Just a quick one that im not sure if this is theme related.
Im looking to add an SSL Certificate to our site and spoken to the host who have confirmed it is active but i need to change links/URL’s of the image/css/js files to https:// and not http://
Is this something you can advise?

Hi,
In WordPress all the css/js and image URL’s should automatically use https if the site is setup correctly. The theme itself doesn’t add the protocol or even generate the URL’s this is done via core WP functions. After enabling your certificate you should go to Settings > Reading and make sure you setup your site URL’s to use HTTPS.
Support is for valid customers only though so please be sure to log in with the correct account used to purchase the theme in the future, thanks

Hi guys, I’m getting the ‘are you sure you want to do this error’ when trying to install the theme. I’ve disabled and deleted all plugins and themes. I’ve upped the php limit and reinstalled wordpress. The theme does not want to install. I’m running wordpress 4.8.2 and total theme 4.4.1 – any advice?

If you already increased your PHP memory limit and it’s still not working the only other 2 things that could cause the error are that you are trying to upload the incorrect file or you need to increase your upload_max_filesize.
I notice your support license has already expired which means you purchased the theme 6-12 months ago. If you are installing the theme for a new site please be sure to purchase a new license for the new domain, thanks

Is there a list somewhere of all the icons and fonts that come with this theme?

What do you need exactly? There are thousands of icons and fonts so having a list someone in a documentation file isn’t really that useful whereas you can just view them when setting your options in the theme. I’m just a bit confused as to why you need the list, if you can let me know maybe there is a better solution for your needs

I have today updated Total from 3.5.3 to 4.4.1. Most of the pages work well except the header comes up weirdly for the following pages:

I’m happy to help via the comments even with an expired support license but it’s actually showing that the theme was never purchased under your username “Petalos”. Can you please make sure to log in with the correct account you used to purchase the theme since support is for verified customers only (even without a support license, the extra support license is only required for private ticket submissions).

You don’t, just log in with the correct account That will display the “purchased” tag next to your username for verification. Even even if you can provide license details there is no way for me as a seller to verify them.

I am pretty sure the issue with the dropdowns is just because there are too many items in the menu, can you try removing a few to test?

Hi AJ, I’m looking to get some enhanced category description info to appear at the top of my shop categories (just a banner image with a bit of text really) and I’ve tried a couple of ways: plugin ‘SEO Category and Tag Descriptions for WooCommerce’ .. which seems ideal in that it gives a regular WYSIWYG editor field in the category edit area… (doesn’t work) I’ve also tried ‘WooCommerce Category Banner’ plugin to get a banner image to appear at the top of the category (also doen’t work). I know there is the existing description field there for simple text but do you know of a way I can get a banner image in there? I’m aware of the thumbnail image appearing as a banner function however I was looking for something a bit more editable – can you help? Cheers, Chris.

Just wanted to touch base with a comment from a few months back. It was about the header on mobile error when the orientation switched.

Only issue is the sticky nav error is happening on my site, and I made sure I had the latest update. Looks like this only happens when using a sticky nav.

Not sure what is going on but my mobile menu and menu search button don’t work. The mobile menu will not open no matter what setting I have it on. I updated the theme to the latest version. Did a plugin run down and turned off a few and tested it and still nothing. If I turn on debug I get this message ‘Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, function ‘my_sf_tweaks’ not found or invalid function name in /home/naplesrv/naplesmotorcoachresort.com/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php on line 298’ Not sure if that is the issue or not. I do use CloudFlare on the domain for extra security and to prevent spammers. It’s possible CloudFlare has blocked you. A common reason is using outdated insecure browsers, can you try in a different browser?
If your IP has been blocked though I can white list you, can you let me know your IP address?

I’m having a really strange and frustrating problem. On my one-page site, 5 of 8 of my menu links work perfectly. However, three of them take me to a page that displays my header and footer. I’m sure there is a simple solution – I just can’t seem to see it.

I decided to just open a new comment since this is probably a different issue than the one you helped me with yesterday.
Navigation elements for all carousel widgets are not showing. They are always disabled regardless of the settings used.

