Hey Swami, I really enjoy using Oshin(e), but after the update to 5.0.1 (Tatsu 1.0.1) following the migration instructions I receive a strange behavior: the editor won’t load.

I can start Tatsu, but it doesn’t matter where I click the editor or even the info module list will not open, so I am unable to edit the page (other than in WP, which is not what I bought the theme for).

Maybe you’ll find the time to look at this – or get in touch if you need more information.

I tested it on different Browsers, different machines, deactivated all Plugins not neccessary or recommended by you but I am getting the same results every time. If you have a clue what the problem might be I would really appreciate it.

What I found out is, that I am able to rearrange existing elements via drag and drop and saving is also possible, but the editor still does not load though…

Kindly share your wordpress admin url, ID and password to help@brandexponents.com and we will investigate the issue immediately. Does the issue happen in every page or is it isolated to a single page ? Our guess is its one of the 3rd party plugins that you may be using that is creating a conflict. You said you deactivated all unnecassary plugins, but did you disable all the plugins and see if the issue did persist ? I will inspect your site and will identify the problem and if its related to our plugin, we will definitely resolve it.

This issue was happening in selective nginx based servers. We have already released a fix. Kindly update Tatsu to version 1.0.1 and then clear your browsers cache, before trying to edit and save a page again. If the problem persists, kindly share your wordpress admin url, ID and password to help@brandexponents.com and we will investigate immediately.

After some troubleshooting, it appears that Tatsu has a conflict with NextGEN Gallery; your arch-enemy for conflicts.

Responded to your other thread as well as your email, with a hot fix to the issue. The problem is with Nextgen as it is causing a javascript error in the page preventing tatsu from loading.

Hello, I would like to ask that when I use this theme for one website that has 2 versions of 2 different languages then therefore does this mean, I have to purchase another theme or one theme is enough?

Hi,

I don’t think you have to purchase an additional license to create a new version of the same site in a different language. Anyways license terms are determined by the marketplace and I would recommend you to clarify with them once, but you mostly wouldn’t have to. I would also recommend you to use a plugin such WPML so that you don’t have to maintain two different installations of wordpress. You can have a multilingual site with a single wordpress installation if you use WPML. But its a paid plugin, so if you don’t want to spend additional money, then you will have to go with the pain of maintaining two installations.

In your instructions for Tatsu installation, your next to last step says “Once all the posts are converted, navigate back to Plugins and Deactivate the BE Page Builder”. I guess this implies to deactivate and delete BE Page Builder. Is there any other BE plugin that is also no longer needed and can be deactivated and deleted?

Thanks for the answer. I updated all software per the instructions, and now when going to Edit with Tatsu on anything (page or portfolio), all I can see is the B&W dragon logo filling the whole window and nothing else. This is true for Safari, Chrome and Firefox on a Mac. I checked the page source and there are plenty of codes on the page. Can you provide some guidance to fix this? Thanks, Cuong Huynh

I found the problem and just wanted to share the info here so it may help others. I found a conflicting plugin called Better WordPress Minify. Deactivating it makes the the new install of Oshine and Tatsu work. At least now I can work in the edit environment and explore the new features.

Thanks for letting everybody know. We will see if the plugin provides an api that we can use to prevent it from minifying scripts in the builder.

I would like to stay with the 4.6.1 version of OSHINE until I can figure out how the new 5.0 version should work. I’m having lots of problems with it currently. Instead of risking an upgrade of my current site, I am attempting to use the 5.0 version on a completely new site, then I will move it over to the my current domain when I get it to work properly. How long will you continue to support the 4.6.1 BE Page Builder version?

If you follow all the steps, you shouldn’t have any issues and if incase you have any, we will investigate and resolve them in updates ( which we will be releasing constantly ) or provide hot fixes. Hundreds of users have already migrated successfully so there is nothing to worry. 90% of the comments here with issues, have been because the instructions weren’t followed or were followed incorrectly. There were issues with older ( outdated ) php versions and permission errors in selective servers. And there have been 3rd party plugin issues. Actual issues with the theme or our plugins have been very limited inspite of the fact that this was a major update.

If you don’t mind, please… I still need an answer to my original question. “How long will you continue to support the 4.6.1 BE Page Builder version?”

We are discontinuing the BE Page Builder. Everything that you could do with it, can be done using Tatsu, in a much better way. There is no need for it any longer. The old version of the theme is quite stable and if you want to use the BE page builder you will have to downgrade your theme to version 4.6.1. We will not be issuing any updates to it in the future. We may issue compatibility / security patches if necessary, but we can’t guarantee any updates.

Hi, I am using the Main Demo home page (full-screen image), and I’m having trouble with the image size. My file is 1920px X 1280px, but once it’s inserted, it gets cropped and I lose parts of the image. Am I using the wrong dimensions?

Hi,

I think you have set the background size property as cover ( checked the Center Scale to Occupy Container option ). If you want the background image to fill the section, then it does so by center scaling the image, retaining its aspect ratio, until it fills the section. Portions of the images that go beyond the section as hidden. This is how background images will work. Given that width and height of the section and the width & height of background image will be different in different screen sizes, this is how it is even feasible to fill the section with the image and not have the image pixelated ( squished ). You can try using the “Contain” for the background size property ( option available in TATSU ) , but this will make the image fit inside the section, so there will be white spaces on either sides of the image. Given that you need to account for things like the browser bar and desktop bottom bar, the actual height of section will not be the screen’s resolution. It will be slightly lesser, so in this case use a background image with a resolution such as 1920px x 900px would ensure that there is lesser cropping. At the end of the day it is upto you to find the optimal size for your images, but it is impossible to have background images exactly fit the sections across different screen sizes. That’s not how backgrounds work.

