Why there is no readymade ARABIC Language .pot File? as i have seen in the list of languages arabic not there.
Hi,
all translations were contributed by clients basically volunteer work, I don’t speak Arabic so I cannot contribute there. If you’re curious, I’ve referenced all the people that provided translations in the theme’s page here: https://themeforest.net/item/udesign-responsive-wordpress-theme/253220

I have disabled Font Awesome through the theme settings, but the CSS stylesheet file is still being called in the <head>. Is there a way to prevent this?
that’s not necessarily theme related font awesome, many plugins use them as well, things like page builder and sliders, so you might want to check that as well.

Thank you very much.
Hi Andon,
Just a quick query…. Can the portfolio page support gifs? And if so can it provide moving thumbnails? If it can, it’s up there with the best gallery plugins there are, and I’m desperately looking for something with gif support but a multi filter ability like UDesign has!
Best regards
Martin
Hi Martin,
yes, you can use animated gifs with the theme’s portfolio, I just rested it out and the animation works fine in the preview but it won’t animate for the thumbnail image, I’m guessing this is because the thumbs are cropped, hence the original gif is being modified. But the preview will work fine.
I’m not sure about Essential Grid plugin which comes with the theme, you can check in their documentation, but I don’t see why it would not work for the preview.

Quick questions: just updated to 3.4.3 U-Design, latest Wordpress version, all went well. I have used Elementor in the past, but found it difficult to work with. IF I install it, will I then be forced to use it or will it be my choice? Also, we have a child theme, does that need to be updated as well? BTW PhP 7.3
All page builder plugins are optional. You don’t need to update the child theme, pretty much never, it’s always the parent theme that gets the updates. PHP 7.3 is perfect.
Cheers!
Thanks so much! Been using this theme on our site for years! Can not be beat
Great! Thank you
This theme don’t have a child theme?
yes it does. You can get it from here: https://dreamthemedesign.com/u-design-support/discussion/692/child-theme-for-u-design or the demo import wizard (Step 1 there).
Cheers!
thanks, that is ok, but this theme don’t support php 7.3?
Of course it does. All my demo sites are running on PHP 7.3

ok, thank you very much!
I have just taken over development of a customers site, they are currently at this version 2.10.6 installed. Update to version 3.4.3.They have indicated that they have not updated as they are worried about the change effecting the site look and layout. I am finding all sort of clashes with fonts etc so need them to update but need to know what the effect could be. the site link is http://rockondivas.com/
Hi,
it’s a big jump in versions but it should be fine. Make sure to do this first on a testing/staging version of the live site so you have a reference for everything as well as not stress out if you run into any issues. After you update the theme make sure to go to the “U-Design Settings” page and save it with all the new options.
For update instructions please refer to: https://dreamthemedesign.com/u-design-support/discussion/13/how-do-i-update-the-theme

Does this theme come with a page builder, if so which one
Hi,
yes it does, it offers WPBakery Page Builder as well as it’s compatible with Elementor. This particular demo has been built with Elementor plugin: https://udesigntheme.com/demos/yoga-el/

Hi i am like most of the layout of the home page of the business template but i am using the Ufarm for other parts of my site, can you tell me where i can get the code for https://udesigntheme.com/demos/business/ i thought you had a place where i could take sectors of code from the homepages that you had set up? Thanks
Hi, you can only import entire demos not individual pages from demos, it’s demos could differ from one another in terms of plugins and setup used. What you could do is install another test instance of WordPress either on your local computer or your live hosting and in there import any demo you want and take whatever page you want from that.

I’m looking to use this theme, which I’ve already purchased several years ago. I need a theme that supports an HTML5 canvas animation. Will this theme do that? The last comment I see on this is a few years old…
Hi,
I don’t see why not, the theme is already built with HTML 5 markup. You’d need to check if there are any specific requirements for HTML5 canvas animation but I’m pretty sure it will be fine.

Hi, I updated one of my sites to the most recent version of the theme and the shortcodes stopped working.
https://www.dwsmith.com/biographies/Hope you can help me out.
Nevermind, figured it out
Great, yes, all you had to do is install the U-Design Core plugin which now contains the theme’s shortcodes.
Cheers!
I love this theme – I’ve used it for a long time with no problem.
However I’ve now found a problem – my site works absolutely fine when in the vertical responsive layout, but when I turn the phone the phone 90 degrees to horizontal, the menus switch away from responsive mode and into PC format, which obviously doesn’t fit.
Clearly my support package expired long ago, and it will now cost £50 to ask for help for this, which seems way over the top.
Sorry for the gripe, it’s a great theme and I’d recommend it, barring this small issue.
Martin
Hi Martin,
I’ll see if I can help.
Try the following:
Under the Responsive Layout section, under the Responsive Menu, make sure to select Responsive Menu 2 and then check off the option under it called “Enable “Responsive Menu 2” starting at Breakpoint 1. ”.
Let me know if that is better now.

