Thanks for the awesome theme Kaptinlin -

The only thing that isn’t working so far is the Total Views count for the blog. I have used different computers to view my blog and the number stays at 0.

Please help,

thanks!

Hi,

Not sure what you mean?

Striking doesn’t support total view count for post.

Regards, KaptinLin

Would their be a way to change the wording from Archive in the introduce header just to the title of the catagory?

for instance it says

Archive

Category Archive for: ‘My Latest Videos’

could it just say ‘My Latest Videos’

Hi itsmarky,

You can edit on ‘striking/framework/helpers/themeGenerator.php’ file

Replace the code in line 120
$text = sprintf(__('Category Archive for: ‘%s’','striking_front'),single_cat_title('',false));

With the code belwo

$text = sprintf(__('‘%s’','striking_front'),single_cat_title('',false));

I tried fixing and changing the CHMOD permissions on cache folders the timthumb.php script and even the images themselves but still no luck! The images on my site will simply not load! Some do, but some don’t and this only occured after i updated to the new version of the theme. So somewhere there is a problem and i don’t think it has anything to do with the permission settings cos they were ok before i updated.

here is the error again …..

“file not found wp-content/uploads/images/main%20page/websites.jpg Query String : src=http://zimbabweinternational.com/wp-content/uploads/images/main%20page/websites.jpg&h=500&w=450&zc=1 TimThumb version : 1.19”

I went to my host and tried changing the permissions there like you suggested but still nothing.

Please advise?

Hi Nojule,

I just go to your website, and see the timthumb work now.

KaptinLin

Hi KaptinLin,

I bought your theme and am trying to install it through the WordPress Install Themes panel “Install a theme in .zip format.” I keep getting a failure error that says “Are you sure you want to do this? Try again.” Do you know why this would be happening?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

You can learn from http://wiki.envato.com/buying/support-buying/solving-broken-theme-issues/

Just need upload the ‘striking’ folder in the zip package.

KaptinLin

@GenoF

There is a number of reasons this could be happening – some are server related and some are to do with your internet connection.

There is an easy solution around this. Load the theme by using ftp such as filezilla or cuteftp (both found at www.download.com and are free). Depending on your hosting control panel, you may even be able to log into it, and load the striking theme using the file uploader in the control panel.

There are some simple steps if you choose to load via an ftp program.

a) unzip the striking zip file you downloaded from themeforest

b) go into the folder you unzipped. You will see it contains several subfolders including ‘document”, “licensing”, “resource” and “striking”.

By the way, the “document folder” contains the help file – index.html Double click on that and it will open up in your browser, and it contains the complete help file on all the functions of Striking, including how to upload via ftp (its one of the first things it discusses – manual installation via ftp)!!

c) open up your ftp program, go to your site, and then go to to themes folder found within the in wp-contents folder.

there you will likely already see the default theme folder for twenty ten which is normally included with all default wordpress installations.

d) also within the ftp program, navigate to where you saved the unzipped Striking theme (you will see the ftp program has a separate area/window usually on the left side which works like Windows Explorer so that you can see what is on your hard drive) . Transfer over only the “striking folder” into the themes folder (you just drag it from one side to the other using your mouse) so that now you have two themes, twenty ten and striking. Do not transfer over the document, resource or other folders.

e) log into your wordpress admin, go to themes using the dashboard menu, and now you will see Striking which you can then click to activate.

the help file explains this in more detail, and if we recall, includes some pictures which may help you.

Best of luck. Hope this helps.

Regards Websys team.

Many thanks!

Excuse me but I’m new and I’m newbie… I don’t understand how to instal the theme… When I installed this by upload and instal now the file arrive 99% and arrive an error message… Please help me (and sorry for my mistake but I’m Italian)

Hi kaptinlin,

I am very impressed with this powerful and intuitive theme. I would like to know how to do the following (if possible):

1. Create margin on left and right 2. Create a button effect around the top navigation links (and extend the links across and under the logo).

Thanks

Is it possible to put a frame around any of the sliders? I did a google search for putting a frame around the Nivo slider and this page comes up. Will any of these suggestions work?

http://dev7studios.com/forum/discussion/35/frame-around-nivo-slider/p1

I don’t need to use the Nivo slider specifically, I just want the frame.

Thanks

I apologize if these has previously been addressed.

