Hi there, I love the look of your theme so I bought it today. Unfortunately I’m having trouble using the front-end of Visual Composer…it won’t get past the page with gif of their logo animating. I’ve read that this may have to do with the license key and in the wp-admin settings for visual composer there is a warning that I have to activate my product using the license key. I’ve also read that I should ignore that warning because the VC is bundled in your theme and the backend editor works fine, so I’m presuming thats not the issue, but wanted to mention it in case it is relevant. I’ve tried this on Chrome and Safari and on two different machines after clearing the cache and restarting but to no luck. I can’t tell if this is an issue with Visual Composer or with Total, can you help?

If it’s not working usually its caused by a 3rd party plugin breaking it. So please try de-activating plugins 1 by 1 (clearing your browser/site cache after doing so) and testing.
The front-end editor will also not work if your WP and Site URL aren’t the same under Settings->Reading – so double check this as well.
Also make sure all server permissions are set correctly.
I am having a terrible time trying to install and activate the required plugins for this theme. I searched and found your recommendation to activate WP_DEBUG, which I have done. Here are the results:
1. I can always install and activate the theme successfully. I can even customize it to some extent (though some customization options are missing compared to other installations of this theme. After turning on debugging, I get this error, however:

UPDATE: I figured out how to solve the fatal error, and it’s now fixed. I understand the has_cap error, but I’m not sure where the exact code is that has the user number r/t the role specified. There were very few active plugins, and all of them are current.
I still have a situation where the listed items under Appearance/Customize is much shorter than the list we get when the theme is installed on another site. Missing options include Styling: Site Header, Toggle Bar, Top Bar, and several others. Any idea why they’re missing?

This theme (right now) uses it’s own theme panel called “Theme Options” which is on the bottom left of the WordPress dashboard => http://cl.ly/image/3v2c0r0h0w3d
I did add some options to the customizer (for now) to make it a bit easier to tweak some colors…

Yes, I figured how to increase the memory limit, which is what was causing the fatal error.
Having used the theme before, I’m familiar with how the theme options are specified. What’s weird is that in our development site the list under Appearance/Customize (the Customizer?) is longer than it is on this site (do you want me to send you screen shots?). There are also some differences between the two Theme Options.
I’m now wondering if a contributing factor may be that I had to install and uninstall the Total theme so many times because of the fatal error. As I was tweaking the settings just now, for example, I noticed that the menu options reflect the Make theme (what we were using before Total) r/t Total. Should I perhaps delete that theme since we don’t need it anymore?

Either-way, I would recommend using the built-in Theme Options for now until version 1.6.0 is ready with full-customizer support. In the next version I have also developed my own custom import/export/reset functionality for the customizer 
So that will also help remove any theme settings that may be “stuck” in there from your old theme.
Minor Bug?
When using the Teaser Box, if I leave the Heading empty under the Heading tab, it still shows the dummy text “Sample text”.

Same here as LaserbeamLTD askes, how to set the fullwidth to a page. Did set it up in the general settings,, then on the per page basis the same layout.
Still I have my page looking like a boxed page with light gray borders.

When using Blog Grid, the ‘read more’ text is not translated in other languages than English. You can try it by using French language. ‘read more’ is translated in the fr_FR.po file but it is still not working.
For some reason, in file: ./framework/visual-composer/extend/shortcodes/blog_grid.php in line: 436 the variable $read_more_text doesn’t have the right value.

The readmore text is coming from the theme options panel. If you have a value added in the theme options panel then it’s going to pull it from there. Can you check to see if that’s the case?

I’m trying to use LayerSlider and no matter how many times I put the shortcode into the homepage and hit “update,” the shortcode is replaced with the word “Array.” What’s going on here? Am I putting the slider in the wrong place?
This is a small bug in the theme that is only happening for a couple people. If you send me a private message I can give you the fixed file. Or you can send me FTP and WP login info so I can fix it for you!

Thanks for getting back to me, turns out one of my plugins was disabling the page settings. For anyone else reading this please note: If you’re running SeedProds Ultimate Coming Soon Plugin. It disables the page settings globally. No problem with theme : )

hello, I move well on this theme, thank you. I just have two questions: 1) how can I shift the sidebar below a slider (980px), because at the moment it is right after the menu and goes under my slider and put a margin -top will affect the responsive design (tablets etc)? I am in full width and I added the slider by ID because I did not find any other options in the selected row. 2) I have two rows one above the other; they are each divided 1/2 + 1/2; I created like that 4 pavers ads, but if a top pad contains more text than the other, all the row below is pushed down and it created a strong shift pad next door. How to make independently-paved?

