Hi. Let me first say I am VERY IMPRESSED with your theme and pretty sure I will be purchasing asap. I have one concern and question first.

What attracts me to your theme is the many possibilities of different looks and options in one theme. I am a total newbie at wordpress and my question is: If I would like your theme to work as different looking themes on subdomains, do I have to do separate installs on each subdomains or would I have to install Wordpress Multisite? Multisite seems even more complicated and I may not be able to get that right away.

Just to explain to you my concept in short. I am creating an “Umbrella” Artist website, so I would like to have separate domains or subdomains for each kind of artist, ex. Hairstylist, Barber, Nails, Photographer, Design, etc. And because the Hair industry is my main target and it is so broad, I may even want to split them up into different cities or areas.

So this will all be “my website” but with categories so to speak. I realize that I can do one big site and just have tabs of different pages, but again I like your theme because then I can have different themed looks for certain categories. Like I may want to build a buddypress community as well, and then have other domains or subdomains to have a totally different look. But no matter how I do it, there will be one main Artist website of course that will link to the other categories. What do you suggest?

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Once again Themeco. I wanted to clarify something as I may have not explained it right judging from your response. I have no problem paying for a unique license if I infact need one, but I was under the impression that an extended license was more for if I was trying to provide each client with a whole website to themselves using your template. In which that may be a thought in the future. But for right now I am just trying to provide them with pages “AT MY WEBSITE”.

When I see all these themes including yours, that offer Membership features, Community based options with free or paid options incorporated that allows your client to pay for access to certain pages, again I was under the impression that this is something that we are allowed to use without further monies being spent. My only reason for asking should I put them on different SUBdomains is the ability to switch up the theme and be able to use the different looks of your theme.

I guess I’m extra confused on what the point is of buying a theme that offers so many different themes if I have to pay an extended license to be able to use more than one if I can only use one at a time on my domain. I mean when you think about it, how often to someone really change the theme of their site? I’m trying to also understand why would I purchase a community featured theme if I have to pay more to use it? I can understand if I was putting it on completely different domains, but like I said I am new to Wordpress. How I plan on using my subdomains or tabs will be really ALL FOR ONE TOTAL SITE and mine, I just want to be able to have sections that will split up categories if that makes since. Basically I want to be able to use your community base but also with some of the other features your theme has to offer, so that all my members pages won’t have to look the same. And I just wanted to know if that is even possible, before I buy it, even if I end up having to hire a developer to do it.

You also stated that this will work fine with Multisite which makes me wonder if you fully read or understood my question. Smiles. I am already aware that it works well this way, but since I am a newbie once again, I was asking do I really have to use mutisite for what I am trying to do in your opinion. I was ready some articles where it states that most times people do not have to use multisite for most of the things they are trying to do. Sorry if I am confusing you, cause I am confused to. lol.

Thanks once again for all your help.

Sorry a few typos, I meant I was “reading” some articles. And also, when I spoke about the way I plan on using the theme, I meant by switching up the “Looks” for different parts or categories of my website ( Hairstylist, Barbers, MUA, Fashion Stylist, Photographers, etc) as well as the member pages of my Community Based Website. This is all ONE WEBSITE and my website in which members will have pages at. Again, I only asked about subdomains wondering if I would have to install your theme to subdomains in order to be able to utilize different looks of your theme.

Also, I see that you tell everyone that ask here that you can not provide insight on customizations as it is up to the user. I am not asking you to tell me how to do it, just to tell if it is possible before I buy. And if I have to purchase a extended license in order to do this, with all do respect, it really doesn’t seem fair according to to the benefits that the theme offer as a “All In One’ Theme. If thats the case I might as well buy a bunch of different themes from different people and really get all the different looks I want on my website. lol.

Also, on a side note, I consider Domains and Subdomains different in the way that I use them. Subdomains is a section of my website, does not belong to the client.

I think you are confused on what we are offering in a theme and what the terms of the license are. Here is the bottom line.

1) If you use X on say 3 sites you will need 3 regular licenses.

