Hi,
You don’t need to use a child theme unless you are a developer and want to customize the main theme with additional code. So you can just leave it aside and just install the main theme.

You are mistaken. You do not need the Child Theme, for updating the Main Theme. The instructions on how to update the theme is given in this section of the documentation – http://brandexponents.com/oshin/documentation/#update-theme . Please follow it and let me know if you need any assistance.

ok, but i think i should use the child theme because i translated parts of the site using POEDIT, but if I update the theme, the translation disappears and come back to the original language . I have to use the child theme to work around this?
Alternatively, you can take a backup of the Translated files before you update the theme and place the files back in the folder after the update is done. The theme package does not include the translated files for all the languages. I am sorry if you were not aware of this. If you can share the translated file with us, we will ensure to upload it along with the package in the subsequent updates, so you do not have to place the files again. You can email us the file using the private message tab in the Support tab in Themeforest.

This issue would occur if you have not updated the theme to its latest copy , which is Oshine 2.1. Please update the theme and the issue will be resolved. I’ve had to do this by going through the FTP Server. I managed to replace the oshin folder through wp-content/themes/’oshin’ using the cyberduck app on my macbook but I’m still having the same problem with the feature images.

Hello, I saw you provided an option to change the colour of the 3-stripes menu icon, however this doesn’t seem to work. Mij sidebar is blue, and the icon grey (due to the typography colour I chose.) I really want it to be clearly visible thus white in colour. Can you provide me the instructions to do so? The ones posted earlier don’t seem to work here.
If I wasn’t clear enough, I’m referring to a custom CSS code, the one given earlier in these comments give me an error (missing semicolon, unexpected value ’!’) and so on.. Thanks for your help.
I solved the problem, but I still have 1 important question, so please let me know what I can do. On my homepage i have a slider with a static layer, however the static layer is displayed on top of my full screen menu (the left slidebar full screen menu option). How can I send the static layer under the full screen menu? Due to the layer being there I can’t click any menu items and such. Thank you!

As per the design the ‘Menu’ will be top most layer and the Slider will stay beneath it when the menu is opened. This is how it works in our demo as well. Can you give me a link to your site, so I can see what the issue actually is?

hi, Swami how are you? I am choosing v17 to make my website as an entire lightbox videos portfolio and i was wondering if there is possible to get more than one video from one thumbnail? I have some jobs that involves 3 or more videos and i was thinking to show them from just one thumb. In case it is possible, how would them appear? as lightbox carrousell or as a page with them listed on it? do you have an example how this would look like?

Oh, what a pitty. Is there any other way then to have multiple videos in any format, not just lightbox? I mean, for example those thumbnails, that i want to contain more than one video, take me to some page or blog where i can list a bunch of videos? My suggestion would be to simply set the Portfolio style as Page builder in the edit screen of your portfolio items and use the video module in the page builder to add multiple videos each in a separate row. This way you can have as many videos as you want for a single portfolio thumbnail.

I followed the link you posted and the instructions. I now see how to get columns (instead of a vertically aligned dropdown) My concern is being able to add more functionality.
1. Background hover color on the menu bar (instead of title color change on hover) This is the most vital 2. Adding images to the dropdown Mega Menu 3. Enabling the “description” option thats built into the menu. 4. Perhaps adding a custom area via widget (like most recent posts with thumbnails)
I’ve tried free options and purchased Uber Menu but there are several conflicts making it difficult to integrate.
Any suggestions would be appreciated whether its by css or by purchased plugin thats compatible. Thank you!

1. The default styling that comes with the theme is the color change on hover. If you want to add additional styling like BG color change, you can do sony adding a custom class and styling it in child theme or custom css section in Options panel.
2 and 4 . Unfortunately, this option is not available in the theme and hence is not possible.
3. We have not enabled the option to bring in the description field and we are using just the Title.
Compatibility with a 3rd party plugin is not in the scope of our support and hence cannot help you with this, unfortunately.

