Hi Lubos!
I’m trying to use this template as a Multilingual site but I’m having serious trouble to translate some text that is inside the Theme Options.
Here’s for now what I can’t translate while using Polylang:
More Info Button ( service posts ) Home ( Breadcrumb ) Learn More Button
I installed WP as fr_FR, translated the en_GB inside bluecollar language folder to fr-FR.
Default language, fr_FR and second option en_GB
Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks
Hi,
many of the theme’s texts (for example those service buttons) are actually part of the LSVR Toolkit (Blue Collar) plugin. It’s has it’s own Po/Mo files so you will have to translate it separately. Not sure if Polylang allows that but you can use Codestyling Localization to for this.
However, strings defined in Theme Options (like Home) are something different. It seems that they must be explicitly passed to Polylang to make them available for translation via this plugin. I will try to include this in the next update this week.
Lubos
Thank Lubos! Maybe an issue on server side but even if I delete or edit the original en_GB inside theme/bluecollar/languages/ More Info stick there. I will take a look at the server database.
Again, some string are not in the theme folder but in the LSVR Toolkit (Blue Collar) plugin. It has a separate languages folder and .po/.mo files (check it out under wp-content/plugins/lsvr-toolkit-bluecollar). On the other hand, string defined in Theme Options (like “Home” in breadcrumbs) can’t be (probably) translated via Polylang at all (right now), but I will try to fix this in the next update (but it needs some further investigation, so I can’t tell you for sure if it will be possible).
Sorry for the confusion Lubos! I’ll try to translate the LSVR Toolkit language file. Thanks
No problem. Feel free to keep me posted if you come across any issues. Polylang seems to be a very simple plugin in comparison to WPML (which is paid), so I am curious if it will be even possible to use it for fully multi lang site with theme like this.
Hi Lubos! CodeStyling Localization works but kind of 2 years without any updates.
At least it works to translate some text like the MORE INFO! Combine with Polylang, it seems to works fine! Only the Home for the Breadcrumb that still need a fix. Not sure about all the CTA Button. Learn more, Purchase, and the Branding Info.
Yeah, I know that it seems weird that it wasn’t updated for so long, but if it works…:) I will take a look at this Home label in the next update. What do you mean by Not sure about all the CTA Button. Learn more, Purchase, and the Branding Info ? Are you having trouble translating those?
Hi Lubos, on my side, More Info is Translated. The Branding, still trying to figure out how and where to translate it. I’ll let you know if I came across another translate issue. Thanks
Hi Lubos! Question for you! When we take a look at one of the service page, when resized to Mobile size, there’s 2 c-separator that shows up between the main content and the sidebar. Should it be only one?
Also, is there a way to add a custom sidebar to the services?
Thanks
Hi,
it is actually just one separator with double line. If you want to display it as a single line, use this Custom CSS:
.c-separator.m-type-2 { border-bottom: 0; }
Currently it is not possible to choose a custom sidebar for service detail, but it is not a bad idea. I will note this and will try to implement it in one of the future updates.
Lubos
Ad Branding Info translation: it will be available in Polylang in the next update. This is the same for ALL strings defined in Theme Options.
ATTENTION : ‘default.css’ (from main theme) is charged AFTER style.css (child theme) so overrides are not working. IMHO this is not good.
Hi,
when you are doing a custom skin, please follow the documentation. Your custom skin css will be loaded instead of default.css. Use child theme style.css to everride non color CSS definitions or add your Custom CSS via Theme Options and then you will be able to override even default.css.
Lubos
Hi, is there an easy way to update from 1.0.4 to 1.0.5 ? Thanks.
Thanks
Hi LubosVolovar,
Just installed the theme, for some reason I cannot access any of the “Theme Options” pages (General Settings / Header Settings etc etc) each time I click the link I get a white screen.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Lubos,
Perfect, worked a treat!
Cheers.
Just wondering how I can make the carousel ‘autoplay’ .
Hi,
It is not possible right now, but it’s a good idea. Will try to add it to 1.0.6 this week.
Lubos
Do you think you might add custom color 1 and 2 options in theme options to make it simpler – great theme by the way!
