Is Google Anayltics site search described at http://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1012264 compatible with this theme, so we are able to track what people are searching?
If you’re using the POST method, it will work with the standard search (type in your query and hit enter), but I don’t think it will work with the live search. I haven’t tested this so I could be wrong.
Thanks
Hi – Thinking about buying the theme. Does it have a print css stylesheet? And any plugins you recommend for displaying code that work well with your theme?
Thanks -Phil
Hey there,
There’s no print CSS stylesheet. For displaying code this plugin is great: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/syntaxhighlighter/ (Wordpress.com uses it)
Thanks
Hi Chris,
Bought the theme a week or so ago and love it !! One quick question though – any thoughts / ideas on how to make ‘private’ or ‘internal’ articles (only available to logged in users, not visible to everyone)
Thanks .. Ken
Hey there,
You may need to look into a plugin for that. WordPress has the ability to create password protected posts but not logged in only. Chances are there’s a plugin that could do this for you.
Thanks
I have been running the knowhow theme for a few months now and absolutely love it – thanks for such a great theme.
I have a question regarding a customization I would like to make – I hope you have an idea on how I can make it. In the blog comments – rather than having user names linked to a user provided URL – I would like to have the user name link to a new “author profile” page.
I have found a few solutions for other other themes – but I don’t believe they will work with knowhow as I cannot find the code mentioned in functions.php.
Here is one of the posts that offers a solution. Chris – do you have any thoughts on how to accomplish this with the KnowHow theme? Thanks!
http://www.jrnielsen.com/link-comment-author-to-author-page-in-wordpress/Hey there,
The file you’re looking for is /framework/comment-functions.php. This is where you’ll be able to modify the link of the comment author.
What you’re looking at doing is possible but I would suggest talking to a freelancer if you’re unsure about how to implement them.
Thanks
Hi, I had a question about translation the them but nevermind now eheh.
Very happy with the theme, congratulations
Thanks
Great stuff, glad you’re enjoying the theme! Have a great day
I bought the theme with “yannml” accound, but I dont know why a can’t receive my password back.
Hey there,
The shortcode code is:
[alert style="info" title="Important"]Please do not use this form for pre-sale questions or support requests. This is an example form and doesn't get sent.[/alert]
Thanks
Hello,
How did you do the box in the contact form of the live preview ?
“Important – Please do not use this form for pre-sale questions or support requests. This is an example form and doesn’t get sent.”
Thank you
Hey there,
It’s the info box shortcode. Just press the green + in the editor to bring up the shortcodes and you can insert them into your posts/pages.
Thanks
I can’t find the same shotecode that you are using on the contact page preview.
It’s a alert box, but with a title in the left corner
“st-alert st-alert-info with_title”
Hey there,
You don’t have a purchased badge. To get support please contact me from the account you purchased the theme.
Thanks
Does it have ticket system?
It doesn’t, thanks
Does the top navigation support drop down’s? If so, how many nested levels does it support?
Hey there,
It does, and will support any reasonable number of nested levels (I just tested 5 no problem).
Thanks
Hi Chris I have just a few questions for you before I buy your theme to a customer. They require some changes before they want it.
1) Can “Article Categories” (located on the frontpage of the demo), also be on a sub-page? So both on the frontpage and under another page as for example “Can I Change My Username?” (In the demo) at the same time?.
2) Is it possible to display more than just the five of links in for example “Account Settings” in the Article Categories (in the demo frontpage).
3) Is it possible to remove Knowledge Base Categories and Popular Articles widgets from the frontpage? But they still are on the subpages? – And then use the entire space to Article Categories?
and the last thing, but very importen for my client
4) Is it possible to change folder icon (which is on the demo frontpage) to different icons depending on what they want? They want various icons. One icon to Account Settings, an icon for API Questions etc.
Sorry for my bad english. I hope you did understand my questions.
Thanks
Michael
PS. Very cool theme
Hey Michael,
1) Don’t know what you mean here.
2) You’ll need to edit the homepage template.
3) It would be straight forward to edit the homepage to be fullwidth (A simple template edit)
4) You’ll need to use some custom CSS to achieve that.