OMG this is totally kicking my ass… Ok I need to create a page on my current website. It’s a video gallery mansary style with thumbs nail and the video will open in a Lightbox and play when the user clicks. Now i know that this is posible with portfolio and page builder but for some reason I don’t see on the documentation a step by step way of doing this at all. Yes this is very simple. I have given you the Shortcode for the entire Section. You just need to Click on the Paste Section button in the New Page that you have created and paste the Shortcode that i gave. Once you have copied, check if you find the word ‘pre’ in the beginning and end of the module. If so, erase them and Click on Submit.

Thanks. I got it to work. Just something, I need this to work for video coming from vimeo using an URL. I tried using the URL session but the video does not show. Is there anything else I need to do to it for it to show video from links? thanks
Do you want the Vimeo Video to open up when the thumbnail in the Gallery is click opened ? If so , you have to add the Video’s URL in the respective Image’s media property called ‘Youtube/Vimeo link’ .
There is a Walkthrough created for this in Sidekick as well, that you can refer to. You will be able to view the Walkthrough if you have activated the Sidekick plugin.

You can use the page builder as a shortcode generator. So add a module in the page builder and if you hit the copy icon, the module’s shortcode will be copied to the clipboard and you can paste and use it anywhere. We don’t have a shortcode library as there are a number of options for each shortocde and its a bit complicated to use them without the page builder.

Are you getting any error in particular? Can you check if you have given the correct Shortcode in the provision? It is likely that the shortcode is modified during the import process. Please verify this.

How would I set up a transparent header like http://brandexponents.com/oshin/v9/ but that is sticky and stays black transparent color not changing to white? I have spent many hours and this seems more complicated than it should be. Not only that but my icons on the right are unvisible. I see in your site and the Sticky Header is now back in Color. The sitcky header will take the Header BG color that you set under Oshin Options > Header layout , and i am assuming you figured this out.

My design partner purchased this theme. My question is, if we want to install and tweak this theme on a test site, before transferring to our client’s web host, can we proceed? Or does this mean we’ll need the purchase code twice?
One Regular License that you are purchasing from Envato holds good for one live website/end product. That said, if you are just using on a Test Site, I guess one license should be enough.

Hello. I’m sure this has been asked and resolved before, but I’m stumped. I’m setting up a portfolio, with each project entered by Portfolio > Add New custom post type. I can see the photos display, but cannot see any of the text associated with the post content (Client Name, Project Date, URL, etc.). Even if I enter text in the default WP text box, still nothing displays except the images. It is worth noting that entering data into the Page Builder does display text, but it still doesn’t pull in the post-related meta content. Help?

The provision to enter the information like Client Name, Project Date, URL, etc are given in the ‘Portfolio Post Type’ metabox that you can find in the Post Item beneath the Wordpress Content Editor. After adding the details here, you need to add the ‘Portfolio Details’ module in the Page Builder of this post, to actually pull them in the Portfolio Item’s Page.

The best size would be 1920px wide . Slightly smaller file of 1280px should also look good in most of the devices.

Hi there, Loving the template so far! I have quick question about Master Slider. The text and button look great in the builder and preview, but on the live site, the text shows up with no styling at all. It’s still animated but it’s small and dark like paragraph body copy. Any idea on how to make it look on the live site like it does in the preview? Thanks!

Firstly, thank you for the compliment. To fix the issue that you are facing – In the Slider’s setting in the Master Slider page , you will find an Option called ’Snapping’ which looks like a switch. Turn this off and then on again, and Save the settings. This should get back the styling aspects.

It still isn’t working. Some styling appears, but it’s the wrong color and positioning is not at all what it looks like in the preview. Also, the button text in the normal state is blue on the website even though it is white in the live preview. Basically, the appearance is totally messed up on the website even though the preview looks great.