I have gone tru the post in regards to activating my contact form but it still didn’t help. I successfully activate SMTP , send a test message tru WP and receive the test message. But the thing is that I could not receive any message when I send it tru my website. Same as well with the contact form at the footer. Why is this so? This issue have been with me for the past 2 weeks. I’m seriously cripple with this. I have send a mail to you, attached my username and password. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

It dont work on ie8 :S

but, on another page this shortcode work (i use unique [image] ) :

[image icon=”zoom” lightbox=”true” size=”medium” align=”left” title=”My superbe title”] http://www.mysite.com/images/submenu/my-pic [/image]

Maybe you’ve a Ie hack to solve this probs?

Hi,

Can you give me the page link?

Regards,
KaptinLin

@Websys

Thanks so much! Will get on it.

@Nojoule

Nojoule, it sound to us like you have a permissions issue with the timthumbs.php file or one of several other files and cache folders.

Possibly this threads on the forum may help you as well:

http://kaptinlin.com/support/discussion/657/nivo-slider-wont-work

which talks in more detail about changing CHMOD permissions so that images will load.

Note that sometimes, you have to log into your hosting control panel and go to the file manager to change the permissions. The permission changes does not take when you use your ftp program (that was the problem the fellow in that support thread was having but he had his hosting company change the permissions as presumably he did not know he could do it himself via his hosting control panel).

Note also that with your ftp program, it may show the permission change has occurred, but in fact it is only “softcoded” ftp side and the server in fact has not changed the permissions even though your ftp program shows it has. So if in doubt use your hosting control panel to change permissions, not your ftp program.

There are a number of threads in the support forum on the permissions issues and missing images – apparently a common problem with wordpress. You can search the support threads, and if none of them resolve your issue please post your question at the support forum.

Hope this might help and good luck!

Regards!

@tracyb

To create custom fields for the contact form please see the following instructions by Kaptinlin on the forum for adding custom fields:

http://kaptinlin.com/support/discussion/comment/1023/#Comment_1023

you need to be comfortable with code if attempting the changes you desire.

For the lightbox title:

- on the page you are editing and wish to insert a lightbox select the lightbox attribute in the shortcode generator - this brings up immediately the editable attributes of the lightbox via the shortcode – there are 12 in all – Content, Href, etc. - The third attribute listed is “Title – The title you want to display on the bottom of the lightbox.” So enter your title here and it will show. - send the code to editor.

It’s as easy as that!

We ourselves don’t play around with llighboxes much so for style changes we refer you to another thread in the support forum (is this theme of the forum having the answers starting to resonate?) where Kaptinlin spoke about making style changes to the lightbox:

http://kaptinlin.com/themes/striking/shortcodes/lightbox/

There is lots more info on the dedicated support forum – which is searchable and has 23 pages of questions – all of which have been answered. Almost every question that has been asked here on themeforest in the last few weeks has already been answered over there – often a long time ago. Give it a shot!

Trust these answers at least get you started on your way. Good luck and happy coding!

Striking fans (aka Websys team)!

Hi there, I have a couple questions…

1) How do I create custom fields for the contact form? I need to add some additional required information in the form in addition to the standard “Name, Email, Message”. Is there a way to do that?

2) Where do I edit information to be shown at the bottom of the lightbox popup? I’m looking for the area to insert the text that appears at the bottom of the enlarged image. And also how do I change the color of the text bar on the bottom in addition to the close (‘x’) button.

Thanks!

Hi tracycb,

For the questions,

Websys have replied you.

For the color of text bar you should use photoshop edit the resource/psds/misc/colorbox_corners.psd file in the zip package. Then save it to ‘striking/images/colorbox_corners.png’

@hisnibbs,

in respect of the social slider, in order to select multiple social icons press and hold the control key while clicking on the social icons you desire. Then enter the paths below and save, and that should fix your problem. If it does not then please repost.

PS there is a thread on the support forum for this matter:

http://kaptinlin.com/support/discussion/82

The support forum is a great place to find the answers to many questions.

Can you repost your question that you asked about the tabs or please post it in the support forum, as many tab related matters have been asked and solutions provided over there.

Just trying to help and hope we assisted on the social icon issue.

Best Regards Websys team

Social Icon Widget in footer will only display 1 icon at a time, any ideas why? So I can only have Facebook OR Twitter OR Skype, OR Email, when I want all 4. Advice would be very much appreciated

(also I asked about tabs on page 31 of this thread and you asked me to email and I haven’t yet received any reply)

Hi,

You can learn from http://kaptinlin.com/support/discussion/comment/789/#Comment_789

For the tab, you may email me again. Not sure why i miss your email.

Hi Kaptinlin,

I am also getting an error with regards to my images.

http://zimbabweinternational.com/portfolio/flights-to-zimbabwe/

If you right click the image and select “view” it says…..