Thanks
Hi Chris. Thanks for all the answer. What I mean by Question 1 is :o): On your frontpage: “Article Categories” is located. Can I place it on both on my frontpage and under a subpage. So it’s two different places at once. (My client would like to have the link-structure on the front and when they click on a link, then they come to a new page with the same link-structure)
And a second question: Is the theme child-ready?
Thanks for all your help
Michael
Hey Michael,
You’ll need to do this yourself. It’s not a standard feature of the theme.
Customers have created child themes with this theme with no problem.
Thanks
So it’s not made ??as Custom Post Types? It should not have the same content.
I still don’t really understand your question?
Is this theme compatible with Multisite ? as I can’t add new Faq and what I see is the demo post of another Site… And when I check the DB there are my test posts… but it seems the queries are made to a wrong table… Thanx for help…
The theme works with Mulisite no problem (the demo and my dev setup are using a multisite setup of WP). Email me via my profile with your admin details and I’ll take a look to see what’s going on for you.
Thanks
For some reason My post was duplicated so ignore this message – sorry!
@pharmacybiz take out header.php from the theme root? just rename it and see what happens. Take out code from header.php that you dont need and keep the formatting code in place? Just a guess I haven’t tested it.
Hello
I have a strange request – Is the a way to totally remove the header?
I am using your theme within a frame and need to remove the entire header.
Cheers Ken
Hey Ken,
You’ll need to edit the header template but I would reccomend hiring a freelancer if your not sure what you’re doing.
Thanks
Is there an easy way to make the template not the homepage? so the current index becomes knowledgebase.php in order for me to make a new homepage. Your script will be the entire backend of the website which will be restricted access. The homepage and a few subpages are needed to advertise features and allow registration/login.
Thanks, Michael
Hey Michael,
I would talk to a WP freelancer/consultant to find out the best way to do this. It’s difficult to give any guidance without specific details.
Thanks
No worries Chris! I think it would be great if you included this asa potential option in your theme though as it would increase the theme practicality and potentially sales (though you’re not struggling there!)
Just one other thing – the folder icons for categories; where are they set?
Not to worry – found it
thanks!
The folder icons are set in the CSS, you’ll need to use some Custom CSS in the theme option to override them. If you’re planning extensive customization it’s best to use a Child Theme.
Thanks
Hi !
Graet theme really !
Just a suggestion for an update :
- The theme should be able to handle Multi-level categories more than 2 levels.
On home page all categories in the sidebar are shown and inside a category, we don’t retrieve the sublevels when it’s more than 2 levels.
Anyway good job !
Hey there,
The homepage shows 2 levels of categories, although the theme will support more than this by navigating into each category to see the nested categories.
Having more than 2 levels shown on the homepage gets very messy quickly, so it’s been set to 2.
Thanks
Hi Chris:
I´m translating default.po with poedit (english to spanish). How can I view my website totally in spanish?
Hey there,
Checkout the Codex page for translating WordPress: http://codex.wordpress.org/Translating_WordPress#Using_Localizations
Thanks
Hi Chris:
Great theme I purchased yesterday. I have not seen where insert Google analytics Code in your template. What method can you recommned me to do this. Thanks in advance
There are a number of great plugins that can do this much better than any theme can. Here’s a highly rated one I use: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-seo/
Thanks
Great theme! I’ve been searching for something like this for weeks so thank you. I do have a query though – my logo is 530px by 35px and really does need to be that wide. A width setting somewhere is making my logo incredibly small! :’(
I’ve looked in header-css.php, header.php, theme settings, style.css and just cant find that setting?
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
MMcDonald
Hey there,
Could you email me via my profile with a link so I can take a look?
Thanks
Hi there,
Nice work on this. I’ve only had a brief look at things so far but I like what I see. Just an FYI, your text at the top prior to adding the nav says “appreance” rather than “appearance”.
Cheers!
Hey there,
Great stuff, where is the spelling mistake? I can’t find it.
Thanks
No biggie, I just reproduced the error by removing the nav. It may actually be a mistake in the WP 3.5 distro rather than your theme, I’ll post a screenshot in your support forum so you can investigate and see if it’s theme related or not.
OK thanks
