Just yesterday i adviced by bluehost help center to change my theme from Avada to some thing else because there is a security bug in new version of avada (Avada 5.0.1) conflicting with wordpress work and finally leading to my web site to be off-line for a bout 2-3 hours (ertanbeyatli.com) . Now my question is 1-whats the problem with avada 5.0.1 and can it be corrected? 2- i have purchased one license for Avada theme and used it for about 6 months but i encountered with such a prolem which is not belonging to me. So can i chane my theme license from Avada to some thing else themeforest.net market for example SAHIFA theme

I have read your complete comment and it appears that you have a misunderstanding here.

1. There is nothing wrong with our theme and it should definitely work for you, what is happening here is that your update process did not get completed causing the theme to not work properly. I will advice you to please go ahead and update your theme immediately to our latest version 5.0.2 please using the Manual FTP method as mentioned here : https://theme-fusion.com/avada-doc/install-update/ftp-installation/

After updating theme to 5.0.2 please make sure that you are also updating your Fusion core plugin to 3.0.2 and Fusion builder plugin to 1.0.2 as well so they are compatible with theme version.

2. It also appears that you are on a lower version of PHP, please make sure that your server is on 5.6+ version of PHP as mentioned in our theme requirements document post here : https://theme-fusion.com/avada-doc/getting-started/requirements-for-avada/

Other than that, there should be no issues at all and we welcome you to open a new ticket if you still have any issues with your site.

PS : I want to assure you we have no security bug in our theme at all, whoever you talked to at bluehost had no idea what he was saying and didn’t even assist you properly, the error you are getting is simply because of a lower PHP version as per my comment above. we’d like you to reconsider about that. If you open up a ticket we will be happy to assist you with the issue, i see the last ticket you opened was on 29th of March and nothing after that, if you can open up a ticket we can prove there is nothing wrong regarding security with our theme.

I would like to clarify something very important:

You have been completely misinformed by your hosting provider. This is the error you received:

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION

When trying to activate the Fusion Builder, resulting in this error, is directly related to your server and not an issue or security flaw within the theme, to the contrary.

This error occurs when the version of PHP you are running on your hosting server is old and it does need to be updated to at least PHP version 5.3 or newer and preferably PHP version 5.6. You can check and verify your version of PHP by going to Avada > System Status in the WordPress Dashboard

In fact, besides the themes requirements, this is a minimum expected requirement by WordPress themselves. PHP 5.6 or greater -> http://bit.ly/1zdp35Y

There is no security issue with the theme, and frankly, if you host can’t or won’t update your servers PHP version then we suggest that you contact then again. It is critical that your server’s PHP be updated

Hi, I currently updated MANUALLY (via FTP) from version 3.8.8 to version 4.0.3. My question is can I AUTO update to version 5 from in ADMIN or do I have to manually update to this version as well. NOTE: The theme has been registered before for auto updates with the earlier code method in ADMIN. Thnks

One final question is, as I have also updated Woo commerce to the latest version (2.66), there is now a notification at the top of the page that says >>>

with a [Run the updater] button ??

Oh and one final small thing Ammar… just noticed when I checked on Chrome and Edge that all my fonts are really THICK and BOLD and look YUCK. I was working in Firefox before which looks great!... any thoughts on how to fix that please? It was fine on all browsers before the upgrade to 5. Thanks man !

It could depend on the font you are using, some browsers only support certain weights of certain fonts. Try to change fonts to see, if that is the case then it could just be that font.

After you receive a successful registration message please go to Dashboard > Update Core page of your WordPress installation and click on “CHECK AGAIN” button a number of times please and see if the update comes up.

5.02 broke everything. When anyone views the website all of the shortcode is visible in plain text. So of course, none of the shortcodes are working either.

I’m getting really tired of finding these huge errors despite not doing anything radical. I follow every single update according to Theme-Fushions directions and rarely do anything other than update, only to find that everything is f*cked again.

I bought this theme because I didn’t have any advanced wordpress skills. Now it seems I need them just to use this theme.

Guess I need to rollback until the publishers figure out what their doing.

Update: This resolved 80% of the problem for me. The shortcode on my website is now hidden and MOSTLY the way it was. I still have to manually go in and modify some pages and stuff.

That was definitely the issue, your shortcode conversion didn’t get triggered after an Update, this can happen due to various reasons however we have a manual trigger option inside Avada > System Status tab too.

Hi there

I would like to add here and clarify something. Regarding the screenshot in your forum post, that definitely was related to a WordPress user account access level. It is rather strange that it came up let alone disappeared after refreshing the page several times.

The root cause could range from server side cache to 3rd party plugins and/or a the database itself that needs to be optimized via PhpMyAdmin

So I built my site 6 weeks ago with Avada 4.03 fresh copy install. Today I copied my site to a testing directory to see how the upgrade is. It fails to update the syntax. Format of page is left with one_half last=”no” class=”” id=”“ etc. all over pages with no style or formatting. I bought the software over 6 months ago and figured since it was the number one theme here it should be the number one best supported theme, no need to install right away. I guess I was so wrong, although I would still be in the same boat with a hole in it on this upgrade. No other plugin I know of has you remove the old and then reinstall the new like it is a different beast.