“file not found wp-content/uploads/images/travel%20and%20tourism/route.gif Query String : src=http://zimbabweinternational.com/wp-content/uploads/images/travel%20and%20tourism/route.gif&h=459&w=570&zc=1 TimThumb version : 1.19”

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

Great theme, but I’m having problems with the tabs shortcode showing up properly in Safari. I’m getting a weird “staircase” effect. In Firefox, there are thin grey boxes above and below the tabs area. Any help you can offer is much appreciated!

Sample URL : http://www.californiacandyfestival.com/sponsors/sponsorship-opportunities/

Best, Matt

Hi Matt,

You can email me the content for the tab.

I think you just add some extra code in it.

My email is kaptinlin@gmail.com

Hey kaptinlin,

I love the Theme.

However I ran into a problem with the RSS feed.

I have searched though all 45 pages of comments and I have found no solution.

Here is my URL :

http://prologicsmx.com

I am getting an error that reads:

“Safari can’t open the page “feed://prologicsmx.com/feed/”. The error is: “The feed could not be loaded because the content is not in a known feed format.” (PubSub:2) Please choose Safari > Report Bugs to Apple, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.”

Can you please tell me how to fix this problem?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff?

I think you can google for this issue.

Thanks so much for this theme, I really love it and have had great success using it.

Two questions:

1. On the individual blog post, how do I get a sidebar to appear? I updated the theme to 2.2.3 and added widgets to the Blog_individual section. They still don’t appear. What am I missing? Example: http://aralani.com/theblog/2011/kate-towers-wedding-dresses/

2. Is there a way to have an image pre-load on the slider when the page loads, instead of seeing the arrow going around? Sometimes I worry that people don’t wait for the image to load. (thinking something like this http://themeforest.net/item/traject-wordpress-portfolio-and-business-theme/full_screen_preview/116671 for the image load)

Thanks!

- Ara

Hi Ara,

Glad you love it.

For blog sidebar, you can add widgets to ‘Blog Widget Area’ in ‘Appearance’->‘Widgets’ Page.

If it still not works, please give me a permission to your wordpress admin panel. I will help you solve it. My email is kaptinlin@gmail.com

For diable slidershow pre-load, You can use the code below to replace the file ‘striking/js/nivoSliderInit.js’

jQuery(document).ready(function() {
    var slider = jQuery("#nivo_slider");

    slider.nivoSlider({
        effect:slideShow['effect'],
        slices:slideShow['slices'],
        animSpeed:slideShow['animSpeed'],
        pauseTime:slideShow['pauseTime'],
        startSlide:0,
        directionNav:slideShow['directionNav'],
        directionNavHide:slideShow['directionNavHide'],
        controlNav:slideShow['controlNav'],
        controlNavThumbs:false,
        keyboardNav:slideShow['keyboardNav'],
        pauseOnHover:slideShow['pauseOnHover'],
        manualAdvance:slideShow['manualAdvance'],
        captionOpacity:slideShow['captionOpacity'],
        beforeChange: function(){},
        afterChange: function(){
            frame.css('cursor','auto').unbind('click');
            var vars = slider.data('nivo:vars');
            var current = jQuery(slider.children()[vars.currentSlide]);
            if(current.is('a')){
                frame.css('cursor','pointer').click(function(){
                    location.href = current.attr('href');
                });
            }
        },
        lastSlide: function(){
            if(slideShow['stopAtEnd']){
                slider.data('nivoslider').stop();
            }
        }
    });

    jQuery('<div id="nivo_slider_frame_top"></div>').appendTo(slider);
    var frame = jQuery('<div id="nivo_slider_frame"></div>').appendTo(slider);

    if(jQuery(":first",slider).is('a')){
        frame.css('cursor','pointer').click(function(){
            if(jQuery(":first",slider).attr('target')=='_blank'){
                window.open(jQuery(":first",slider).attr('href'));
            }else{
                location.href = jQuery(":first",slider).attr('href');
            }
        });
    }
    if(slideShow['controlNav']){
        slider.append('<div id="slider_control_bg"></div>');
    }

    slider.siblings('#nivo_slider_loading').animate({opacity:0}, 1000,function(){jQuery(this).remove();});
    jQuery('.nivo-controlNav', slider).hide();
    slider.hover(function(){
        jQuery('.nivo-controlNav', slider).show();
        if(!slideShow['captions']){
        jQuery('#slider_control_bg', slider).show();
        }
    }, function(){
        jQuery('.nivo-controlNav', slider).hide();
        if(!slideShow['captions']){
            jQuery('#slider_control_bg', slider).hide();
        }
    });
});