Andon,
Thank you so much, you’re a legend.
I wholeheartedly give this product 6 stars. It’s awesome in every way.
Thanks again!

Glad I could help.

Every single time there is an update UDESIGN loses all the sidebar widgets and I have to go back and replace them. This is unprofessional and has been happening for a very long time. I do not understand why this cannot be fixed.
Hi,
sounds like you’ve not been applying the proper method to update the theme, hence the issues. The issue of misplaced widgets will only happen if you activate another theme and then go back, this is actually a bug in WordPress not the theme. I’ve reported this bug to the WP core devs a couple of years ago and it’s not been fixed yet.
Anyhow, I’ll show you the proper way to do theme updates with single click once setup and you’ll never have that issue again. For that please follow the instructions here explaining how to install the “Envato Market” plugin: https://dreamthemedesign.com/u-design-support/discussion/32230/transition-to-doing-theme-updates-with-envato-market-plugin
Regards
Thank you. I still update all my themes the old way, manually. UDesign is the only theme that loses widget positions, so this is not just a wordpress issue. I will look at your instructions but likely will move to a different theme. I do not and will not use the Envato Market plugin on any of my websites for any theme. It is unnecessary, additional software that should never be required.
First of all let me make this clear. I did not come up with Envato Market plugin, ThemeForest did. Envato Market plugin is recommended by Envato (ThemeForest.net) company for its theme authors to use, I’m following their recommendations, it’s provided for that.
Regarding widgets being messed up upon switching themes, this is being caused by a bug in WordPress, I have prove for that, I have also raised a concern about it on Track (the platform where WP core team collaborates): https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/42719#ticket and this was a while a go and I can see it’s still not been fixed.
Run the test I describe there which BTW is not with U-Design theme but WP default themes and you’ll see that this has not been fixed yet. It’s one of those things that they’ve swept under the rug.
My workaround for this issue is to simply backup and then restore widgets. For that I’ve provided a Backup/Restore page under U-Design menu where you can export/import the theme settings and widgets as well. Use that page to create a backup before you do manual update. After you manually update the theme restore the widgets in their original state by simply using the restore feature on that page.
Of course if you’re using the Envato Market plugin you will never have that issue, this is because the theme is not being switched during the update process but rather deleted and uploaded on the spot during update which doesn’t involve theme switching, hence no issues.

I have taken over development of a site http://rockondivas.com/ the site has been problematic and it keeps loosing the custom font and the page setings. Please confirm what the issue could be.
Hi,
First of all the version of the U-Design theme currently in the site is 4 years old, from 2016. You desperately need to update the theme. Many things have changed. Do that and then let me know if you still have that issue.

Thanks for the advice I have asked my customer to find the purchase info from the previous developer so I can register with the support site, was just desperate to resolve while she finds the info.
You’re welcome. I understand!
I have been a themeforest.com customer for years. I bought many themes. Now I want to buy this theme. But I want to see the https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights tests. I would appreciate if you help. especially mobile tests
Hi,
In general it would be hard to make a WordPress site get Google’s Insight test score of 100%. WordPress sites that have heavy load from plugins like sliders and page builders will not do so well but you could always spend some time optimizing if you know what you’re doing. Or get a non-premium theme that barely have any features. So it’s a compromise, you want features, well…. then your site will run a bit heavier, it’s just how it is. There are ton of third party plugins and resources to help with optimizing a WP site.
I don’t usually go by Insights bench-marking my sites as Google is changing rules way too often. There are other metrics sites as well. Here’s the score I get on one of theme’s demo homepage that I have a plugin help with optimization but there’s more room for improvement: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdreamthemedesign.com%2Fthemes%2Fu-design&tab=mobile
And here’s the GTMatrix report on that same page: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/dreamthemedesign.com/0BtHY5U3
and Pingdom which is common as well: https://tools.pingdom.com/#5c58ffcae5800000
Also keep in mind that I’m not even using a CDN so some points are lost there, but you could always improve further if you decide to use a CDN.
An important Google metric would be whether the site is mobile friendly and my theme passes there just fine: https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly?id=zA0j9KSMw4DQgWVP-eDK5w