Please don’t bother people with an upgrade path until one is established and is working please. I see the many others that have had the same issues so I know its not just me. I would rather not have to rebuild my site, I have spent enough time on WordPress to make me think I should had built with Joomla or Drupal.

On another note: I feel this update is just another way to pull money out of users with no upgrade support option when one comes out. So sad, may have to find another theme, maybe a non ThemeForest theme. I can’t believe the hours it will take to comb though the site to remove all of the 4.03 shortcodes, what a waste.

First i’d like to clear your issue here and why its happening, what appears is that somehow the conversion process of shortcodes didn’t run properly and your theme is still using old shortcode syntax, however in any case if the shortcode conversion didn’t run for you we have included a manual conversion trigger in our theme as well that can be triggered from Avada > System Status Tab

Small issues like that can happen if the update process and docs are not followed properly, however we have complete detailed instructions on each and everything in our documentation posts like the link i provided you above.

I would like to first apologizing for jumping the gun on this, I should had started with an email to support from the get go but I didn’t want to have to pay just to have something so stupid fixed. Now I realize the issue is much bigger than just an update.

I discovered that it failed because of an issue with Avada, Fusion and s2member.

We have been having headaches with Windows 10 Edge not working on our site since we built it and I found that there is a serious issue with Avada and s2member. I asked s2memeber if they could fix it and they asked me if s2member worked on all my other WordPress sites and they do so I think this is issue is something with the fusion builder.

I’ve since submitted a ticket. Disabling s2member allowed your theme to complete its shortcode updates and I have given your support teams accounts for an ftp account, my test site with 4.03 and my other test site with the new 5.02 and then my main website. If someone could help resolve this it would be great. For now I am rebuilding my site with a different WordPress theme just in case it can’t be resolved.

I try to avoid Windows 10 and any browser they make but sending out our renewal noticed last month caused such a backslash of angry people that use the Edge browser on our site, it has made me bitter about moving from a hand coded site to a WordPress site. My other sites with WordPress have been great but this one not so much.

Hoping for the best, and I do love the way your theme works. It it can’t be resolve I am building a new site in a couple month and was planning on purchasing this theme again. I can move it to that website if all else fails.

When I update the theme to 5.0.2, it completely resets all of the css and theme options. So all the hard work I did is erased. Is there a fix for this?

It should never happen at all, Updates should never remove theme options for you because they are saved in database inside a table while update (theme files) are inside your server WordPress folder and that is only thing that gets replaced, We also recommend making a complete backup of your site and theme options before updating in our Important Update info section here : https://theme-fusion.com/avada-doc/install-update/important-update-information/

Either the options got accidentaly reset or your server crashed probably causing this, please talk to your server / hosters and ask them if they have a backup of your theme options so they can be restored. In future always create a back up of your theme options and complete setup as per our documentation : https://theme-fusion.com/avada-doc/install-update/backing-site-theme-options/

fusion 5.0.2 – global sidebar navigation doesn’t seem to be working Also – fusion button “design” page is blank.

Fusion Builder does not require an auto udpates or product registration. I’m pretty sure you have old files on your install.

Please remove the old folders (Avada + FC + FB) folders and install them fresh. Something did not upload or update correctly.

While there are other reports that look similar, they are different and each one is due to some files not being uploaded from what we have come across. Either not auto updated correctly, or something is missing. Try to remove (delete) then reupload.

Upgraded to 5.0.2 and I’m still noticing that the page edit screen takes forever to load (30+ seconds). When I deactivate the fusion builder plugin, I do not have any issues. If I don’t use the builder, do I need to have it activated? I see the notice on the top of the page, but are there any issues caused by having that plugin deactivated?

Have you checked your other 3rd party plugins? Try to disable them and see if that helps, or something may not of uploaded correctly, but we have no reports of it being slow like that and in fact is 10x faster than the old one.

I’ve upgraded php to 5.4, and it seemed to have worked for a bit, but the site is now broken again. I’ve already opened a support ticket on their site, but this is ridiculous. What do I have to do?

That error means an old version of PHP, WordPress itself recommends PHP 5.6.

If it worked for a time then stopped, was it right after the update? If so then something did not update right, in that case please remove the old folders (Avada + FC + FB) folders and install them fresh.

Also, we have your ticket and we answer them in the order they are received which is fair to all our customers. We are all working overtime to help with questions for the new update, but that error you report is due to an older PHP version, can you update to at least 5.6?

Although, it should still work even with 5.4, so maybe your server just needs to be restarted or it could be from something not updating properly. The one thing we do know, is that the theme version does work.

Submit button on Token page is broken. I have generated a valid token. I have tried in chrome and firefox and created another token but the submit button is broken. I do not see any javascript errors or issues.

fixed had to deactivate other plugins and insert token.

Hello! I am suffering for several days and I can not update to 4.0.3 with Avada 5.0.2. Everything is updated and installed, but when I start to do the conversion shortcodes pages for the new version – the white screen appears and says Server Error 500. I wrote a ticket to support, but there is really nothing can help, it is necessary to say php 5,6 version, and I 5.3.29, but since 2 years all perfectly updated. What should I do and how to upgrade?

