Hi Chris,
What a beautiful job! You have no idea how long I have been looking for something like this – hope you sell lots!
I’ve got a question and a couple of suggestions.
1 Popular articles – are these based on comments or views – I’d like to switch comments off, so it would be great if popularity was measured based upon page views?
2 Not a great issue, but it would be cool if the user could Ask a Question if they cannot find an answer they are looking for. The Contact Form could achieve this, but it might be better as a button / function at the bottom of each post e.g. ‘Not found what you’re looking for?’
3 Have you thought about releasing this as a plugin? Again, it’s not a deal-breaker for me, but it might be nice to provide the KnowHow functionality within an existing theme – create the articles as Custom Post Types to keep them separate from normal blog posts?
Simple. Elegant. Fab!
Jim
Hey there,
1) They’re based on views.
2) I’ll take a look into it, it could be a good addition
3) I haven’t considered it to be honest, but I will look into it.
Cheers Jim
Very good! Since my need and urgency, I’m buying now and then to let the questions, congratulations for a job well done ChrisMooney, I hope to be buying his other works very soon! Big hug man!
Hey there,
Thanks for the super nice message
Do let me know if you’ve got any questions.
Thanks
Really like the look of this theme, especially compared to the other knowledge based themes. Couple of questions before I purchase.
1. Can you easily add logo/header?
2. Can you change the number of posts under each category heading on the home page (5 show under each now)?
3. Can you change or remove the little thumbnails (film strip, paper, etc/) that are to the left of the article title when looking at the category?
4. Can you modify/remove the red numbered circle next the the category title that shows how many posts are in that category?
Thanks!
Hey there,
1. Yup, in the theme options panel you can upload your logo directly there.
2. With a small modification you can (I can assist). I’ll add this as an option in the next one. Good find
3. Sure, just drop me an email and I’ll give you a snippet of Custom CSS to add to the theme options.
4. This is the special category widget that’s included. If you just want a plain widget (without the numbers) you can use the default one.
If there’s anything else, let me know
Thanks
Hi Chris,
Cool looking theme, I think I might be able to use it
You say it works in IE9 . How does it degrade in older IE versions? Have you tested it? Don’t mind if it doesn’t look as cool but as long as it’s functional.
Cheers
Ben
Hey there,
It works on IE8 no problem (just no rounded corners or fancy shadows). IE7 it’s probably hit and miss but I wouldn’t worry too much about it’s browser share is just 2%: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp
Let me know if there’s anything else.
Thanks
Thanks for the tip on the reordering plugin!
No worries
Looks great!
Does the theme have any provision for arranging knowledgebase articles? I know that, in some categories, I might need a different order (for example, a “Getting Started” section might have a different arrangement).
Otherwise, are there any plugins you recommend for this? It’s been years since I’ve worked with any WP post ordering plugins…not sure which ones are still good, if any.
Thanks,
Mark
Hey Mark,
This could be exactly what you’re looking for:http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/reorder-wordpress-posts-using-drag-drop/
It has drag and drop so it should be a breeze to use.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks
Hi Chris,
Theme looks good, good work. Would it be difficult to allow user signup and content submission within the style of the theme?
Hey there,
I think you would need to hire a developer or dig around for some suitable plugins that might be able to do it. Off the top of my head, I wouldn’t know, sorry!
Thanks
Have you tried integrating any forum software with this?
Do you mean like bbPress (http://bbpress.org/)? It will work out of the box, although there isn’t any specific styling for it.
Thanks
Looks superb, any HTML version soon? Not a wordpress fan!
I’ll look into it
Great looking theme, but it needs work, the basic errors i’ve had to deal with are really disappointing, and I’m hoping I don’t run into more major problems while using this theme.
The ‘Page Header’:
<?php __('Article Categories','framework') ?>
isn’t working, I had to hard-code it, couldn’t find any instructions in the documentation.
The ‘Related Articles’ on each entry are also doubled up, also broken on the demo, <?php the_title(); ?> has been added in twice.
Also wish I noticed there was no PSD with this theme, thought all ThemeForest themes came with PSDs.
For a Knowledge Base theme, there really could have been better handling of code and pre as well, having to bring code in from another project to make it look OK.
Hopefully some of the problems are fixed in a new release, too late for me as it’s needed for a project this week, and I’ve already made design changes, but for $45 you’d really expect a bit more basic testing. Disappointing.
Hey there,
I’m sorry you were disappointed with some aspects of the theme.
Could you clarify what wasn’t working with the Page Header and what was hard coded?
Thanks for letting me know about the related articles bug, I’ve got that fixed for the next version.
A PSD isn’t a requirement for WordPress themes here and fewer and fewer themes are including them. You can check by looking at the item page and checking the “ThemeForest Files Included” section of the item details.
For handling code I would recommend this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/syntaxhighlighter/. It’s used by WordPress.com and it’s fantastic for displaying code.
Feel free to email me via my profile with a follow up and I’d be more than happy to help you.
Thanks
Do you know if it is possible to link this theme with an existing theme and have both themes search results linked?
For example, say I currently have my main theme at example.com and put your theme at example.com/help, is it possible that if users searched on example.com that the content from example.com/help would appear?
Hey there,
To be honest, I’m not sure. You would need to talk to a WordPress developer to see what they could do, it would be a custom solution.
Thanks
Loving this Chris! This has got to be the best looking and functional knowledge theme yet!
Bookmarked as well! I tend to buy a lot of themes and never use it, it’s like ‘hoarding’
Thanks Naweed, let me know if you have any questions
Thank you all for the feedback
Looks awesome. Bookmarked!
Nice bulletproof ideas ; great work !
Good luck with sales
Great job! Will sell well
Looks great. Can photos be included in Posts? I did not notice any in the examples but would be great for screenshots.
Hey there,
You can indeed, here’s a article with a featured image and a image with a caption: http://themes.swishthemes.com/knowhow/can-i-change-my-username/
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks
Was this tested on Android’s stock browser and / or mobile Chrome?
Hey there,
I don’t own an Android phone, so it’s only been live tested on iPhone and iPad. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t work though. Do let me know if you notice any issues.
Thanks
Looks quite nice. Good luck with sales!
GREAT work man! I’ve been waiting for a theme like this for a very long time. There are a few knowledge base themes at ThemeForest but quite frankly, those have truly sucked.
Didn’t buy this one yet, but definitely will for one of my upcoming projects. Looks feels very very promising!
Thanks, do let me know if you have any questions