Trying to log in to support but saying we didn’t purchase, but we did, obviously, so odd. Just trying to figure out how to get logo to appear on mobile. I’ve tried putting logo in that is double dimension size i have as retina and still nothing showing.
Hi,
to be able to sign in properly in the support forum please click on the green button that says “Sign in with Envato” and follow the instructions: https://dreamthemedesign.com/u-design-support/
A quick answer to your question is you’ll find the logo for mobile under the theme’s “Responsive Layout” section under the theme’s Settings page.

Problems with udesign upgrade to 3.4.0.
I just attempted an upgrade from version 3.3.8 to 3.4.0, and got some serious problems.
Firstly, the Cycle 2 (image with text) slider on the homepage no longer works. I know this is an old style of slider, but I chose it with page speed/performance in mind. I tested this on a test copy of my website, where there is no caching plugin, and the server cache is disabled. So it’s not a caching problem.
The other issue I had was a fatal error related to the single.php file in my child theme. I’m not sure/can’t remember why I had that file in my child theme’s folder. It produced a fatal error on all subpages with message “There has been a critical error on your website. Learn more about debugging in WordPress”. I resolved that by renaming single.php in my child theme folder.
However, I had to restore from backup to reactivate version 3.8.8, as I’m not prepared at this point in time to do without my Cycle 2 slider on the homepage.
Sorry but my support license has expired. I just thought to let you know of my difficulties in case it helps you with future upgrades.
Hi,
your issues are related most likely to the files you have in the child theme. I did do some code clean up in that last release so in that I had to rename some functions, make sure to compare the PHP functions you have in your version of single.php in the child theme with that that in the parent theme. If you’re not sure why you have that file you can remove it and see what’s been changed in your single view page. Maybe you don’t need it.
As for Cycle 2, it should work fine after this update unless you did some customizations that got wiped out, not sure. I did update all my demo site, and in a couple of still have all the Cycle sliders and they are working fine, I can show you if you’d like.
Try the update again just review carefully what files you have in the child theme overwriting the parent theme.
Regards
Hi @AndonDesign. Thanks so much for going to the trouble of replying. It was single.php in my child theme that was causing the critical WordPress error on subpages. I also had a header.php in the child theme, and that was causing the Cycle 2 slider to fail. Thanks to your suggestion, I have been able to proceed with the upgrade and fix the problems by removing those 2 files in my child theme.
I will have to comb through them looking for any custom code that I might have entered. (A good reason to always add comments when editing code so that it’s easy to find your changes!)
Sadly, my client using this theme has been drastically affected in his business by the CoronaVirus … virtually all his business has dried up. So sad to see.
Glad you were able to sorted it, Too bad for your client, hopefully they’ll be able to come back stronger once this is over!
Cheers!
Can you please update directions for generating an API key? Envato/ThemeForest no longer displays the “API Keys” from the “Settings” panel. They now have a “Create a Token” page (https://build.envato.com/create-token/) but there is no current information in the theme’s updating options page concerning which permissions are required for proper function.
(For reference: I’m trying to help an end-client troubleshoot a PHP error on their site. They’re using a legitimately licensed U-Design theme. I am unable to access your support forum because I didn’t purchase the theme. I’m trying to walk them through generating the API so we can update the theme – and buy additional support/updates if necessary – but we’re stuck at this step. Thanks.)
Hi,
I’ll need to check on that, meanwhile feel free to email me directly to help you out with the issue your client is having. You can send me an email through my Profile page.

OK, I checked and nothing has changed for the theme. For theme update options and instructions please refer to the ‘U-Design -> Theme Update’ page in your WordPress admin area. For the support forum you can authenticate or in your case your client can authenticate with SSO by clicking the green button “Sign in with Envato”: https://dreamthemedesign.com/u-design-support/

You could also install or update the theme via the Envato Market plugin which can be downloaded from https://envato.com/market-plugin/.