Hello and thank you for the beautiful template. Hoping you can help me with a couple of issues: 1. I deleted the v12 menu from the drop down list of options, now my only option is to “create new menu” is there any way to get v12 reloaded it or do I need to start over? 2. I can’t figure out how to change the image in the opening home screen, the one with the white background and mouse. Can you tell me how to navigate to this image to change it?

Thank you for the compliment! Find the responses to your questions below -
1. You can’t import just the menu now. You have reimport the Content using the One Click Import to get the menu back. Re-Importing will not get the pages/images once again, so you can do that to get the Menu.
2. The image in the first section is added as Background Image to the foremost section in the Page Builder. You need to click on the Settings Icon of the Section to change this Image. This section of the documentation explains each icon in the Page Builder – http://brandexponents.com/oshin/documentation/page-builder/#section

We’ve bought the theme under our company’s account (zenstudio55). Can you please guide me in solving the following bugs / problems:
1. Fulscreen section – http://brandexponents.com/oshin/home-full-screen-section/ – also happening on your demo, when selecting some text, the background of the selection becomes yellow. This happens only in Firefox / IE browsers, in Chrome everything is ok.
2. Fullscreen section – when having an embedded fullscreen video, the scroll navigation becomes unusable. Look here – http://bmwclubromania.ro/demo-oshin/ – again, this happens only in Firefox / IE browsers, in Chrome everything is ok.
3. In the last section of this demo website – http://bmwclubromania.ro/demo-oshin/ – how can I make the contact form smaller in height? More precisely the ’’message’’ area, it’s height is too big, please guide me to the code responsible for this.
4. Fullscreen section – the navigation button on the right are always white (colored). Can I make them somehow black ONLY for white-colored backgrounds? Maybe this can be improved in the future, for light backgrounds, those buttons to become also of a different colour, the same as the logo (that has such an option to be replaced in the theme options for such a case).

1. This is not a bug or problem. The color given for Selected text is just different. This is hardly noticed as an issue. Anyhow, the CSS below will keep the color similar to Chrome. Paste it in the Custom CSS section under Oshin Options > General Settings .

2. This looks like a browser specific issue. We will look into it and patch the fix with the theme’s update.
3. You can adjust the height of the message field using the custom css code below -

Unfortunately, I cannot be specific about the time when the update will be available – approximately in a week or two. However, you will be notified from Themeforest once it is ready. That said, there is one update that will be released today which will have some other set of issues fixed.
Yes you can have the Menu items linked to each section in a Full Screen Sections page like V13
The CSS to adjust the height of the message box does work with the !important directive when i tested it. Can you try this code -

How do I disable the theme’s social meta tags like Open Graph so I can use Yoast SEO’s instead?
The theme does not add any Open Graph meta tags. If this shows up in your site, it is likely that some other plugins that you have activated are adding them.

I’m using SEO by Yoast with this theme. I’ve duplicated the text in Pagebuilder into Wordpress editor. Will that cause a problem with Google? When I’ve done this I get the “green light” with Yoast.

Let me make one thing clear for you – adding the content in the Page Builder will not affect the way Google sees your content. The plugin will be able to scan the front end pages even though you add the content in the page builder. The only limitation with the plugin is that, it will not be able to scan the Backend for the keywords and this does not affect your SEO in any way. You can simply use the Red/Green Light check by placing the content in the WP editor just to verify the keywords, but it is not necessary for SEO actually. So basically, you can have the content in page builder itself.

How do we change the settings of tweets module, for ex. I don’t want to have unrelated tweets in my blog
And How do i remove sidebar menu? There is no option to delete it!
For the tweets module, you only have the option to choose the Twitter account. You cannot remove selected tweets from there.
The option to remove the sidebar menu is given in the Options Panel under Oshin Options > Header Layout > Top Header Settings . Scroll down to the section that reads – Header Widget Settings and under Widgets Position, move the Right Sidebar from ‘Right’ to ‘Unused’ tab and Save the Settings.
