Great work on this theme, I’m thinking about purchasing it.
The question I have is regarding customisation. I will no doubt wish to edit some HTML, CSS and quite possibly PHP in finalising my site design (although X covers the vast majority of this). However, I would like to benefit from your automatic updates, without breaking my custom installation. Could you tell me how best to approach this with your theme?
I realise you wouldn’t be able to support custom code edits, just wondering how best to approach this to benefit from the X theme and automatic updates, with a tailored installation.

How about mega menu? I thought its bundled with it as well
We have our own mega menu feature built into the theme. You can see how it looks by hovering over different navigation items in the 01 demos for each Stack.
i see.. can we customise it? how easy to change the layout/image/color/etc?
Out of the box, you can not customize colors as it pulls through colors already selected in the Customizer. Layout wise it simply allows you to add numerous sub menu items in a real estate friendly way by adding columns of text based on the number of entries you’d like to place there. You can see an example of it in the 01 demos.
so if I need to insert image on top of the menu entries, that will not possible? like on http://www.oneill.com/en-nl/
I am not seeing any mega menu functionality on the link above, but as we said above, our mega menu functionality works how you see in the 01 demos out of the box. Any desired functionality from there would need to be customized on your end post purchase.
please hover your mouse to one of the menu, say “Boy”, you’ll see the mega menu showing, we would like to achieve similar result.. and wondering whether your theme accommodate that

Again, what you see in our demos is how it functions out of the box. If you need anything different than what you see in the demos you will need to customize it.

Hi! First of all congratulations for such an amazing theme. I’m a landscape photographer, currently established at http://www.joseramos.com (zenfolio platform), and I’m looking for an alternative with better SEO. To my surprise, you are one of the few themes which offers portfolios without lightbox, which i definitely prefer, for SEO reasons.
I have some questions about the theme:
- A user asked a question 9 months ago, and you replied you would implement the requestes feature. Have you? This is his original question: “I want to buy this theme but I was wondering Is there anyway I can have a portfolio page with just the categories of the portfolios. So for example if I have a print category and a web design category and a typography category can I have a portfolio page that lists those categories like in a line and when you click on them they take you to another page which shows all of the portfolios related to that post. Is there anyway this could be implemented in a future update?”
- Is there a way to implement some kind of a sidebar or bottom bar thumbnail navigation widget, so that the viewer doesn’t have to return back to the portfolio view to choose the best image he wants to look at?
- I’m interested in the integrity black/dark version. Is it possible to create a more appealing front page from a photographer’s point of view, namely including something like an automatic slideshow?

1) Yes, there is a way to now have multiple unique portfolios within X. How the feature works is that you could have a design portfolio with its own categories and a print portfolio with its own categories.
2) There is a breadcrumb navigation that you can turn on/off, or you could add a custom menu in a custom sidebar to be any navigation you wanted.
3) Sure, the demos show what you can do out of the box, but customers are welcome to customize as needed. We also provide a copy of Revolution Slider to our customers and we’ve seen many photographers/creatives do amazing things with X and the provided tools.

1- About the custom sidebar menu, is it a part of the theme’s built-in options, or are you talking about pure customization made by someone who knows coding? Is it possible to add it to a bottom bar, instead of sidebar?
2- Revolution slider looks like a great option to make the frontpage more captivating. Is it fully included on the X theme, with no need to pay for it separately?
3- Is there a page with examples of sites which use the X theme, other than the demo pages?
4- Is it possible to remove the comment option in selected individual photo pages?

1) Yes. You can add an unlimited number of sidebars and/or custom menus. You can add your menu to a widget area (in the footer area of the site) or in any other widget areas (header widget area and sidebar widget area).
2) Correct, no need to pay separately for it as a license is included with your purchase.
3) There are many examples on our Facebook and Twitter profiles of actual customer sites built with X. We also have a thread going in our member forum of hundreds of customer shared sites built using X, however the forum is only open to registered customers at this time.
4) There is an option to disable comments on a post by post or page by page basis, however to do this on an individual portfolio item page would require a bit of customization. One of our developers would be happy to help with this in our member forum is you needed a pointer in the right direction.

hi!
i have a problem with the theme: on the browsers of my computer it works great, but the navigation on the iphone 5 (safari) doesnt work. when i choose the menu on the upper left, the navigation shortly pops up under the menu, but after a second it disappears again. when i click the menu again, the same happens. its to fast so i cant choose another menu…
any ideas why?

I have some problems uploading the demo content. I followed your instructions and first uploaded x-demo-content.xml > in my case stack icon10 > and step3 the icon10 customer settings. problems are as following… – for the x-demo-content.xml upload I received the following error Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 35127296) (tried to allocate 4736 bytes) in /homepages/41/d251763719/htdocs/wp-includes/class-wp-image-editor.php on line 405 – when I look at my page it doesnt really seem the demo has uploaded in the right was cause there is almost no pre-customized content

Hey guys, just bought the X Theme but am having trouble uploading the zip file to my file manager on go daddy, any suggestions? It seems it may be on Godaddy’s end as nothing is really uploading, but maybe others have experienced a similar problem. Thanks.

Hi, I’m also thinking of buying this theme, but I do have a question. I’ve read somewhere that v3.0 is coming and that there will also be new stacks included. 1) There is not a layout that is immediately close to that, however our demos give the best example of what is possible layout wise out of the box.
2) Nothing has been modified from a core WordPress point of view, we have simply built out the WordPress Customizer for managing all aspects of your site. You can absolutely still use WordPress plugins.
3) We provide dozens of video tutorials in our member center as well as knowledge base articles, demo content, and more. Support covers theme related questions (no customizations or 3rd party plugins).

By another template you mean other than X or do you mean changing from one Stack to another (like Renew to Icon while using X)?

Yes, as long as you are on the same domain (the license is for a single use), you can easily change from one Stack to another in X. The only additional cost if is you were to use X on another domain then you would simply purchase another license.

Hey there,
Thanks for writing in! The fundamental problem here has more to do with the content you have in place and using some code to “fix” it isn’t quite the best way about it. The problem stems from the fact that you have too many links in your navigation, which is being pushed down due to the fact that they are breaking out of their container. You could think of it in terms of filling up a room with furniture, there’s only so much space you have available to fill with items, otherwise things will start to overflow out into other rooms. If at all possible, I would recommend reducing the number of links in your navigation, or perhaps restructuring it (i.e. making submenus) so that there aren’t as many top level links. A code “fix” for this won’t really get around the usability problems that might crop up from utilizing an element like this improperly. Additionally, you could try simple fixes as well such as making your navbar font smaller, using smaller labels (i.e. “Quotes” instead of “Ask for a Quote”), et cetera.
Should you try these methods out and decide you still need some assistance, please don’t hesitate to let us know in the forums where one of our developers will be able to more thoroughly assist you.

Well, I really need to have all those top level links and I feel somehow disappointed with the theme. It’s an issue usually disregarded by theme designers/programers. I’ll check with my client if we can somehow reduce the menu items.

I have run into an issue with either an image or revolution slider slide not stretching from edge to edge on a boxed Renew page based on Renew demo 8.

I am using the revolution slider that was included with the X theme. For some odd reason the X theme is putting my revolution slider …above the navigation menu! I tried re-installing the theme and the slider is still above my normal homepage.I don’t get this and how do I fix this?

It sounds like you have the above masthead option selected on that particular page. It is a meta option below the content area in the WordPress dashboard for that page. You can simply turn that off and the slider will go away.