Hi,
technically, this will be probably possible. Problem is that it will require a LOT of additional coding. And since the current process of creating a custom skin manually won’t take much longer than few minutes, I believe, that it is not worth it. But, I will make some further investigation on this matter. I understand that from user point of view, some user interface in WP will be much better. So, never say never but I can’t promise you anything.
Lubos
OK – I have a small working knowledge of WP – but I’m not totally confident in following all these steps referred to in that process. I see that you referred to $accent-1 and $accent-2 for these colors – can I simply go into the css files somewhere and just change these color values? If so, where exactly?
$accent-1 and $accent-2 are just variables. So instead of changing your colors all over whole CSS skin file (and it is pretty huge), you just change those to lines, generate the code, paste it to a file and you are done. It will save you a LOT of time. If you want to do it in a different way, then unfortunately you will have to hire a freelancer as I can’t teach you CSS. But I guarantee you that the approach described in documentation is the best way to create your custom skin.
PRE-SALE QUESTION:
Hi LubosVolovar!
Should I encounter issues if I integrate the LayerSlider plugin to use on home page or everything should be fine?
Thanks
Hi,
I haven’t tested it, but it should work fine. Of course, if you come across any issue, just send me a message and I will do my best to help. LS is very popular plugin so I understand the importance of compatibility here.
Lubos
Thanks for the fast reply! I’ll give it a try and will let you know how it goes!
How can I change the order of the services on the home? I’ve looked everywhere but it seems to only order alphabetically…
Hi,
you can disable alphabetical ordering under Theme Options / Services with Sort Services Alphabetically option. The you can just change Publish date for any service you want to reorder.
Lubos
Hi, this is a very well designed theme! I especially like how the page content extends into the header background with shadow effect.
Is there a top bar option above the logo and main menu? Because it’s essential for local businesses to display their contact info (email, phone, address) at the top of every page of their website.
Also, do you have any screenshots of the Theme Options Panel? I’d like to see what can be customized with the theme and options for that. Because I noted a comment by another person said that the logo height can’t be adjusted more than the 50px height or it might break the theme. I think the logo size as it is currently is way too small, and wouldn’t work for most of my customers.
Please let me know on the above – thanks
Hi,
ad top bar: there is currently no option for top bar, as the white panel below Services grid on home page was intended for that (you can enable it for any page, not only for home page). But I might create such topbar in next update, as it is definitely not a bad idea.
Ad Theme Options: check out this screen of Header Settings. Also, you can check out the documentation and get some insights on how this theme work
Ad logo size: logo height is limited to 50px by default. But that’s because there are many inexperienced users who may upload 1000px logo and they will wonder why is their header broken. You can easily remove this limit by this Custom CSS:
.header-branding .brading-logo img { max-height: none; }
I did a little test for you. I’ve removed this limit and changed logo size, so you can see what happens, see this image. So the only issue is a bigger space below menu, which can be again eliminated with simple Custom CSS:
.header-navigation { margin-top: 12px; }
You just change the “12” to value you will see fit. Logo is always a tricky part. There isn’t a best solution which will satisfy all users. But to sum it up, you don’t have to worry about it, it can be easily customized to fit your needs.
Lubos
how do i edit the size of header logo ? I looked in style.css but could not find where it is.
Also the style.css is all in one line, that hard to read
Hi,
header logo height is limited to 50px, you can change this value with the following CSS, but it can broke the header.
.header-branding .brading-logo img { max-height: 50px; }
CSS is compressed for performance reasons. You can find uncompressed SASS version in the root folder (style.scss). But I highly recommend you to use Object Inspector in Chrome or Firebug in Firefox to examine styles directly in browser and then just override it via Custom CSS in Theme Options or via style.css in Child Theme.
If you really need to have style.css uncompresed, you can use this tool. However, I do NOT recommend to change parent theme’s style.css in any way, this is not the right way to customize theme’s CSS.
Lubos
Great!! thank you
BTW, please spend a minute and rate Blue Collar 5*. It will help me a lot! Thank you.
Will Do
Hi there,
Just purchased and installed
Was wondering if you can send me the code to setup the footer widgets exactly as you have on your demo site please?
tyvm
Hi,
widgets have to be created manually, there is no code for that. But if you imported the demo.xml you should see those demo widgets as Inactive widgets in bottom section of Appearance / Widgets page (but I am not 100% sure with this). Just drag and drop them to Bottom Panel.
