Hello, optimized theme for core web vitals?

Hello, @MarceloTech,

I am sorry but do not understand what you want to ask, please explain.

Regards Andon-Design

Hi, I was referring to whether the landing page could be imported. https://d-themes.com/wordpress/udesign/landing/

Hello, @MarceloTech,

No, Sorry to say that but you can not Import our Demo landing page. You can only Import the Pre Built Demos of the theme.

Regards Andon-Design.

So I set up a test site to check how migration to the new theme would work. I have managed to keep my WPBakery settings, so that part is fine. But what is awful is the fact that header of the site entirely disappears and has to be rebuilt. Every site I have used your theme to build now over the last 11 years has to have its totally customized header completely redone. How is this logical? Nothing maps over at all. This is going to cause hours of work, even if I were switching to Elementor. I wasn’t using WPBakery for the headers – I was using your logo upload, your CSS selectors, your secondary menu… and it’s all gone! Those were all completely custom built to VERY exacting client demands. I can’t see how this made any sense to you to do. So frustrated right now. I don’t know how to go back to clients and tell them I have to do this. For people building a brand new site, sure, I’m sure it’s great! But for your existing customers with sites already built, you’ve created a horrendous headache. I’m just speechless with the hours and hours of work ahead of me.

I noticed in the changeling it says removed all demos built with WPBakery, does this mean if I buy this theme I have to use Elementor? Or can I download the WPbakery files somewhere and install those demos still?

Hello, @critterpixel,

No, you cannot download the WP Bakery and install those demos. You have to use Elementor then you will be able to import demo data and modify the content as per your need.

Regards Andon-Design.

I’m trying to understand based on other comments but can’t quite tell what you’re saying. I have used this theme for 10 years, exclusively with WPBakery because I (and most of my clients) cannot stand Elementor. It’s clunky and makes everything run slowly. So everything has been built on WPBakery. Are you saying that if I upgrade the theme at this point, WPBakery will NOT work at all? Or are you just saying that it’s no longer included with or supported by your theme, so I will have to purchase & license it myself if I want to use it? I don’t care about buying it and using it separately from your theme. I just want to know if it will WORK if I do that. Otherwise I am looking at having to go to SO many clients and explain why I can’t update their websites anymore without having to completely rebuild them. This is a nightmare if that’s the case. PLEASE tell me the theme will still work with WPBakery if I license it myself??? This is like catastrophic and I had NO warning. Awful decision to just pre-emptively think people prefer Elementor. It’s horrible. Worse than Gutenberg. UGH.

Hello, @sarahfullcycle,

Regarding the WP Bakery the thing is as you know it is no more compatible with our theme but by means, no more compatible is if you face any issue while using this plugin you have to fix it on your own. It maybe works fine or just some of the elements of WP Bakery will not work for this you can purchase the PRO version of this plugin so that you have support from the WP Bakery plugin Author and when you face any issue with it you can contact them to fix it. WP Bakery plugin is now like the third-party plugin for our theme and we cannot provide third-party plugin support I hope it makes sense to you.

Regards Andon-Design.

Ok, that makes sense. I understand – I’m going to set up a test backup of one of my sites and do the upgrade & make a conversion to the paid Pro license for WPBakery and see how it goes. Over time, I might transition to something else, but for now, I cannot just undo all the WPBakery builds that I have done. In the future, if you are going to do something like this that dramatically impacts the way most people used your theme to build a site, you might want to make a specific guide just for their options regarding updating. You might still want to do that. I tried to go to the support forum I have used for years (very informative) but it wasn’t working yesterday. Hopefully that is resolved. That would be a great place to put a guide about what options are regarding WPBakery now. The comments here seemed contradictory and not very clear. After I know what my experience will be, I am happy to circle back and let other users better understand what will happen if they want to keep WPBakery and how much effort is involved in updating that way. Thank you.

