I recently bought this theme and like a lot of other purchasers I wanted to sort the categories on the Home page by category and not by date. The answer is to edit home.php and go to line 44 – where it says ‘orderby’ => ‘name’, change name to slug so that it reads ‘orderby’ => ‘slug’,
That worked for me.

Is there a way to make the search only search a particular category? Any direction on this would be appreciated.
For users who only need knowledge base information from a particular category I would like to make them a custom search page, that only searches, and gives instant search recommendations (drop down choices) for that category.

Quick question about side bar – looking at this page: http://demo.herothemes.com/knowhow/how-do-i-contact-legal/
On the right side we have a side bar that displays Categories/Popular Articles/Latest Articles. Is it possible to also display articles of the same category of the article you are looking at? So looking at this http://demo.herothemes.com/knowhow/how-do-i-contact-legal/ , the right side bar would have a section that would display ‘Other Copyright & Legal Articles’ section and list the articles in that category. Is it possible to do it in this theme?

I have a request…As you know our version of your knowhow-theme is highly edited. So we always have to bug-fix after installing. It would be great if you could somehow indicate, which files were changed in a version update, or maybe just have a list of what you changed, which you could publish online…there’s no need for detailed description, just maybe a more or less understandable keyword and where about the changes can be found…e.g. searchbar -> header.php
Just to make sure that we don’t miss anything important…

We would recommend using a file diff to compare the parent theme to your child theme. This way you can track the exact code changes version to version.

Unfortunately there isn’t any option in the theme to do this (I’ll look into this), but there are plugins to mass edit custom fields which could help you: https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-field-bulk-editor/

With KnowHow, the knowledge base uses the WordPress posts for the knowledge base articles so unfortunately you can’t have a separate news section.
Our other knowledge base themes, Support Desk and HelpGuru are able to have a separate news section though.

well in case anyone is interested, we were able to fix it without too much hassle … use wordpress post_class filter to remove hentry from post_classes, then add a div with class=”hentry” around the whole content with entry-title, author vcard/fn (you’ll need to add it) and date updated published (again add it) without any css-troubles:) It may not be a very nice way, but it works…the other way may involve quite some css editing…because <article> would have to be repositioned in single.php e.g. etc.

Hi, can you please help me? I added a few posts in WP’s “FAQs” section and not via “Articles”. I can see these posts, but when searching it I see in the search bar’s results a question mark (?) icon on the left of the post’s title. In the search results page I see an empty squere above the post’s title.

Probably a howto by I can’t find how to reorder items in a category. I created several articles one after the other and I created by the article named Introduction. This post appears as the last entry and I would like it to be at the top of the articles.