Dude, your updated files has an error at page-Portfolio2ColSortable.php:172
It used to work, and after update it failed to load, There is an error saying this “Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function get_portfolio_item_thumbnail()”
Hi,
that function has been renamed to udesign_get_portfolio_item_thumbnail() so make sure when you update your theme all files are being refreshed in that, or you might get an error if a non existent function like you have.
Regards
it works for portfolio 1 pagesortable and portfolio 3 sortable, only portfolio 2 sortable has an error
Did you check the “page-Portfolio2ColSortable.php” file to make sure the function is named correctly? Also, check your child theme if you’re using one that you’re not overwriting that page template in there which could mean that it has outdated code now, so make sure to update the name of that function there as well.
Regards
oh yes, you are right, I have to update older version of child theme, thank you so much, Andon! superb!
You’re welcome!
Cheers!
Andon
Updated to the latest version of U-Design. I am now being forced to see the “option” to install the Elementor Page Builder plugin. I have clicked the X, I have clicked Dismiss – but the message keeps coming back. I will NEVER install that plugin.
I really don’t want to force my way to hide this notice, as it’s useful on future updates to let me know the Core needs to be updated. I really hope this is fixed in the future. I can’t stand when authors FORCE this message on the screen.
Hi,
The issue with dismissing the notice is related to caching, you most likely have some caching plugin which is not helping in this case. Make sure to purge the cache of that plugin or disable it then try again.
Of course, this plugin as the other page builder plugins are optional, you don’t have to install them. I’m just providing more options to members to build their website.
For future reference please post any support related questions to the theme’s support forum where our support specialists can help you out.
For your convenience, the direct link to the forums is: U-Design Support.
Regards
No caching plugin used. Cache in browser cleared.
I completely understand the notice and agree you should have it to let users know it’s now an available option. However, it seems that like so many other themes, you have chosen to go down the path where the user cannot dismiss the notice if they choose not install the plugin. This isn’t an uncommon problem. There are even plugins to remove these notices. But again, I don’t want to remove these notices overall – as I would need to know if other plugins needed to be updated.
I am now in a position of carefully considering do I move my client to a new theme just so I don’t have to put up with a forced message box that I can’t get rid of being shown at the top of every WP admin page.
I can’t post on the support forum since our support has expired and generally the theme has been outstanding and not needing support. I wanted to post this here so that others knew going in what they can now expect.
I assure you it’s not the case that I deliberately force this notice again after being dismissed. I know how I coded it precisely. The way it’s coded is that if you dismiss the notice it should go away (persistently) until the you re-activate the theme or there is an update in which case the notice lets the administrator know that there are updates to the related plugins.
If you still see the notice after you dismissed it this is 100% caching issue with your site, nothing I can do about it. I think I’ve had similar issues reported in the past that were associated with particular caching plugins, I think it was WP Rocket.
I also don’t have any incentive or interest to annoy my customers with notices that aren’t dismissable. Not sure why other theme authors would do it. I don’t get paid by these plugins for endorsing, etc. so what you’re saying is undergrounded in the case of my theme. It’s pure and simple a glitch with caching.
Regards
Thank you for taking the time to respond and I realize this is not a support forum so I will just finish with this: I assure you it’s not related to caching as I have no caching plugins installed and all caching at the host is turned off. I have gone as far as duplicating the site into a development environment and deactivated ALL plugins. The notice that appears from U-Design now also complains of other plugins needing to be activated (obviously) and again – I am not able to dismiss the notice and have it stay dismissed, it comes back on new page load. I can install the required plugins and still, the noticed won’t stay dismissed.
This is with the latest Wordpress version and the latest U-Design using a child theme. I’ve even switched this dev setup to use the parent theme and it still occurs.
Appreciate the help considering the support is expired. We’ll have to live with this for now and evaluate our options moving forward. After using this theme since 2016 this is the first time this problem has occurred.
I need to further investigate, please email me Admin access to your WordPress site (you could create an account for me just make sure to make me an administrator). You can send me an email through my Profile page.
Regards
The issue has been resolved.
For anyone else experiencing this please try the following:
1. Go to U-Design Settings page and simply Save the page.
2. Dismiss the notice by clicking the “Dismiss this notice” link located near the bottom of the notice.
Now the notice should be dismissed and should stay away until the next time the theme has been updated to a newer version.
I hope this helps.
Andon
I’d like to thank Andon for taking the time to look into this issue. He was able to see the issue and find a solution.
For anyone else seeing this issue – simply hit save on the U-Design Settings page and then you can dismiss the notice successfully.
I greatly appreciate him taking the time to investigate and I realize now that he definitely did not force this setting as I previously said.
Anytime fpalmerino, glad i could help out!
Best!
Andon