2) Multisite is a term in WordPress that has to do with running a network of sites powered by one WordPress installation.

3) If all of this is going on one site, one license should be sufficient. What you cant do is resell or share parts of the functionality of the theme with your clients (as in having them use the theme to run their own mini site on your site).

4) There are no additional costs to use the theme…the only additional costs we explained before were for additional licenses. Obviously if there are certain premium plugins and features you want to integrate (not created by us but by 3rd parties) you can do that and some of those are premium but from our point of view, we only charge for the single use of the license.

I would suggest hiring a developer or person who is familiar with how this process works as it seems there is a great deal of confusion on what you are getting from us. At the end of the day, the easiest way to think about it is that you need a unique regular license for each site in which you are using X.

Hello, I need some help. How i can change the logo off my website? How i can made a site exactly equal the Renew 6 (demo)? Have a conf file to import?

Thank you!

All support is provided in our member forum. Please be sure to read through our Knowledge Base and search the forum first, then if you need any additional help, one of our developers can assist you further there. Hi ThemeCo,

Sorry to bother you but regarding the endless styling possibilities I would like to ask a few more things before purchase:

1. Is the option of showing an image gallery in masonry mode available?
2. Is it possible to choose between several types of arrow for submenus? (e.g. simple arrows or arrows left / right if I’m showing vertical menus)
3. May I change the font type & size in submenus? All demos have the same submenu fonts.
4. I noticed that when I quickly move the mouse over several links with tooltips (e.g. http://theme.co/x/demo/renew/1/ , in “LEARN MORE” page section) they remain on the screen and do not disappear within a few seconds. Is that correct or it’s a bug that should be fixed with separate counters for each tooltip?
5. Can I use popover shortcode for team photos to show some extended info?
6. It is possible to switch between squared, rounded or circled images for team?

Thank you in advance for your warm support.

Hi There,

1) There is an image gallery post format in WordPress, and you can select a masonry layout for your blog, so you can show a image gallery post in masonry, yes. You can see an example here on the Black & White post. That is a gallery post and allows you to scroll through the photos in the gallery on the index.

2) No. Each Stack has its own style for submenus and you can see them in the demos.

3) Not without custom CSS as there is not a type option for submenu font in the Customizer (too granular).

4) Just checked there and they are working as they should.

5) No. Popovers are for text only.

6) We provide several image formatting options that you can more read about here.

Cheers!

Is there a Money back guarantee policy?

I had already purchased Gravity Forms plugin. Will my forms created before works inside X Theme?

If in the future I decided to change my theme, will I be able to purchase just the short codes as a plugin to be used with any other Theme?

Regards,

Paulo Tebet

Hi Paulo,

Envato is the one who handles guarantees as they are the ones you are purchasing from. You can read more about their policies for that here.

We do provide styling integration for Gravity Forms.

The Shortcodes are included as a separate plugin, however they are meant to only work with the X theme.

Cheers!

Hi there, I really loved what I’ve seen so far about you theme. I have an specific need in mind that I would like to check if can be done with your theme before I buy it.

I have a multi genre photography busisess with wedding, family portrait, pregnancy, corporate, and photography areas.

I would like to have a home page wich comunicates all genres that I provide (originally thought about having a slider on the top, with maybe some text linked to the Mini site Landing page for each of the category.

From what I’ve studied so far, from each landing page I should not have any navigation or related posts or recent posts from any other category, just the Mini Site category (Wedding for example), and a link back to the main site (home page). This concept being covered as “How to build Silo sites” for easy of use and SEO purposes.

Right now I am using Network Empire “NE Silo Builder” plugin to create all the category, pages and post and all the interlink necessary to create the Silo structure. They say that their plugin can be used with any WordPress Theme. Have you guys have any feedback of using NE Silo Builder with X theme?

Or do I really need the NE Silo Builder, or does X already provides me that Silo functionality?

I would like to give each Silo (mini site) landing page a unique look, so every minisite (Wedding, Portrait, Maternity, etc..) will have their unique look.

My ultimate goal would be having some common characteristics for the whole site, while maintaining some uniqueness for each mini site.

