts appear side by side rather than vertically .

There is a standard and masonry option available for both the blog and portfolio. You can see how the masonry blog looks on this Integrity demo (you can use the masonry option for all Stacks), so that would be another option for you.