A 500 Internal server error is server related, specifically, and if you experience this then you need to first check the Avada > System Status page and adjust any PHP configuration limits that you see in red. In addition, WordPress now recommends running PHP 5.6, so 5.3.29 is very old from that. However we have made it so it will still work with PHP 5.4 so please update to at least PHP 5.4, PHP 5.6 if you can, and reply back in the ticket.

It appears you have something messing with the minification of js. Can you try to disable any 3rd party plugin you have running and clear all cache? That is probably all it is.

Latest upgrade to 5.0 has broken Fusion Builder – edit page says shortcodes need to be updated, run update process, edit page says shortcodes need to be updated, repeat until you give up and change theme…

I think I have just fixed the problem. The pages that were “stuck” in defualt editor had [fusion_text /] in various places throughout them. That looked plain wrong. Deleted all instances and then was able to go back to fusion editor. Your conversion process must be missing converting them or introducing them by mistake. That’s a bad bug, sorry.

Actually that is correct, but it’s a bug that has been fixed already :)

Yo will see each version, and any patches we have released. To apply a patch to a version, simply visit the Support tab in Wp admin and look for the patcher box.

Hate to rain on the parade, but fusion builder 5.0 goes against the very reasons we went with Fusion ...it was, like, the antidote to VirtualComposer poisoning. The way to build with fusion was so much more intuitive that we dropped vc and migrated everything over. And I was SOOOO happy to leave VC in the dust. Now, Fusion has become more like VC. I am so very bummed

Very surprised to hear this as we’ve had nothing but great feedback for the new Fusion Builder, and even more so because the new Fusion Builder is definitely not like VC.

We would never talk bad about another product, but I can say with all sincerity that VC was never a factor in the first Fusion Builder or the new Fusion Builder. Our user interface is so much better than the previous Fusion Builder and nothing like VC.

First off, most of these changes were done because of the majority of our user base wanted them, and because our development team knew overall there were usability issues we needed to change, and we could boost overall performance a substantial amount. For which we did both, the new builder is up to 10x faster than the old one.

I would highly recommend using it more, in general change makes people shy away from things at first, but once you get familiar with it you will see why and how so many things were changed in the interface to save time, effort and allow for easier page building. There is so much more you can do with it now.

Several examples can be given as to why.

First off the top control bar in the old builder where it showed all the columns or elements, that was the only way you could add content to a page, by clicking an element (which added it to the absolute end of the page) or by dragging it into a specific spot (which was a major hassle unless it was the top of the page). And if you were in the middle or bottom of a page, you had to scroll all the way back up top to insert content. Major waste of time!

Now in the new builder, you simply click + Container, + Columns, + Element buttons ANYWHERE on the page to add content exactly where you are at, no scrolling needed and no dragging needed from a top bar, it is all automatically right there in front of you.

Adding columns is another example … before you had to add them one by one, now you can add entire sets in single clicks. Also, resizing columns required you to use back and forth arrows, so if you were on a 1/2 column and wanted it to be 1/6 column, you had to click the forward arrow 4 times.

Now you simply have to click it once to see all columns sizes, then choose any size with a single click.

The top control bar is now sticky, and is your hub of information. It follows you as you scroll and allows you to access all of it’s controls anywhere on the page, again no need to scroll up or down for anything.

A huge factor and one of the biggest features is the Library in the top control bar where you can save any type of custom content, reuse it at anytime through the + Container, + Columns, + Element buttons and even import/export it to share with others.

Not to mention, the Library allows you to save full page templates, and import any single Avada demo page.

In addition, history in the past had to be used with back and forth arrows, now you have an entire dropdown of your last 30 actions which are even named accordingly so you can leap back in time to any of your last 30 total actions with a single click.

Custom CSS per page has also been added and because it’s in the main control bar, is accessible anywhere you are at on the page.

All content is now added via popup windows and inserted exactly where you select, instead of having to drag it across an entire page or up and down. This is a major time saver.

In addition, yes we’ve added the ability for add ons. That is one thing that VC does have so maybe that is a similarity, but that is not new to VC and any long term product, especially for WordPress has this setup, and for good reason. It will create an ecosystem of additional products for customers to enjoy, many of which will be free and included, some will be paid. It majorly enhances the longevity of the product.

Last and certainly not least, the new structure of the builder (containers / columns / rows) is done for a very specific reason. First, it is the proper structure to use, but it also allows Fusion Builder to be used with any theme on the market, for which it will be released as a stand alone plugin in the near future.

We could continue to go on but these are but a few of the new things that make this builder so much better than the past one.

Is it necessary for the Avada Theme to use Fusion Builder or is it possible to deactive Fusion Builder. I want to change to Avada and all my pages are build with WPBakery Visual Composer that I want to use?

No its not as Fusion Builder is now a separate plugin and can easily be deactivated like any other 3rd party plugin from the plugins tab, you can simply use any other builder you want to use with our theme. However we will suggest you to try our builder once for your future projects too :)