I was thinking of using Visual Composer to accomplish this, but I realize that VC is built in right into X theme. So ultimately I believe that just using the VC and NE Silo Builder I would be able to create what I am lokking for, but since you guys already have done all the heavy lifting of creating all the possible stacks, I would like to see if I can leverage all this work and get what I am looking for in speedy manner.

Regards,

Paulo Tebet Photography

Hi There,

Just a point of clarification that anything is possible with the right customizations, however functionality you see in our demos is how things work out of the box. Anything beyond that would require customization either with 3rd party plugins, hiring a developer, or your own custom code.

Also, VC is not built into the theme but rather a separate (custom tailored plugin) we provide to our members. Our policy related to 3rd party plugins in general is that unless they are integrated into the theme in some way (Revolution Slider, Gravity Forms, etc) then we do not provide support for them. The implementation, customization, and troubleshooting of any issues that may arise are the customers responsibility. Technically speaking, since X was developed according to development best practices, any well developed 3rd party plugin should play nicely with X, however due to the virtually limitless nature of things that can and often times do go wrong with software, we can not provide support something that we have not first developed or integrated into the theme. Same would apply to NE Silo Builder, and I’m not personally familiar with anyone using that tool or comments related to it in conjunction with X.

If you have any further questions on specific features in X, feel free to let us know. Be sure to check out our features overview pages as well.

Cheers!

Hi guys ! I have a simple pre-buy question :

Is it possible to use two different navigation bars on the same website. For some pages I would need it to be vertical, and for other ones, horizontal. Or is it possible to create “sticky sidebars”, as we can see them on certain “style selector” ?

Naturally, Q

Hi There,

We provide several blank templates, however the navigation is set in the Customizer and is site wide.

When using the Icon Stack, the sidebar is independent and always fixed as you can see here, so that would be an option. You also have the option to have custom sidebars for each page.

Cheers!

Hi – I have been looking at this template for several weeks now, and the reason that I have not bought it is your flaky (no offence meant) replies to questions about Visual Composer. In one reply you make reference to a link here http://theme.co/x/member/kb/integrated-plugins-visual-composer/ that I cannot see – so what use is this to me before I purchase??. Visual Composer is – IMHO – probably one of the best things to happn to Wordpress & I am concerned as to what will & will not work in your theme. If as you seem to say – you are customising Visual Composer – I wonder why the original dev is allowing you to use it? It’s a bit like me buying a Ford car with a “customised” Sony Radio that will only work in daylight hours?

What I’d like to know is why do you supply a copy of Visual Composer with reduced functionality? If it will not perform exactly as the “proper” Visual Composer then why refer to it by name as Visual Composer, and not Visual Composer Light? I am from the UK and here you would not be allowed to do this, as we have strict consumer laws covering this type of thing. Here a Ford is a Ford – and not “a bit like a Ford” ;) Thanks.

Hi There,

It sounds like you may be confused on how Visual Composer works. The plugin is meant to be customized on a theme by theme basis based on the needs of the developer. In our case, we customized it to work with our Shortcodes allowing our customers the ability to drag/drop layouts using our Shortcodes with a page builder interface. Partly because many of the Shortcodes found in the standard plugin were already created by us in our Shortcodes plugin and partly because there were many bugs/inconsistencies in the development of the standard plugin, for it to be up to the standard of our customers we custom tailored the experience to work seamlessly with X and for our own needs.

It has nothing to do with lite vs the standard version since when you purchase the theme you are not purchasing just the tool, but the theme itself (with that being just an extra feature we make available to those who want to use it), and we also state that it is a customized version on our listing when we say If you are looking for a simple, visual way to build complex layouts with our Shortcodes, now you can! We have integrated a customized version of Visual Composer into X to use with our own Shortcodes (included as a separate plugin). While we do not support the standard version of VC nor 3rd party extensions to the plugin, we do support our integrated version.

Further, if you want to use the standard version of the plugin, you are welcome to do so. We simply don’t provide support or guarantee compatibility with all features of the standard version for the reasons explained above…with the link you referenced being a more in depth explanation for our own customers.

