I am having trouble making changes to the favicon and logo under theme settings. Basically, the changes are not reflecting. My wp-content directory is renamed and I am using pre-fix tables in the database – could this cause the issue?

I’m having some issues with Nectar slider on the Ascend layout. I have a full page image sized 2000×2000, but there is a sliver at the bottom that is repeating the image. I have Repeat Image unchecked and can’t seem to find a solution for it.

Perfect update for me. But I didn’t get the message for installing the VC plugin so I had to go to Appearance=>Install Plugins But no problem after that. Keep up the good work

Hey, just updated to a v5.5 and here are a few of the following things: 1) On a mobile-version all my portfolio items are aligned to the left, all crippled with very small thumbnails, instead of normal full mobile screen pics, and so is the text – it all seems to be squezed in a small 1/3 of the screen table. 2) And again with a portfolio – on a desktop in places where heading of an item is longer than 1 line, it breaks up vertical alignment of the grid, making the whole row step down a bit. 3) Is it possible to remove the whole like button under portfolio item making more space for the heading?] 4) When I edit typography, making some items other size and choosing Open Sans (for cyrillic) – when I open up the web-site in Safari or in some other browsers – it all comes back to Times New Roman) What might be the problem? Thank you!

You could try using single quotes on the classes to bypass the issue:

If I wanted to use a child theme, what files would I need to copy from the parent theme directory into the child-theme directory in-order to keep any changes I made to any of the parent theme files active.
In other words I don’t want changes that I’ve made to functions.php , shortcode-processing.php , single-portfolio.php , etc. to be overwritten when I update Salient. Please advise.

Hey – the functions.php and single-portfolio.php files can be added into the child theme directly but the shortcode-processing.php file would require a mod in the functions.php child theme to enqueue the new file location

Testing out the v5.5.1. I’m not clear on VC, do I need to purchase the plugin seperately? I am running multisite and didn’t get a prompt to install it.
Okay I figured it out. If you don’t get a prompt go to Appearance->Themes. The salient theme will have a plugins button under the theme image. You can install the theme related plugins from there and it will install the salient visual composer version. Everything works now. cheers!

Hey, it should show up in your plugin a section of your admin panel – the actual plugin folder is inside the plugins folder within the root of the theme though

One thing: Some of the Demo pages don’t render correctly in the new update as they are still built using the old forked version of Visual Composer you used to build them. I notice the new Demo pages work perfectly as they were built with this new Visual Composer. Is it possible for you to rebuild the other demo pages: One-page etc so that they can be used correctly with the new Visual Composer you have incorporated? I think that would answer alot of the above issues from other users!

I would use the “One page” demo parallax, but I would want that each work would appear in a new page (with a cross to close and return to the one page again). Is that posible?

I’ve seen a few issues with this release, just updating to 5.5.1 so should fix, but before the disable built in VC option was missing. Can we not disable the built in one to use the raw plugin anymore?

Hey – Salient v5.5 has separated Visual Composer into a plugin and is no longer automatically built in – this means when you activate the theme you’ll have to still install the Visual Composer plugin via the admin panel. If you wish to use the raw VC instead just disable the Salient version

container-wrap margin-top
I always have to struggle with my first element on the page because the upper part always is hidden behind the menu. It is that container-wrap margin-top:-55px setting, that I always have to change to something like -22px but why do I have to do this in the first place? Why can I not just place a row, put some content in it and it will be visible on the frontend 100%?

Hi, after the update to 5.5 the theme used in the blog stays on the pre-Ascend theme although I’ve chosen the Ascend theme from the General Settings page… All other theme related things get displayed correctly as far as I can see yet…
I’m using the masonry layout but it’s the identical behaviour if I switch to standard layout.
The next thing on using the masonry layout with the meta overlaid option is that around my images I can see a thin border and a margin… It looks like I had an Excel table on my page with an image in each cell…
Can you please have a look and maybe provide a fix in the next update?
Is there anybode else having the same problem?
Hm, issue seems to be solved for now…
Was related to the plugin “Better Wordpress Minify”. After playing around a bit with the settings / enqueued CSS files I found out that adding “responsive.css” to “Styles to stay at original positions” solved all my problems…
Maybe also helpfull for someone else…
