Hi, evaluating uDesign for a new project and really like the apparent ease of customization, and just wondering if it can be easily tailored for a few needed features. Need the following:
- Strip above the header logo area to contain separate elements like social media icon links, etc.
- In the main header area, I need two logo files. Can multiples be easily set to left and right justify together? Or do I just need to decide on one full width and create one wide logo image? (Concerned about responsive display)
- OK to make the header logo area a png and float over a background image rather than a solid color?
- Can the main nav menu be set for full justification rather than just left, center, and right?

thanks for the interest in the uDesign theme.
Yes, you can remove all header elements and just leave the ones that you want.
And yes, you can have more than one logos, there is a widget area in the header which can be used to add multiple logos with simple HTML, we have a thread in the support forum on that. Additionally the theme offers its own Action Hooks/Filters API which can also be used to insert any code or HTML pretty much anywhere in the theme. For responsive the theme offers another upload for responsive logo.
For menu full justification I’m not sure I understand what you mean by that? Yeah, for now the theme offers left, center, and right alignment, but I supposed if you’re handy with CSS you could play with the layout.

Very impressed with the theme. My client is interested and we have some questions (I thought I posted them already but can’t find them. Must have dreamt it):
Can rotating text be featured on the home page? Like a new quote every time the page is refreshed?
Can portfolio images be linked to blog posts or similar? Can they have captions? I see that they can be tagged for sorting and have long descriptions in the sortable option, but I’m wondering about other options.
Can the latest blog post be automatically populated into one of the slider images?

Yes you can do all these thing with the theme, for rotating testimonials you can use a plugin there should be many available for that sort of thing. Hello AndonDesign, I really would like to buy this theme, the possibilities seems to be endless. Only one question which i want to ask you. Is it somehow possible to change the default lightbox for the photos? The template looks really modern and clean but the lightbox looks really old fashion (is it a default light box from Wordpress?) Yes, you can change the lightbox, which is actually prettyPhoto and it offers 4-5 skins out of the box. What I’ve done in my theme is I offer a dropdown option for you to choose from the 5 available skin options. I believe there are one or two that look more modern. Is the woocomerce a different look and feel/ is it not fully integrated into the theme ?
No, I purposely setup the “TeaTime” demo site with different look and feel from the main demo just to feature the flexibility of the theme but you can set it differently if you’d like.

Hi! I was wondering if you could help me with the slider on my homepage… I cannot get the slider image (using the cycle 3) to line up with the max-width of my page. It is stuck at 940px and my layout is at 960px. —both of my slider images are at 960px and in all of the css code states 960px but is not appearing that way, it is at 940px… I do not see any padding on the slider area either. IS there something I am missing?

Ok so I figured it out and thought I would share in case someone else is having this same issue… In order to get the slider to align with the max-width of 960px I had to write the max-width rule on the container into the media query rulewith an !important on it.

Look, I’m on the cusp of purchasing this very excellent theme. Kind of a no-brainer. However, before I do, I’d like to ask everyone out there how I’d go about putting in a bookshelf on one of my pages. Something along the lines of:

To your question, you could easily add content to a page using WordPress. If no purchasing is required you could certainly set this up with the theme’s portfolio functionality, similar to:http://dreamthemedesign.com/themes/u-design/portfolio/three-column-portfolio/

Now, you could offer downloads with a simply link. As for the effect of a book opening when clicked, that’s something that is custom coded and I can’t offer you this as a default feature with the theme.
Alternatively, you could set a full shop section using WooCommerce (https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce/) which I can show you how it works with the theme, we’ve setup a demo site here: http://idesignmywebsite.com/u-design-shop/shop/ You could disable the Purchase option.

We are using this theme, and our main menu does not respond to the color customization of the menu background color we select in the “Udesign settings >> Custom Colors >> Main Menu Colors”
Here is our site:
https://lassenmedical.com/qa/We actually have this selected as our background color #612026 but it remains white. If we manually add the background color to our css it works, but then it doesn’t apply to the fixed menu once we scroll.
Can you help us figure out how to get our background menu color to respond to the theme setting?

I love this theme very much and I love that you guys keep it up to date, but I have to ask. Is there a particular reason why you guys are updating the theme almost every other day, rather than releasing all the updates in one new build?
Also, would it be possible to add a “Custom CSS” box in the theme options somewhere? So we don’t have to use a Child Theme if there are only a few lines of custom css?

I am not a fan of frequent updates as well, but there are some new feature/plugins that we were adding lately, that I believe are helpful for a lot of people. My plan is generally to keep the updates schedule as less frequent as possible. Also, many of these update are optional, no security alerts or anything like that. Also whenever one of the plugins included with the theme from CodeCanyon has an update I need to update the theme with its latest release in order for people to be able to get it, so really it’s up to you if want to wait, just read the changelog and see if you really need to update or could wait 
As for “Custom CSS” box, we generally encourage people to use a “child” theme for custom CSS and other customizations, a “child” theme combined with the theme’s own action hooks/filters API is a very powerful way to customize the theme.

Please understand I don’t want to register to a new support forum for each theme I buy. In the installation documentation upgrades are not mentioned. Does that mean the theme is upgrade safe and I won’t run into problems?
there is security information that concerns you in the forum about your version, only because you’re updating from a much older release, there were security updates done in version 1.7.0 which you should consider. Also, I cannot guarantee you that you will not run into issues because I don’t know to what extend you have customized the theme’s core files. If you used a child theme to apply custom CSS, etc. then you should be fine.

I’m very impressed with the theme and love to work with it in my next project. Still got a question to ask :
Is it possible to have a page where it’s a Four Column Portfolio but each image redirects to another portfolio (not a single project, just another set of images) ? Like having a portfolio inside a portfolio, without filtering above it ?
Is portfolio filtering a standard or can be ignored ? What if I don’t want to use any categorizing to my pics and just put them in their respected portfolios ?
Can the Filtering (Sortable) Categories have sub-categories which can be seen and used as filtering option in a portfolio ? Or are Tags used for this exact purpose ? The task at hand (which I’m thinking to do) is to have a number of pics (let’s say 50 at least) as a Master Portfolio Page and use the Four Column Sortable Portfolio filtering option to view (filter) the desired pics from various categories and sub-categories. Is it possible ?

To your questions:
- Yes, you could link each Portfolio item to anything you’d like, it’s not hard coded.
- Portfolio filtering is optional
- Yes, you could have subcategories, but they will be listed beside each other not showing any hierarchy, you will just see the children categories as all the other categories listed there. Tags, act in this case just like the categories.

Just to clear things more : The categories filtering option above the portfolio is it always like the demo (in a straight line I mean) or can be like a dropdown menu ? Does it require additional scripting for that or it can be done from inside the Theme Settings ?

it’s just like the demo, drop down is not an option, something like that would need to be custom coded.