Great theme. Well thought out with great amount of customisation.

I would like to see better image handling though. If we wish to use the blog, our images have to be constrained to a certain height, otherwise the single page view has a very large top heavy photo, not in file size, but in the vertical dimension.

We’ve had to spend a great deal of time modifying the theme files to get the look we want. This is to be expected though, with most themes. It may work for most site owners who run personal blogs etc. but for corportate clients, it is rather cumbersome.

If I am not using any of the other stacks, I shouldnt get a pile of thumbnails for those in my file system. I am having to go into FTP and delete thousands, literally.

Also 2 blog layouts are a bit limiting. Neither suit our taste unfortunately and we have had to install the special recent posts plugin to overcome this.

A great amount of work has gone into this theme, but our developers feel it is too heavy and slow to manage on our network.

What does make this theme appealing are the permium bundles that come with it.

Hi There,

Thanks for the kind words about X!

I think there may be some confusion on images as the image sizes are directly related to the size of your content area set in the customizer (and which is unique for each person due to the granular control we provide). Further, the Ethos Stack provided the option for more “standard” featured image sizes due to the magazine nature of the layout. As time goes on, we plan to investigate other options for featured images as we did for the Ethos Stack. The bottom line is that making images work responsively is always a challenge due to the myriad of devices and orientations that viewers can potentially access your site from.

Regarding the blog options of standard or masonry you again have numerous controls based on the Stack you are using. For instance, as you can see in this Icon blog demo you can optionally set custom backgrounds for each post format (in a standard or masonry layout) or in this Renew blog demo you can activate icons that extend outside of the content area when your site is boxed (again in a standard or masonry layout). These are just a couple of many other potential configurations you can make with the blog layout and based on which Stack you are using. Be sure to read up on the Stack features for more information.

If you need anything further, we’ll look forward to seeing you in our member area.

hi, can i install different plugins than supplied? i need 2 carousel galleries,is this possible ?

cheers rex

Hi Rex,

Customers are welcome to integrate any 3rd party solution they wish, however from a support standpoint we only provide support for 3rd party tools integrated into the them in some way.

Cheers!

Hi,

Firstly, this is the most versatile theme I have ever come across (and believe me I have purchased a few over the years!).

Secondly, I was wondering how you achieved the “Stack Styles” section of http://theme.co/x/demo/integrity/1/

Specifically, how the images fade in from either side of the page and meet next to the small images in the center.

Nevermind, I just saw the “Column edit” icon in the Visual Composer :)

Hi There,

Many thanks for the kind words! We are thrilled to know you are enjoying your time with X :)

If you need anything further, a member of our development team will be happy to assist in our member forum, and if you haven’t registered for access yet, you can do so here.

Hello, can X be used to create a network of the same site across multiple domains? Also, can you recommend any developers skilled with X or do you do development work as well?

Hi There,

You would need a unique license for each domain in the network, however X is multisite compatible. We do offer development services to our customers, and once purchased you can contact us for more information.

Cheers!

I was wondering if this theme is currently ”ADA Compliant” (Americans with Disabilities Act). Thanks!

Hi Robert,

X includes WAI-ARIA roles throughout each and every template file to ensure that your site conforms to the latest accessibility standards set forth by the W3C.

Cheers!

Hello,

How do I make sure the sidebar appears first when viewing the site on a mobile?

Thanks,

Hi There,

Sidebars won’t appear first due to the layout of pages and the sidebar’s secondary nature as they take a back seat to the main content area. If you required the sidebar to show first, that would require a very little customization when using a child theme (you could simply move the sidebar above your content).

If you need anything further, a member of our development team can assist in our member forum.

Cheers!

I appreciate the quick response. I only have a drop-down menu on each page and I need it to show above the content. So how do I do this now? Best,

You’re welcome…all support if provided in our member forum, and if you haven’t registered for access yet, you can do so here.

Hi,

It says that this theme does automatic updates to the theme and plugins, does it mean it will do what a managed hosting provider does with Wordpress core files and update the theme and used plugins without me needing to do anything?

