Apologies there was a bug in version 5.0 which prevented the text transform and letter spacing options from showing up. We have already resolved this and released an update yesterday. Kindly update the theme to version 5.0.1 from you wordpress dashboard and the options should come back again.

There seems to be a bug with the Gallery module. We have already identified it and will push an update later today ( OSHINE MODULES plugin ) resolving the hover color issue. Google Maps recently changed their API where by a API key is required for accessing maps in all domains registered after 22nd June 2016. Kindly go to OSHINE OPTIONS -> GLOBAL SITE LAYOUT SETTINGS and enter your Google Maps API key. Swami, I’m going to ask you one more time and then I’m done. Please issue a new update that enables us to use BE page builder IF WE CHOOSE. Please continue to support the BE page builder plugin.

I am a developer. I have worked with countless themes. NEVER have I had to delete the original page builder plugin – delete Visual Composer, for example – then replace it with a new page builder plugin. And then learn the new plugin. And then troubleshoot the new plugin. ON EXISTING SITES. Just look at the comments—it’s a nightmare, and these users are managing just one site.

So let me be clear: if you abandon support of BE page builder, you’re abandoning support of Oshine. Don’t do it.

Users are having issues with the update because they are just updating directly from the backend and not following the additional steps required. Once they are pointed to the knowledgebase, the transition has been smooth. With over 12000 customers, it is understandable that a few may run to issues while performing a major update, for which we are quite prepared. I am not sure if you have used other themes, but X & Flatsome to name a few, had released their own front end builders requiring users to migrate from their older solutions. It is not uncommon for themes to do major updates, because it is just one product that keeps evolving. We want to build the best products for wordpress and we want to embrace the future. You are free to use the older version of the theme and the BE Page builder and we may release updates for them in the future, but right now to be honest it is not a priority.

We have changed the css framework to a flexbox system, which helps you accomplish far more with fewer lines of css. We have introduced asynchronous & on demand loading of javascript files. For example, if you don’t have google maps in a particular page, google maps api wouldn’t even be downloaded in the first place and even if you have one, it will be asynchronously loaded for superior performance. Tatsu saves the content in the default wordpress editor and not in a meta, which means you can use revisions and a whole host of plugins such as SEO by Yoast can now recognise the content. Tatsu has Undo and Redo functionality which will be so useful while building your pages. These are just a few things that we have accomplished with the new update, something that wouldn’t have been possible with the old builder.

I would like to repeat again that your site will work just as it used to, after your run the converter, which will take a couple of minutes at the max, lesser time than debating the change. I can even help you migrate your sites if you provide your wordpress admin details.

Swami, I have no doubt that the new plugin has some positive features. And I applaud you for striving to move forward. But you’re being dishonest to call this an update as opposed to a new release.

You should be releasing this as a new theme, period. Because a new page builder is not an update. It’s a new theme. Say anything you want, you can’t change that fact. You’re not updating an existing plugin. You’re issuing a new plugin and shoving it down our throats.

Why? The only thing I can think of is:

(1) You want to piggyback on your many sales, comments and reviews, so instead of marketing a new theme – with a new page builder – you’re forcing existing users to go through the pain of installing, learning and trouble-shooting the new builder just to maintain our existing sites. Not to create new sites with new tools. To maintain old sites with new tools. And,

(2) You don’t want to support two page builders.

Well, tough. Even Apple doesn’t change the core functionality of existing products. They don’t pretend that major updates are the same product. They give the product a new name; they require people to purchase the new functionality; they give users the choice to buy (and learn) the new product or not. And they support both products!!!

But not you. I bought my last license from you less than a month ago. But the product is already obsolete. The page builder is obsolete. I can’t edit the site with the tools you just sold me—the tools that took me many weeks and several projects to learn.

You abandoned the page builder that I paid for many times and learned the hard way.

I really, really resent it.

As much as you may love the old Page Builder and of course we loved it too, it is time to embrace the future. We are moving towards 2017 and TATSU is light years ahead of the old builder. You can create and edit your pages in live mode, isn’t that amazing ? In order to have an easy and smooth transition, we have used the same macro level organization as the old page builder. Tatsu uses the same SECTIONS, ROWS , COLUMNS and Modules structure. You have the same options as old, nothing has changed at a module level. Its just that the options now react instantly and you get to see your results as you build. The learning curve is very short and it is important that you take some time and try it out before criticising our decision. Change is the only constant in the world.

If you update to Oshine version 5.0, then you cannot use the old page builder any longer. You will have to use Tatsu, which has all the features of the old builder, but is much easier and faster and provides live feedback. So there is no reason to use the old builder any longer.

The Tatsu and BE to Tatsu Converter do not work. The required plugin installer installs them, but when I try to activate the page just turns blank and sits there. The 2 plugins will not activate or let me move past this point in the update process.

Unfortunately, according to those last comments, I don’t see a lot of positive feedback about tatsu and I don’t really want to use this editor. Is there a way to use the “old” page builder? Thanks

A lot of the feedback is coming from people who have installed the update incorrectly. They have just updated the theme and not followed any of the steps in converting their old pages and posts to TATSU. Having inspected a lot of these sites in our help desk, we found that users had just updated the theme.

As you can see you can edit your pages live and results are instant. It is time to embrace the change and march towards 2017. Tatsu is far more advanced and easier than the old page builder. 1. The Gallery Thumbnail hover issue is something we are aware of and we have already fixed this. We will be issuing an update to OSHINE MODULES plugin tomorrow with the fix. With regard to the two lightboxes, thanks for letting us know about this bug, we will fix this as well with tomorrow’s update.

2. Kindly use the css snippet below to change the spacing between modules.

    margin-bottom: 50px;
}

The actual is 60px and I have changed it to 50px for you. You can change it to whatever value that suits you.

Kindly paste the code in the custom css setting under OSHINE OPTIONS > GENERAL SETTINGS. Kindly ensure that Options Panel cache is NOT turned on.

Kindly note that you have to deactivate the BE Page builder after converting all your pages to tatsu! I believe, you still have BE Page builder enabled which is why your content is not visible! Can you kindly mail all the problems which you are facing after migrating to oshine 5.0 to help@brandexponents.com along with your site url, wp-admin credentials and ftp credentials so that I will be able to investigate further into this issue! Apologies about the inconvenience caused!

Hi. Thanks for your offer of assistance! After I followed the latest instructions most things seem to be ok now… I had to manually install the oshine-modules.zip plugin, from the downloaded update files as the child theme I am using couldn’t resolve the plugin’s url…. I converted the pages and all seems to look fine now, except for the google maps shortcode in the footer.

Previously using the BE Pagebuilder, I had a google map module in the contact page and copied it’s shortcode info to the clipboard and then pasted it into a Text widget in the footer… This doesn’t seem to be working now with Tatsu eg. I tried to copy the Google Map module shortcode to the clip board, using Tatsu, but the clipboard paste function doesn’t paste any shortcode into the footer widget now. Is there a way to add/place Oshine modules into widgets? BTW: Tatsu look great!