So lets say you set the carousel to display 3 posts but you only have 2 posts or 3 posts there won’t be any arrows. If you have 4 posts then they’ll show up. I think this is the issue you see.

hi. I install total theme. Everything is ok. Just one problem. some Recommended plugins is not in total zip. Layer slider and woo commerce is lost. How can ı get this. LayerSlider isn’t included because all of our demos use Slider Revolution and you don’t really need 2 sliders. What was happening was that customers were installing both sliders simply because they displayed as “recommended” which is unnecessary and just slows down the site. If you prefer LayerSlider over Slider Revolution you can download the full files from ThemeForest under your “downloads” and you can find it inside the plugins folder there.
WooCommerce is a free plugin so it’s not inside the theme. If you want to use it, simply go to Plugins > Add New and search for it. Or if you import a demo that uses WooCommerce via Theme Panel > Demo Import it will recommend that you install the plugin from there.
Make sure to enable the Visual Composer for your portfolio if it wasn’t auto enabled (usually it should unless there was some bug) – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/enable-disable-vc/

What options did you check when using the reset plugin.
It sounds like you may have reset all the site options so your custom widgets got deleted and you’ll either need to reset your site from a backup or go to Appearance > Widgets and re-add the custom widgets “Brand Archive” and “Product Category Archive”.

If you re-created the widget areas and re-added your content I don’t see any reason for it to not work. Unless your archive pages are showing full-width (no sidebar) because your layouts were reset.
What happens if you do echo at the bottom of your function before return $sidebar. Does it echo the correct sidebar on your site’s front-end?
It’s going to be tricky for me to assist without actually looking at the site and code. Did you want to renew your support license so you can open a private ticket and send me the logins to inspect the modifications for you? If not, is there any other useful information you can provide so I can assist you? Thanks!
By the way, since you are a developer if you prefer you can also register your sidebars via a filter as well – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/register-new-custom-sidebar/ – and disable the Custom Widgets function under Theme Panel to slim things down.
I would recommend also to highly add function_exist checks for both is_brand_archive_page and is_product_category this way if you ever have to disable WooCommerce or the brands addon for testing you won’t end up with a 500 error on the page.

Weird…it shouldn’t override but you can always just increase the priority of your filter to test like this:

More likely what I think is happening is that Total has a WooCommerce sidebar and that’s probably what’s overriding your sidebar. You can disable this at Customize > WooCommerce. Or like I said just incase the priority of your filter to make sure your’s always overrides

Edit: I see what you mean now by my code, because the meta does override any filter (as it should). So most likely the issue is with the WooCommerce sidebar, can you try changing the priority and let me know if that works?

Yes! It’s finally working changing the priority. Thanks for your help! I had enabled the custom woocommerce sidebar in the customizer but it was empty so the theme was loading the default sidebar. Thanks!

Whenever you use theme filters use at least a priority of 50 this will ensure it will override the theme always since the highest I try and use is 40.
I’ll make sure to start adding a priority to my snippets as well.

The function “wpex_post_series” doesn’t exist and isn’t used inside the theme so you could only have this error if someone manually added it to the theme or it’s inside a theme file that needs updating. Can you please double check your child theme files and/or any customizations made to the core theme?

So, the single.php file was actually removed like 2-3 years ago. Sounds like you updated via FTP/SFTP. If you update via FTP you need to make sure that you remove all files before uploading the new ones because sometimes theme files are removed and you can have these conflicts.
So simple delete the file from your server and it should be fine If you have other issues though you may want to do a re-installation to be safe.

Hi,
I can’t raise a support ticket I get this message – “Signup Error. Sorry, that email address is already used!” – so apologies for posting here.
I took your earlier advice in relation to restructuring the way the “Artists” and “New Paintings” pages work – using the Post Types Grid module – to speed up page loading time through pagination.
This has had a knock-on effect in the way users view individual “Artists” page Gallery (Portfolio) items. As an example, when you view http://urlgone.com/228385/ you can see her 4 Gallery/Portfolio items. When you click on a Gallery/Portfolio item to view a specific piece of art and then click on the next or previous links to view all 4 pieces within Helen Foster, it used to stop at the final item (or first – if you were travelling backwards).
The current situation is that the next & previous links are present on every page so you can traverse backwards/forwards through every Gallery/Portfolio item that has been created. This is not required by the client. Categories are the issue here methinks, as I had to restructure the way Gallery/Portfolio items were categorised so they would display correctly using Post Types Grid module.
Can you assist please, I’m hoping there is a straightforward solution. If you feel you need to raise a ticket or resolve the ticket issue I’m receiving, that would be great.