Thanks.

Hi There,

Yes, automatic updates means that when you have verified your purchase and generated a Themeco API key, that key will unlock automatic updates for your theme so that each time we make an update to the theme, you will be able to automatically get notification in your WordPress dashboard that a new version is available and update directly from there.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. But will it do the update on it’s own without my interaction? Or will it just notify me that it’s available and ill still have to go to the dashboard and click on update?

Another question, i’m comparing wpengine and pagely for hosting, what i’m afraid of is wp-admin being very slow when using such a rich theme like X theme. Any thoughts about that? I have one site using Enfold theme on a regular shared hosting and the dashboard is just so slow even though the site itself runs fine. I typically have to wait 5-10 seconds after each click i make inside dashboard. Is that suppose to be like that? How is it like with X?

Thanks again.

You’re welcome :)

1) You will be prompted to update, then once you click the button it will be done automatically.

2) Hosting will certainly play a big part in the speed and performance of your site. X was developed to best practices with a heavy focus on performance an optimization, and we also outline many of the user side configurations that can be done to a site to further improve performance in a Knowledge Base article in our member center. It is important to understand though that there is only so much a theme can do from a performance point of view, and if the hosting environment is lacking in resources or oversold with too many other sites on the server all vying for the same resources, you can expect to see slow load times no matter what you are using.

Hello I apologise in advance for my ignorance but I want to make sure that I understand what you get with a regular licence.

I want to create a website for my own company which will cover blog, ecommerce and editorial.

Am I right in saying that I can create the site using any of the stacks I can, at a later date, completely change the design of the site with another stack. And am I also right in thinking that within a stack and the different examples you show all the features are possible within that stack from scratch?

Regards.

Hi There,

Yes, you can switch from Stack to Stack with the click of a mouse. Each Stack does also have it’s own unique features, and you can read more about those unique features by clicking the “Integrity Features,” “Renew Features,” etc at the bottom of the demos section.

Let us know if you need anything further, my friend!

can i customize the menu like on this site

http://www.regent-college.edu/

If yes – is it difficult or easy to do

Hi There,

While anything is possible with the right customizations, the best way to see what is possible out of the box in X would be to check out the example menus in our demos.

Cheers!

but none of these demos look even closer to my requirement – i want a multi color menu like in the above site – if it is possible and some thing i can do with my basic knowledge of wordpress – I am up for theme buying

Correct, which is why we said anything is possible, however if you are looking for something out of the box to look just like that, there is not something exactly like that without requiring some custom coding.

Hi, How can I use the “Original” version of Visual composer alongside the X theme instead of the hacked version you guys crippled?

Thanks!

Hi There,

It is not a “hacked” version but rather a customized version meant to work in a very specific manner – with our Shortcodes – as explained on our ThemeForest listing and in more detail in this article in our Knowledge Base. Customers are welcome to use any particular 3rd party solution they wish, however from a support standpoint, we only provide support for the integrated version.

If you haven’t registered for access to our member center yet, you can do so here.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply! Are you guys planning to make your “customized” version of Visual composer more like the original. I just want the “simple” fully featured highly customisable drag n drop functionality again with all the 3rd party shortcode support.. :(

You’re welcome. Please see the article referenced above as it goes into detail about our integration and use of the plugin within X.

Hi i wanted to ask, I have an existed website which i would like to redesign. I would like to make the new website offline. Would it be possible with X. Could you guide me what would be the best way about going about it. Thanks

Also I want to install plugins and also i have customisation done to the admin panel so i will need to use it. Is that still possible?

Hi There,

I’m not quite following your question…if you are asking whether you can work on your new X powered site offline in a local environment, then yes. X is a standard WordPress theme in the sense that you can customize it any way you need post-purchase, however to see what is available out of the box, please be sure to review our features.

Cheers!

My logo doesn’t resize when viewed on a smaller screen. http://needmy.coffee – any ideas?

Hi There,

One of our developers will be happy to assist in our member forums as that is where all support is provided. If you haven’t registered for access yet, you can do so here.