Hello, @sarahfullcycle,

Thanks for understanding. Regarding the support forum the thing is the old forum is not more available there is now new forum where our expert support team available to help our customers by solving their issues. I have been a proud user of uDesign for years with more than 24 purchased seats and hopes to build four more sites in the next couple of months. It may not seem like a lot of sites to you, but it is to me. This latest update being incompatible with Page Builder will literally break every site we have developed. I am extremely disappointed to see you all go in this direction and forsake the customers that got you where you are. If I must rebuild my sites, it will likely be with a different theme altogether.

Hello, @ibeque,

Regarding WP Bakery working with the latest theme version, there is some issue and I am very sorry for that I know it mentioned on our official site that WP Bakery is supported but in the recent update we removed WP Bakery from our supported plugins list and we missed those tags on theme forest and we will remove those soon. So I apologize for this confusion.

Now if you manually use WP Bakery then it is not going to change anything because theme pages will not customize with WP Bakery anymore.

So now if you want to use WP Bakery then ask your hosting provider to restore your old backup and after that do not update the theme because you can’t update your old site without any conflict. We replaced all codes of the original UDesign theme. It is impossible to compatible with old versions.

Or if you want to update then simply create your site from scratch with the Elementor plugin.

Regards Andon-Design.

Hi, is there any info on adding google recaptcha to this theme 4.0, tired v3 and v2, nothing showing on frontend, I am using Simple Google reCAPTCHA plugin. thanks Tom

Hello, @tommyt,

What issue you are facing with it? Can you please share the screenshot of your issue with me so that I’ll check and help you out accordingly?

Regards Andon-Design.

sorry all sorted, found where to enter on the WPForms

Sound\s Good!!

I am very disappointed with the sudden page builder update, we’ve built 4 websites using uDesign and now if we try to update them, every single one of them breaks and days of work are required to rebuild headers, footers, blogs, etc. I don’t know how you could make such a huge transition without any warning to your massive install base. Seems like zero consideration was given to the tens of thousands of people who have supported you by paying for and using your theme to this point. You should have for at least a transitionary period had an update available for everyone who is using WPBakery, giving them plenty of forewarning that the old theme is phasing out. Now I have blogs that are broken on the old sites, forcing me to update the theme – but the new theme breaks the entire site….WHAT A MESS!

Hello, @tamras1030,

The old version of the theme has week basis and nowadays the technologies are too updated. The programming languages coding standards were also updated. So if we create a new theme then the old one will no more works in the coming few months based on the technologies updates faster and faster. So all of our customers will lose their sites just because of our old version of the theme. So in this scenario, we update our theme so that it will be compatible with the working and coming technologies on the website. So that our customers will be able to use the theme till they want to. This was the only way we have. I hope you understand.

Regards Andon-Design.

I’ve loved using udesign, I built my site from scratch 2 years ago and have always found the support through their forum realy good, and Andon realy responsive. This massive update in theme is not compatable with my WP bakery built site.. and I dont understand the zen desk help ticket system. it is virtually a completely different theme. I’ve just signed up for 6 months support… but Im not sure it will help me. I’m currently using my time off to try and learn elementor… and I dont have confidence this theme will be well supported going forward. Some warning would have been nice….

Updating from 3.4.18 (where all was good) to 4.1 broke my site. All WP files and plugins were updated before changing the theme, the same for meeting the requirements. After updating the theme I got a bad surprise; the homepage disappeared (I found out it got set as a draft) and so the site got forced to a blog-style homepage. The WHOLE header disappeared too and was replaced by a Udesign logo; so our logo, navigation, WPML switcher are all gone, even the footer! I did exactly as described in the author upgrade guide. Very not happy! The new version seems to push us a lot towards using building blocks and templates in it.

Hello, @polarmedia,

We are really sorry that you are facing the issue with our theme. Can you please contact us via our support forum so that our customer support team member will help you to fix your issues.

Regards Andon-Design.