Hi Swami, This is a great theme. I am having one major problem after a month of use…

The top header / menu bar looks great on all pages EXCEPT on blog posts and Woo Commerce categories or spawned sub pages that are similar.

As you can see the menu ignores the spacing that all other pages have, therefore ending the bar – leaving awkward space to the right.

Swami, sent you an email with login info. I for one support the move forward with Tatsu. I noticed some nice things like recognition by Yoast for example. I just hope Brand Exponents sticks by all of its loyal customers through the transition!

Yes our objective is to ensure a smooth transition. Hundreds of users have already migrated to 5.0 already and are enjoying the new features. We have ironed out all the flaws with the older builder and have introduced a much superior page builder, that is easier, faster, lighter and more importantly live. But we have retained the same architecture of the old builder and have all the same options in order to make it easy for existing customers. Just that these options react instantly so that you can view the results immediately, just like how it would look when the page is published. The old page builder was saving its content inside a meta, and therefore had compatibility with certain plugins like Yoast, but those things have been taken care off in tatsu and it will now be compatible with most plugins built following standards. With regard to your issue, its the NextGen plugin that is causing javascript errors preventing Tatsu from loading. Nextgen seems to have caused this problem for almost all the front end builders out there. Anyways, I have made a hot fix in your site and tatsu now loads fine. We will patch the fix in our update as well. This is just our first release and obviously we couldn’t have tested with all the plugins out there, but as and when we find issues, we are fixing them immediately, even in cases where the issue is not with our product. ( older php versions, server permissions, plugin errors etc ).

Hello Ram, thank you for the reply. It was automatically updated as everything on wordpress is for me. Is there a reason you have moved away from the original product?

We want to constantly innovate and improve our offering for our customers. Wordpress themes have become really powerful, but they seem to lack the ease of use that competitors like Wix and squarespace seem to offer. Wordpress now has REST API and we now have the technology to offer a superior page building experience with wordpress and that’s what motivated us to build TATSU. 2017 is coming soon and we feel its time to move our theme and wordpress forward. Its the same macro architecture of the old builder ( SECTIONS, ROWS, COLUMNS & MODULES ) and same set of options, just that your get to view your changes instantly and just like how it would look when the page is actually published. We think that’s amazing.

Love the update, it worked fine for 5 hours and then suddenly Tatsu says “unable to save” and then I’m dead in the water. Client session was in progress and out of nowhere Tatsu was “unable to save”, it ruined my work day. Please help those of us with this issue!

Apologies about the issues you are facing with tatsu! It’s really unfortunate that your client meet didn’t go well but kindly note that this is a server issue, this problem occurs only in sites powered by nginx server or with older php versions and we have already released a compatibility fix yesterday which addresses this issue! Kindly update to oshine 5.0.1 to get this sorted out! Apologies again for the trouble caused!

Love the new update, instructions were clear, and easy. Tatsu makes everything look like it will be much easier to work with! keep up the good work

I will note That Since the update what I’ve notices so far is:
    Price sheet module will not work adding video, will not let you change url. once you click the video begins playing Saving has been an issue. No work has been saved

I am really glad the instructions helped you have a smooth migration. With regard to the saving issue, kindly update the TATSU plugin to version 1.0.1 ( one click update directly from your wordpress dashboard ) and then clear your browsers cache and try again. We have already tested this in sites with saving issue, and have confirmed that the 1.0.1 updates resolves this. By the way, I am not even sure if the Pricing table module has a provision for setting up a video. Could you kindly confirm the exact name of the module you are referring to with some screenshots if possible so that we can investigate and fix the problem.

Hi Guys, It seems like if the user doesn’t have WP “Administrator” role, Tatsu doesn’t work. For example, if you clone the “Administrator” role without changing any permissions, you can’t edit the page with Tatsu anymore. If both roles have identical permissions, the user should be able to edit a page or post with Tatsu. Or at least the user with the “Editor” role should. Currently this is not possible. Could you check this out?

Apologies but tatsu doesn’t work with any roles other than ‘Administrator’ as of now! But kindly note that this is one of the high priority feature in our pipeline and you can expect it in the forecoming updates! But if you really want the users with “editor” role to edit pages with tatsu, kindly get write to help@brandexponents.com and we will give you a hotfix which you can use till we release the update!

Since updating to TASU, etc., I can’t remove the gradient overlay on the thumbnails. It is always the color scheme activated. If I set this to transparent my thumbnails in the gallery looking good, but a links, phone numbers, etc. are getting invisible :-)

Thanks for the offer :-) I can wait, helped myself out a bit. Just wanted to know when it will appear. I set it on transparent global, for the menu I can set it anyway different, so there I set them them black and as workaround for the text I set it using the stylesheet.css, color for the links to #00000 for used, unused and hover. So they are at least used and unused black and only disappearing while they been clicked.