2. The lightbox video depends on how you are adding it…straight html vs a page builder module. When you get to it and need help let me know!
3. I haven’t added support for social media into the lightbox itself because people (as in your visitors) generally will never use them and it will just slow down the site.
My first action to the sitehttp://dkmtkm.com/wordpress/ today was to change the permalinks. Then I was trying to change the urls in the buttons to fetch the proper pages.
While I was writing the comment above all plugins dissapeared!
This is the image of the site now, and the pluggins cannot be installed -probably they arae in th filesystem of the server.

Suddenly all the plugins of the site dissapeared.
When I looked from the cpanel (on the server) they were all there, but not visible form wp.
I had to instal them again.
This happened twice!
The message was: “the plugin does not have a valid header.”

I have never heard of this error and I’ve been working with WordPress since it was launched! Have you tried contacting your web host about this? Maybe it’s something that would be visible in the error logs. It’s of course something 100% unrelated to the theme as it would be impossible for the theme to disable/delete plugins.

I use this theme for the site dkmtkm.com/wordpress. In the 1rst page I want to show posts of the category “announcements”. I use “Post types grid” shortcode and in the Query area I select Filter by Taxonomy=Yes and in the Taxonomy Name=announcements.
I see no articles of this specific category. Whta is the correct usage?

1. The Post Types Grid is so you can pull posts from any custom post type.

2. Videos aren’t supported in carousels because it can cause some big issues with swiping on mobile devices since they are embeds (so you won’t be able to swipe the carousel and see the other items).

I purchased and downloaded the theme 2 days ago and got notification that the WPBakery Visual Composer plugin need to be updated.
To autoupdate I need to actually purchase that plugin and get a license key, as you don’t provide it.
I looked at your FAQ’s and downloaded the theme again today and uploaded the plugin from the theme’s plugin folder, but it still shows as needing to be updated?
How can I update this plugin please?

As soon as the developer has fixed the error and I test with the theme I will update the plugin. I could easily update the plugin whenever there is an update, but I prefer to fully test it and make sure what I give my customers doesn’t have any major flaws, I do that for you

I was wondering how the theme update function works in the theme options menu. I added my key, but I don’t know what else I am supposed to do?
You shouldn’t have to do anything else, it should just work.
That said…there was a small bug in the last update because I changed my version number convention, if you don’t see the notice to update your theme you can edit your style.css file and change the version number at the top to 1.0 and then it should start working. Or you can wait for 1.6.0 to be released.
Hi, I just updated the theme automatically through Wordpress. I noticed that the plugins are still behind. Do I have to update these manually by uploading the zip file for the install zip?
Oh, sorry. I just noticed from your change log that you have not updated the Visual Composer in your theme yet so maybe my plugins are up to date.
ok so it seems that the automatic theme updater does not update the plugins. Could you confirm this?

I have not updated the Visual Composer yet, due to a large bug I discovered so I am waiting for the next version which the plugin developer says should be ready hopefully in the next 1-2 weeks.

This is an option in the theme panel under the “header” tab called “Header Search” and is available only for certain header styles.
Also, if you have a custom menu added to this page it will not display the search – the search icon is excluded from custom menus – but that will change in the future

Yep, if you select header style 1 and enable the search icon it will show up. It’s just disabled for header style 2 which you have enabled.

3. Is it possible to set the size for the featured media, when viewing single staff pages? My staff pictures are huge, and it looks sille, but I would like to have the picture on the posts.

When I look at your source code I see a plugin called “plugpress” loading it’s own version of jQuery (which is really really bad) and it’s most likely the cause of the issue.

Sorry in advance, this may be a little convoluted.
I am using Google Tag Manager (GTM) and a plug-in called Metronet Tag Manager that is supposed to add the GTM code and then create a “data layer” that talks to the GTM.
Metronet Tag Manager has a box to put my GTM code (similar to the box on the “General” tab of the theme). But, apparently this box doesn’t put the GTM code right after the tag so it says this:
“Add the following piece of code into your template file just after the tag: <?php do_action( ‘body_open’ ); ?>”
I am NOT using a child theme and downloaded a “Code Snippet” plug-in to add the snippet but have no idea where that is putting this— <?php do_action( ‘body_open’ ); ?>
What is the best way to just place <?php do_action( ‘body_open’ ); ?> right after the Body Tag?
As you can tell, I am not too savvy with the coding. Any ideas or direction is greatly appreciated.