Hello – Do you actually offer support via the new support forum? I signed up and it appears to be out of the box zendesk with Udesign wrapping. There are no threads on there pertaining to Udesign. I’ve used this theme for 10+ years and love it, but somehow I missed the info about 4.0 coming and it has been a mess trying to find out how to go about updating my clients’ sites. This comments section here has provided more info than I have found through the new documentation, but some of the suggestions seem like quite the workaround. I, too, tried updating one site already and ended up with an almost blank site that I had to restore from backup. I love udesign, but disappointed in this rollout.

Hello, @BoundlessJen,

Yes, The new support forum offer supports to our customers and our customers are already getting helping there.

To update the theme please follow the below steps carefully.

Here is the recommended way of Automatic update from us:

1. Take the complete backup of your site before updating the Theme for avoiding any inconvenience.
2. Deactivate all the third-party plugins before updating the Theme.
3. Take a Backup of your Custom Code and remove it from the site before an update of the Theme.
4. If you are using a Child Theme then Activate the Parent-Theme before updating the Theme.
5. Remove all the cache from your server, site and finally check back your site after removing the browser cache and check deeply what are the changes that occur on your site after that...
6. After that go to Appearance >> Themes and update the Theme One-Click automatically from there.
7. After that go to Appearance >> Install Plugins and update the Theme required/recommended plugins from there one by one.
8. After that check back your site after removing the browser cache and check deeply what are changes occur on your site after that and if all goes well then.
9. You have to again Activate the Child Theme.
10. Again activate all the third-party plugins one by one.

Finally, check back your site after removing the browser cache.

Regards Andon-Design.

The latest update has completely destroyed the whole structure of my site. I’ve been using this theme for years, but now it appears I have to re-build the entire structure from scratch if I’m to use the latest version of Udesign. Temporarily, I’ve restored a backup to use the older version of the theme. Are there special steps I should take to both update the theme AND keep the old structure?

Hello, @tmelon,

Here is the recommended way of Automatic update from us:

1. Take the complete backup of your site before updating the Theme for avoiding any inconvenience.

Note: If you are using the WP Bakery plugin to build your site then it will not works well because the WP Bakery plugin is no more compatible with the theme.

Andon: FYI. On the main description page for this theme, it says it is Not Gutenberg Optimized. Yet, the changelog has referred to fixing issues with Gutenberg compatibility and optimization.

Is the theme description incorrect about not being “Gutenberg Optimized”, should that say “Yes” ?

Thanks

Hello, @FWD2090,

Sorry for the inconviniance, this is our mistake and we will change it asap in the main description.

Hello, I have a problem with the template uDesign after installation.

As soon as I click on “activate” an error appears: “This theme failed to load properly and was paused within the admin backend.”. It says: Damaged template. The following templates are installed but are incomplete.

Where is the problem? Support can’t help me.

Thank you, Martin

Hello, @vsecha,

Upgrading to 4.0 totally break our site, could you send 3.4.18 version files?

Hello, @lcallander,

Sorry to say that but this is not possible, you can only download the very latest version of the theme from Envato.

Regards Andon-Design.

Hi, when I enter in my google analytics code (gtag.js) in “Custom CSS & JS ” i get a warning that it cannot save it because of an invalid setting, it also shows the following “There are 34 errors which must be fixed before you can save. Update anyway, even though it might break your site?”

what am i doing wrong? Cant find any info on adding google analytics in documentation THanks T

Hello, @tommyt,

You have to set the Google Analytics code in the header.php file in the “head” section. The code will not work in the “Custom CSS & JS” please try to add the code in the header.php file and then check back your site I hope you will never face any issue.

Regards Andon-Design.

thanks for that , i have added it into the parent’s header, is there a way to do this to via the child theme so I dont loose when updating? apprecaite any info as I know this is not specific to the theme ;-)

Hello, @tommyt,

Actually, Yes you can add the code in the child theme using a function. To know how to do it here is an article: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/adding-google-analytics-to-functions-php/ I hope it helps.

Regards Andon-Design.