BTW, don’t forget to rate 5* please, it will help me a lot. Thank you! Also, as this is my first theme with Visual Composer, I would love to hear your feedback on overall ease of use, clarity of documentation etc…
Lubos
Thanks for that info.
Can you tell me where I can find and change the opacity and colour of the ‘Header Background Image’ overlay please.
Also on my home page I have some code: [lsvr_image lightbox=”” image=”299” size=”large” custom_class=”margin-top-negative-70”
What is this and how do i use it? In your documentation you have a picture using VC single image – but there is no single image facility in VC?
ad header BG opacity: please read this
ad weird code: this is a an Image shortcode. You are right that in documentation, I am using VC single image element, but I’ve decided to go for a custom solution in the last minute. Anyway, where exactly do you see this code? Because in VC, it should look like this. So you can hover over this Image element, click on edit and upload your own image. So, do you see this code in VC or live on your site? BTW there is an option to rever to default VC image element (or any other default VC element), just read this.
Hi there,
The image code I saw was in VC and I could not interact or edit it in anyway.
The widgets are not present in the ‘Inactive’ area after data import and I cannot add tags to the title area to replicate what you have on your demo. Please advise.
Hi,
so it is not possible to remove the block containing this image code? In that case, remove the whole content (switch to Classic mode, select all, delete) and reinsert the whole layout via templates, or switch to Classic mode, and remove this [lsvr_image….] code manually.
If you don’t see those widgets in Inactive Area, then you will have to create them manually. Check out quick reference to learn what widgets were used in the demo (read point 5. under Footer).
Worked great..thanks for all the help
I am glad! Don’t forget to rate 5* please, it means a lot to me. Thank you!
How do you use the Child Theme ? is it complicated?
Hello,
nothing complicated about it, just install and activate it as a normal theme and you are done.
Make sure to follow the documentation
Lubos
Thank you ! Got it!
Great. Don’t forget to rate 5* please. It will help me a lot. Thank you!
Hello,
I love it and just bought it. Please how do Increase the service list to 10 on the homepage? Making it 5 items on each row?
Hi,
it depends which Home page from the demo are you using. If you are using 1, then just go to Theme Options / Header Settings and use Number of Services Per Row option. If you are using home 2,3,4 then services are created as part of content via Visual Composer. So just open page, switch to Visul Compsoer view and edit option of Services element.
Lubos
Hello LubosVolovar,
Thanks for your response. Am using home-1 but I couldn’t change it using Theme Options / Header Settings and use Number of Services Per Row option. It is 4 fixed. Not editable. Can check it please? So I can fix it here asap? Thankd
Hi,
sorry, it is editable but it’s max value is 4. I will change this in the next update, meanwhile, you can edit the “includes/redux/options-config.php” file (in theme folder). Search for “header_services_items_per_row”. Whole code block will look like this:
array( 'id' => 'header_services_items_per_row', 'type' => 'slider', 'title' => __( 'Number of Services Per Row', 'lsvrtheme' ), 'default' => '4', 'min' => '2', 'step' => '1', 'max' => '4', ),
Just change the "'max' => '4'," to "'max' => '5',". Now you will be able to set number of services per row to 5. Or just wait for next update if you don’t want to mess with the code.
Lubos
Thanks Lubos. I already edited the CSS to make it 6 per row. Because I have 12 services in total.
Now, I have also removed the icons but am trying to make each service-item have different background-color just like the new http://lynda.com page. Can you help with that? If yes how much will that cost? Thanks
This will require some additional coding to make each service posses an unique class (let’s say based on its slug). Nothing hard and it is actually a great idea. I can add it to the next update (I’ve just submited the new update today – 1.0.5, so I can add this in the 1.0.6 in few days). Then I can give you simple Custom CSS to change color for each service.
But if you need it ASAP, then you will have to hire a freelancer as I am not available for freelance work.
Thanks Lubos for your prompt response. I think It will be great to have it in the subsequent update. I will try doing that myself and see if it works. Goodluck once again in sales!!!
I will do my best to release 1.0.6 within upcoming week, so don’t hesitate to contact me after that and ask for that Custom CSS.
