1/ Yes, the download package already includes the child theme file, so you can use it if you want. However, using either the parent theme or child theme won’t cause your site to lose settings after updating the theme. If you don’t need to override files within the parent theme, simply using the parent theme is sufficient. Updates won’t affect your site’s settings, regardless of whether you’re using the child theme or parent theme.
2/ Certainly, you can display descriptions (text and pictures) in categories and tags for SEO promotion.

I understand but my support has expired and as of now I only need this solution. Also I found a bug in the portfolio section. When we create any new project under portfolio > Portfolio Description doesn’t respect the wysiwyg editor and only accepts plain text. All codes get displayed on page if added there via wysiwyg editor.
