Hi there, we recently updated our MasterStudy theme, probably doing quite a big step, now on the latest version 4.8.89.
A few things changed (the logo disappeared, the footer column count changed, the copyright-footer set back to default). Those are not a big deal, I’m certain we could change them through the theme options, but sadly the theme options don’t open: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=stm_option_options leads to 403, “Du bist leider nicht berechtigt, auf diese Seite zuzugreifen.” while being admin of the page.
Also, the “Plugins” tab /wp-admin/admin.php?page=stm-admin-plugins does not show the plugins but asks to import demo content first. We don’t want to import any demo content overwriting the existing content though. The website has been up with the theme for several years already.
Do you have an idea how to tell the theme that the site is already set up so we can access the theme options and plugins again?

It looks like the theme update may have reset some settings or permissions.
Please make sure that your theme and plugins are updated to their latest versions. Try resetting permalinks by going to Settings > Permalinks and clicking Save Changes without modifying anything.
Additionally, since you’re getting a 403 error, check the file permissions via FTP or cPanel to ensure that the /wp-content/themes/masterstudy/ folder is set to 755 and the files inside are 644.
Another potential fix is to temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme (e.g., Twenty Twenty-Four), then reactivate MasterStudy to reset any inconsistencies. If the issue persists, enable debugging by adding the following lines to your wp-config.php file:
define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);
@ini_set('display_errors', 0);
This will create a log file in /wp-content/debug.log, where you can check for specific errors that might be causing the problem.

Thank you. I made a copy of the website to test there. Permalinks did not help, file permissions were correct (settings them all again did not help). Then I switched to Twenty Twenty-Five and back, that got me the pop-up of missing plugins & plugin updates. I updated and activated the plugin “STM Configurations” and everything works again!
Don’t know why the plugin was installed, but not activated. Seems like it used to work without at some point. Because I did not want to change the theme on the live website, I managed to remove the pop-over on the plugins settings screen via CSS/ console to update the STM Configurations plugin through the MasterStudy dashboard. After activating the plugin, I could access the settings again. The plugins screen is still blocked by the pop-over though, asking to “Select a Demo for import first”.
I found the way via “Design” -> “Install plugins” though, to update/ install them: /wp-admin/themes.php?page=tgmpa-install-plugins, should do as a workaround for now.

When working on translating some texts using the Loco Translate plugin, I am unable to access their root for editing, especially those texts found in the course settings window. How can I access these roots, even though I have opened the Advanced Plugin and Theme sections and didn’t find anything?

Hello, I have to start a new project and the course provider gives me the courses in SCORM format. I have performed tests on the test domain that I have with a course, it uploads it well… but when I access as a user and try to access the course I get this error:
LMS not compatible with SCORM This LMS is not 100% compatible with SCORM as it cannot retrieve the user ID and name, so it is not possible to count the consumed licenses.
Please contact the Administrator of this LMS to check the compatibility with SCORM.
The LMS must allow reading the following SCORM variables: cmi.core.student_id cmi.core.student_name
Can this be solved or does the LMS not provide these variables?

I just want to notify you about a security vulnerability that I noticed in the Edit with course builder option -> Curriculum option -> Text lesson -> In the text editor option, the insert/edit media option is given. This is not secured, as an instructor; if someone adds media, e.g., a private YouTube link or any other secure link, it exposes this link with a right click of the mouse, as you already have the option to add a video lesson that runs via the secured Masterstudy player, so in the text editor, add media option should be removed or secured, same with add image.
Otherwise, anyone can copy this link and share it with everyone. I am sharing the screenshot for more understanding.

2. When we enable reCAPTCHA in theme settings, will it be enabled on the login page? I am using Classic LMS 2 demo import. It’s very important, as every day many website user login account is getting hacked. Also, if you can test the login page to make it compatible with WP2FA or the LoginPress 2FA plugin, it will be really good, as it’s a course marketplace, and as a website owner, it’s very important to protect instructor course data; if it gets hacked, the whole website’s reputation goes to zero and also faces legal issues if sued by the instructor due to losses. Please add extra security on login pages. Very important and humble request.

Regarding your reCAPTCHA query, it works on the login/registration page. You can find the settings in LMS Settings > Google. As for the related 2FA issue, we’re working on it, and it will be released in the future.

We have default MasterStudy LMS roles (Admin, Instructor, Subscriber), setting the “New User Default Role” to Subscriber is generally the best option. This role is the most basic and restricts users to viewing content without having the ability to add courses or modify content.
Once users are registered, you can manually assign them the Instructor role if they need to create courses or the Admin role if they need full control over the site.

When there’s only a quiz available in a course, upon finishing the quiz, the results do not immediately appear. Instead, the quiz page reloads, and the start quiz button appears again. If I manually refresh the page, it then shows that the quiz is complete, indicating that refreshing is necessary to see completion. Users may not realize they need to refresh the page to see their quiz as completed and may attempt to retake the quiz unnecessarily.
In the last update, you improved the courses page by setting a default course page to avoid such conflicts, and you also did the same for the checkout page to prevent conflicts. I noticed this on the LMS page settings. You should do the same for the quiz and assignment pages in the next update by creating default pages for both and graying them out to avoid any conflicts.
I hope you’ll relay my observations to the developers so that all quiz and assignment issues related to conflicts, possibly with plugins, can be resolved. I believe this is the only solution.

Hi, I purchased the theme a while ago and I can’t import Udemy courses that are priced “Free”. That means I can’t search for the course names that are released for free by Udemy, only the paid courses show up. Did you figure this out?