BTW, please, spend a minute and rate Blue Collar 5*. It will help me a lot! Thank you.
Thank you. In case you add the alternate color implementation in the subsequent version please put it beside the service icon with color palette in the service page. Thank you
Not sure what do you mean (it’s early morning here:))
Goodmorning Lubo,
What I meant is when you’re working on a new update, in case you go ahead with making it possible to have the kind of color implementation on http://lynda.com. Am suggesting that you implement the ability to change the background-color of each service-item the same way you can change the service-icon. Thanks
Ok, I get it now. Not sure if I am fan of this idea, because when I do this, it will be logical to make also a field to define the service icon color and this will complicate few things. But anyway, I can assure you, that once I will implement those unique classes feature, making a different background will be just matter of simple CSS which I will happily provide.
Hello Lubos,
Wow thanks for being on time on your update. Am downloading it now to continue my work. You said I should remind you of the CSS I can use to modify the color for each of the service slug. Just a follow-up. Thanks
Hi,
here is that promised Custom CSS. Add it under Theme Options / Custom CSS/JS:
.c-service.slug-<service-slug> .service-header { background-color: #FF0000; }
.c-service.slug-<another-service-slug> .service-header { background-color: #FF0000; }
...
For example, for services in my demo it will look like this:
.c-service.slug-central-heating .service-header { background-color: #FF0000; }
.c-service.slug-electricity .service-header { background-color: #FF0000; }
...
If you don’t know where to find/edit slug, check out this image.
Of course, this will work only when you DON’T have service thumb image.
Wow! Lubo you’re too kind. I wish I can give you double 5-Stars. Let me try it now and I will share it with you. Thanks
Thanks:) Let me know if it worked.
Yes, It did work. I will send you the link when I put it up. It’s still on my system. Great job!
Love it!
thanks:)
Pre-sale question:
I really love those boxes on the home page #2. Can it display only 6 or even 4 boxes?
Thanks
Hello,
which boxes do you mean? You can change the number of items per row for every content element, but please be more specific and I can tell you exactly if it will be possible .
Lubos
I’m talking about the items in the slider just below the header : http://demos.volovar.net/bluecollar.wp/demo/home-2/
You have 8 items in square
There is no slider on that page. You are talking about services and yes, you can change number of those item per row and in total.
Thank you. I might consider buying it this week
Thanks for your fast reply
great:)
Great work. GLWS
thanks
I cannot get the parallax effect to work on a browser window 1200px or less.
Where do I change that?
Hi,
paralax won’t work on resolutions smaller than 1200px as such resolution is nowadays used mostly by mobile devices and they have often problems displaying the parallax effect correctly. You will have to hire a freelancer if you want to change this behaviour.
Lubos
Hi Lubos,
First of all, a very nice template. Although i have a question about the ‘More info’ text on Services
Where can i change this?
Kind regards, Lokman
Hello,
this text is hardcoded in archive-lsvrservices.php (if you are talking about default services list page). You can change it there in the code, or translate the theme via Codestyling Localization.
Lubos
I did manage to change the Localization file, but it only change on the home1, home2 is still showing ‘More Info’
You still mean “More Info” on services, right? Both Home 1 & 2 are using exactly the same shortcode for displaying service list, so if it works on 1, it have to work on 2. If not, then it have to be some kind of caching issue.
Yes, but i noticed that Services on home1 is hardcoded and the other services is a part of the composer element. Where can i edit the composer element?
Sorry, you are right. The home 1 services are created via Page Settings and you can find its code in “components/page-header.php”.
BTW, they are not hardcoded, you can turn them off in Page Settings if you want.
In the Backend Visual Composer there appears to be a few standard VC elements missing, like Single Image, Tour Section, Pie Chart, etc. Some of these have been used in the default templates provided with the theme though. I’m not sure how to amend or add new ones.
Hello,
please read this. BTW I’ve tried to deactivate all templates which uses those deactivated elements, but it is possible that I’ve missed some. I’ve certanaily haven’t used those deactivated elements in theme-specific templates (represented by “tools” icon) though.
Lubos
The Instagram plugin is constantly showing a spinning circle. Have you had an issue with it?
Thanks Pj
Hi, please read this. Please always search through the documentation first. Thank you.
Worked perfect! Thank you