Hi,
This will happen if you changed your Envato username but you had previously signup for our support site. Can you let me know what your old username was and the first 4 digits of your email address used here on Envato so I can manually remove your account and you can re-signup?
Otherwise changing your Envato email address will allow you to register with a new account.
Regarding pagination…By default in the theme it will go to the next/previous item within the same category. But if your items are categorized into multiple categories then of course it’s going to keep traversing the posts, the only way you can have it perfectly setup is if each item is only located inside a singular category in this case the artist name “Helen Foster”.
There really isn’t any other way around it and the next/previous function is actually a core WordPress function so theme-wise there isn’t much you can do unless you create your own function to explicitly tell it which category to fetch from.
It is possible though that you simply disabled the function to loop within the same category, so please first check at Appearance > Customize > General Theme Options > Next & Prev > From Same Category

1. I tried the exact shortcode on my local site and it doesn’t have any issues. And looking at the code, the code is also correct. In case it’s an issue in an older version of the theme try replacing this file – https://cl.ly/nMo9 – at Total/framework/ – and see if it works
If you still have issues double check to make sure your quotes are correctly formatted like this:

Double check your spam box. Our email was sent out just fine – https://cl.ly/nOSo – the ticket system I use is called HelpScout, so it has nothing to do with your username on ThemeForest. however, the email is sent to the email you have saved on ThemeForest.
1. In a recent update I added the ability to enable a custom sidebar for the blog only under the Customizer > Blog settings.
2. There already is a built-in sidebar just for portfolio items. Double check that you didn’t disable it it via the post type editor settings – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/renaming-post-types/
3. The WordPress WP Category widget in “dropdown” is just a basic select. Selects are controlled by the browser not the website so there isn’t much you can do. If you have over 15 categories maybe using a select isn’t the best idea. Also in terms of SEO I wouldn’t ever recommend having that many categories but more importantly linking to all of them from every page.

- You can use a different sidebar for single posts then the archives (seems a bit confusing though) but it would be done using the filter you mentioned – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/alter-sidebar/
You can create a custom sidebar via Appearance > Widgets > Add New
Or manually using a filter: https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/register-new-custom-sidebar/
- I just don’t see the necessity to linking to all 15 categories from the sidebar or having 15 categories period. When you have too many categories for a blog you are creating more duplicate content (if posts are categorized under multiple categories) and adding more complexity to the site in terms of user-use.
In general though there isn’t any way to change the way that dropdown works. So if you do have 15 categories and want to add them to the sidebar maybe instead use the Tag Cloud widget to display them (you can select categories) as it may be a bit more user-friendly. Or organize your categories into parent-child’s (if possible) so that the category dropdown only displays like 5 options.
Another good solution maybe to add a secondary menu just for your blog with the categories on it – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/snippets/under-header-menu/

Hi, is there a way to have a shop page which is both full screen and a sidebar? In the Page Settings -> Content Layout there is either Sidebar or Fullscreen. I’d really like the shop pages to be full width like the rest of my site however I can’t seen to get it full width – with a sidebar. Cheers.

The full-screen layout doesn’t have a sidebar. If you want your site to be full-screen what you should do is set your main content layout to 100% (or use 98% so you have some padding on the sides) instead of the default 980px – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/customize-your-layout-widths/ – so all the pages of your site are consistent and you don’t have to manually edit each one.

Hi AJ, I’m redesigning my homepage and am wanting the recent news to show a small excerpt that I can control. I use the siteorigin editor widget for my blog posts and have added a “read more” tag to my blog post. I have used “9999” as my excerpt length in the recent news widget. It’s possible there is a conflict with siteorigin (I would highly recommend not using site origin and Visual Composer on the same site because they are both page builders can can conflict).
If you disable the plugin will it work?
But, if you want to really control the excerpt the best way is using custom excerpts – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/adding-custom-excerpts/ – this is ideal for SEO also.
